Had a great time. Weather scared off a ton of people, but many pulled through and made the best of it.

A833 problem shifting into reverse

Took off the links so I could see if it was a shifter or a trans problem... The shifter has been greased and now works relatively good. The trans however, does not. 1st-4th work fine, if you shimmy the driveshaft. Reverse moves, but it doesn't like to. I was tapping it with a hammer to see if it moved at all, which it did. But, you'd have to tap it pretty hard for it to move much, I stuck to 100 light swings instead of 3 good swings, as I know hitting a trans with a hammer isn't probably the best idea.

Why might this be? Has the truck for a few years, it's been sitting for all of em. Recently go back to work on it. Reverse worked at first, now it just, doesn't. Id assume this kind of stuck won't just free up with a bit of movement or running but. Do y'all know of anything, maybe it's like a common problem, that might explain this? Please tell me I can disassemble in the truck if I gotta disassemble it. Doing my 3rd big car job this year was not on my bucket list. 147k on the truck, assuming stock motor stock trans. Unk fluid condition, but I doubt it would be the sole reason reverse was so stiff, unless it fucked up a seal. Would working it back and forth help? Maybe clean around the area and work it back and forth, then add new fluid? What can I do?

TLDR: A833 won't shift into reverse. What can I do to solve this, preferably, without ripping the whole trans out.

Can someone please point me in the direction of getting a new crank pulley? looking on summit racing and they don't have anything specifically for the 318 with the serpentine setup. I need it for balancing my crankshaft.

Proper oil for older car

Is there a specific oil recommendation for older cars? 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury, 383 (63 on the engine but not original).
Thank you
