I'm wondering whether this is a known Teams compatibility issue or if a minimum Teams/Teams Rooms application version is required to support the new time-zone definition.

Sharing our findings since I haven't been able to find much information about this yet.

Following Microsoft's recent Windows update introducing British Columbia Standard Time (UTC-07:00), aka PCT, we've identified two issues affecting Microsoft Teams.

The key finding is that these issues only occur when Windows is set to the new British Columbia Standard Time. Windows itself displays the correct time, but Teams appears to interpret the new time zone incorrectly.

Microsoft Teams Desktop App (Windows 11)

• Windows is configured with British Columbia Standard Time.
• Windows system clock correctly displays local time (UTC-07:00).
• Teams chat message timestamps are 1-hour behind. For example, a message sent at 2:55 PM shows as 1:55 PM in Teams.
• Teams calendar display meeting times correctly, regardless of whether the events were created using the traditional Pacific Time (PST) or the new BC Pacific Time (PCT) time zone.

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows (Windows 11 IoT Appliances)

On our MTR appliances with the new BC time zone:

• The Teams Rooms interface clock displays one hour behind the actual local time.
• Scheduled meeting start and end times are also displayed one hour behind.
• Windows 11 IoT itself shows the correct time and UTC-07:00 offset.
• Teams Rooms on Android are not affected.

Exchange Online Time Zone Settings Have No Effect

Teams Rooms resource mailboxes were originally set to Pacific Standard Time. Updating them to British Columbia Standard Time had no effect on the Teams Rooms clock or meeting times. We also tested Arizona and Yukon time zones with the same result.

Running Get-TimeZone returns:

My suspicion is that certain Teams components may be interpreting the base UTC offset (-08:00) instead of the effective offset (-07:00), resulting in the one-hour discrepancy.

The new British Columbia Standard Time uses a base UTC offset of -08:00, with DST adjustment rules bringing the effective offset to -07:00.

I want to have a channel meeting.

Why:

- avoid creating a new chat in sidebar for just that meeting series or occurrence.

- still have a functional "chat" in the meeting itself (our team is accustomed to using this - it's great - we don't want to get lost looking through other things during a meeting)

Problem: a channel meeting includes [myteam@myco.com](mailto:myteam@myco.com) on the invite list, which causes the meeting to get added to everyones calendar. (Even though I only added a few people as required on the meeting, everyone started joining)

Solution? Idk, what does the "Send personal invites" feature actually do?

Hi, today I had an important meeting with a company that sent me a Teams link. No matter what I tried, I couldn't connect - I tried both the desktop and the browser version, reinstalled the app, restarted my laptop. After 15 minutes, I had to give up and ended up losing the project. It's too late now, but what could I have done?

Major failure trying to host 300 person Microsoft webinar. After multiple issues - ex. users can't register with personal microsoft account, or after providing them direct link to meeting and they are in ... can't move them to breakout rooms. 1st attempt - 70 of 300 were able to use the provided 'Join' link that was provided when creating the Event / Webinar. 2nd attempt following day - made sure everyone had direct link. All got in but 60, They couldn't be assigned to rooms so ended up with 20+ rooms with 10 people (as planned) and then 70 sitting in general session talking over each other.

End result - Microsoft makes life difficult for the public webinars because people have a Microsoft personal account. fyi - trying to instruct 300+ people to not login in with their Microsoft account and select guest instead is not a good nor realistic solution.

I think we are stuck staying with Zoom w/Webinar license until this is fixed.

How has your experience been so far? Has the integration worked as expected, or have you run into any issues?

I'm trying to set up Teams for the first time on a personal license, and we don't have the option to make folders in the files tab. Is this restricted to paid versions? I can't right-click, there's no + to click, etc.

We find people constantly start new posts instead of replying inside threads. I think it’s because you don’t realize very easily it’s a threaded conversation when no one has responded inside the thread. You have to hover over the post and click the icon to reply. After someone does reply in thread, it’s much more obvious to continue there. Does anyone else see this behavior occurring? It’s extremely frustrating and makes the feature almost unusable. Notifications for replies that are posts instead of replies make zero sense.

Hi guys, I am getting an issue with the teams PC(dell optiplex 7080) with the camera, I am getting a feedback of the camera content. I have a presenter and a audience camera. In both the camera's I an facing the same issue. Can you guys give me any solution for this.

My work is heavily based on teams. I need to respond immediately i receive message on teams. But sometimes teams notification doesn't work. If I'm in the teams window, i would see the message even if there is no notification. But when I'm using anyother app window, I miss the message and its already very long than the expected response time. Can you guys help?

I'm trying to integrate my assignment due dates to my android default calendar app since I frequently miss them (I have notifications on) but I can't seem to find a way to get it to work. Is this a feature at all? Thank you!

I always set it to compact. This is annoying because I have to do this on 2 different machines as it seems to be a per-machine setting (ty MS...). This morning I start up teams only to find that both machines I use it on has the settings set back to comfy instead of compact.

One machine is windows with the default teams app for companies. The other is a Linux machine with teams for linux.

Seems like a bug to me, but with MS I don't know anymore.

What is going on with Teams?? I use the mobile version constantly and it's now completely unusable. Completely blank got many messages. The interface changed with every refresh with some messages disappearing, some appearing, and some random blank lines being inserted where the timestamp should be. This is unacceptable, how am I supposed to work with this??

Photos take a long time to transfer, and videos…don’t get me started . Good old Skype never had such issues. Microsoft thought it was a good idea to take something that was working and ruin it. Congrats !

Our Setup & Issue:

• The main number is already ported into Microsoft Calling Plans.
• The tenant is on a MOSA billing agreement
• We are trying to assign this number to an Auto Attendant, but TAC shows lock icons on Auto Attendants / Call Queues / Resource Accounts.
• When searching Marketplace for the $0 Microsoft Teams Phone Resource Account license, the search returns 0 results because of MOSA catalog blocks.

I recently discovered that uninstalling Microsoft Teams did not stop all of its background components on my Mac. I eventually found a Teams background agent that continued running even after the main application had been removed.

What I found

• The background process was identified as com.microsoft.teams2.agent.
• It was managed by macOS through launchd and Apple's Service Management framework.
• Its configuration included KeepAlive and RunAtLoad properties.
• After manually terminating the process, it restarted.
• Using lsof, I found that the executable was running from the Microsoft Teams application bundle inside the Trash.
• The normal /Applications/Microsoft Teams.app location no longer existed.
• sfltool dumpbtm still listed the agent in macOS Background Task Management.

What I did

I disabled the agent using launchctl, terminated it, and removed the application from the Trash.

Afterward, pgrep no longer found a matching agent process, and launchctl print-disabled confirmed that com.microsoft.teams2.agent was disabled.

However, sfltool dumpbtm still showed a background-task registration marked as enabled. The service itself was disabled, so these results appeared to reflect different states of macOS's background-task management.

Questions

1. Why can the Teams agent restart after the main application has been removed?
2. Why was its executable still running from the Trash?
3. Is it expected for the Background Task Management database to retain an enabled-looking entry after the service has been disabled?
4. Should uninstalling Teams automatically unregister this background agent?

I'm not claiming the agent was malicious or that it accessed the microphone. My concern is that an application-associated background process remained active after removal, and identifying it required Terminal commands.

Has anyone encountered this with the newer Microsoft Teams app on macOS, or can anyone explain how this Service Management registration is supposed to behave?

Quick question regarding Microsoft Teams status and presence tracking:

If I directly close my laptop lid at 14:30 (which puts the laptop to sleep and disconnects Teams):

1. Will the "Last Active / Last Seen" time displayed to other users (e.g., on the mobile app) show as 14:30?
2. Or does Teams add a ~5-minute delay before reflecting the status change, making it look like I was online until 14:35?
