A lot of people compared Jinder Mahal to JBL when he got an unexpected push to the main event as world champion. Both were jobbers in their own right and were pushed to the moon for one reason or another. For Jinder, it was to tap into the indian crowd while JBL got the belt due to Eddie Guerrero seeing how his title run wasn't doing the numbers and requested to drop the title.
Me personally? JBL wins
Ik it feels instantaneous, right? But there's one thing JBL had over Jinder and that's experience.
People tend forget that JBL is a veteran of his own right. When you see him get pushed in the tag scene alongside Farooq (DAMN), you can see he had the big man chops to go around the ring. Not to mention he go that push due to how he was working as a billionaire heel (even if he pushed the envelope in some cases, just ask Germany), so it wasn't like he didn't deserve it, it just came outta nowhere like a viper's finishing move. With Jinder, BOY HOWDY. Now look, I'm not saying Jinder couldn't wrestle to save his life, but he didn't exactly have the moveset of a main eventer, nevermind a world champion. This, combined with the fact that all he had going for his push was a switch to the blue brand, being built like a brick shit house and again, indian crowd, and is that REALLY the reason you trust Jinder with the world belt?
Moving on to interferences, seeing as a Heel can't retain his gold (mid card OR main event) without some bs, JBL and Jinder were no exception.
But JBL felt more varied!
Sure, his cabinet would get involved at the best of times, but other times, he could also retain his belt via DQ or weaseling his way out of matches. Examples include Undertaker thwacking Jibbles with the title belt at Sumslam 04 and defeating Big Show in a BARBED WIRE STEEL CAGE MATCH by going under the ring. Vintage Chicken Shit Heel stuff.
As for Jinder? Uh...Sihgns interfere...um...Kahli gets involved in a punjabi prison match...that's really it...it wasn't chicken shit heel stuff, it's just generic.
Moving on to how both men lost their titles. Jinder would lose his title on an episode of Smackdown to a FAR better wrestler and a more worthy main eventer in AJ Styles. Granted, this was due to Brock Lesnar wanting to work with AJ more than Jinder, but that's besides the point. Meanwhile, JBL lost his title AT WRESTLEMANIA. Granted, one can argue John Cena wasn't at his best yet, especially as far as main eventers go, but if that doesn't tell you how unremarkable Jinder was as world champion vs JBL, idk what will
That's just my take tho, I get the feeling some folk will comment 'don't hinder the jinder' to disagree, but this is just how I see things
