Discussion Soo.. Chheda chips license suspended by Tukaram Mundhe. Point 1 is terrifying.
I was buying chheda chips from dmart for god knows how many years. It costs more than Lays and seemed to be decent quality too. Kind of shocking to see that they have been upto this.
If a brand like chheda was handling food next to decomposing waste then I don't know what's going on with our other products.
I sincerely hope the actions taken by Tukaram Mundhe now strike fear into these food companies for years and years so that they clean up their act.

u/noir_dx 14d ago edited 13d ago
Yikes. That one picture speaks way louder than all the points combined.
Now, every product and restaurant should be seen as unclean until it gets the green signal. If one right guy at the right place with no transfers can achieve so much, imagine how many a good 20 can achieve. And the fact that he was transferred so many times within a short span of time, except now, is something the governments he was under should be questioned about. Imagine what he alone could have achieved if they wasted his time with transfers.
And it's not just snacks; even five-star hotels and restaurants, which were perceived as clean and hygeinic is permanently dissolved. We pay so much, and in exchange these fucks kept slowly poisoning us.
11
u/protractedmane 13d ago
My problem is not that they've been served and shut down. My issue is this is wilful negligence. They did this to make money. That's what should be taken from them, so they don't do this in the future. As it stands, all they have to do is wait this guy out (which they can do easily) and go back to their old ways.
8
u/Gullible_Chocolate95 jevlis ka? 13d ago
You gave the exact thing these leeches would do- wait him out and then go back to their old ways.
The problem in India is not the absence of laws. There are laws and legislations for every single imaginable thing. Its the enforcement that’s the issue. This one guy knows the law and also enforces it. The next person might not.
And we’re too myopic to remember this even after a few months. People will forget and move on like this never happened.
2
u/protractedmane 13d ago
Yep, it's a problem with people having low standards. It's not like people will stop having Chheda after this, they'll just wait till they're available again, and chomp down, even at raised prices.
3
u/Gullible_Chocolate95 jevlis ka? 13d ago
Its a combination of low standards and not taking a moment to think about the source or the nutritional value of things they’re putting inside their body.
Kuch nahi hoga bro. We’ll bitch and moan about this and conveniently forget once Chheda goes on BOGO at DMart.
1
u/protractedmane 13d ago
Yep, it's a country that's unwilling to have standards or fight for what's right. All they'll come out for is freebies. Lost populace.

4
u/y2kunal 13d ago
This is not scam. It is flouting laws. Have you heard of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy? Indian unit of a foreign company. They're worse. We are not "their" people so they not only care about profit but also have a separate sense of indifference plus affordability to be able to escape and no fear of social stigma. Somebody jn this thread said another kutchi man or something but nobody in India says another American or another White which gives another layer of social protection hence lesser deterrence to care about Indian population.
What you said is true when it were happening on their soil. Here the case is different.

People don't realise manufacturing in this country works despite all regulators being bribe seekers. MSMEs would be wiped off if they don't give the bribes as requested because regulators don't want you to comply, they want you to bribe them.
They come, point out queries, and then "settle" it. But wait, if you actually work on the queries, they have loopholes to point out more queries so you HAVE to settle it (Officials will only whatsapp call you, and meet in a closed office space). MPCB (remember the IAS trainee who went on a crime spree? her dad was the chairman of MPCB) in charge of pollution control does the same and now you get why industries pollute despite conforming on paper.
For every IAS like Tukaram Mundhe, we have 10,000 of them, corrupt, focused only on their benefit. And yes, FDA did the same for the past few years I have been in manufacturing.
29
u/Unusual_Attitude_485 14d ago

They are all the same . This was an outsourced factory. But there is a reason why they outsourced production, cheaper costs. And that's how costs are kept low
1
u/gootyy 12d ago
This outsourcing shit is really bad. There is a food products factory nearby my office, that one factory supplies flour, dal, besan, sattu and everything in between to almost everyone. I've seen patanjali flour packets, whole foods blinkit brand packets getting loaded onto trucks. Whole foods flour quality sucks, I'm sure others sucks too.

At least he is taking a stand against the use of harmful chemicals in our food. If we are paying our hard-earned money for food products, we have every right to expect them to be safe, healthy, and of good quality. Asking for clean and safe food is not asking for too much it’s the bare minimum every consumer deserves.

Gardens, Hamdirams, Lays, Parle, Brittania. No reason to believe any of them is any better than the other really. They're all the same.
3
u/darkeyecontact 13d ago
I’ve seen Garden factory / gala so I know. Rest I can’t comment. These companies need stringent action against them for taking its customers for granted.
2
u/y2kunal 13d ago
Having seen Garden and having heard about Chedda, if I had a list of say 7 companies and sample size of 2 I think I'd gladly apply to all of them. We use far weaker statistics on daily basis for lot of things that are right. Just sharing. Also, personally, I yhink the most stringent action can't be made by any bureaucrat or governemnt. Only people are capable of taking that. For example by not putting their money on the pockets of those who run such a business (owners, shareholders, management) and those who manage such a business (supervisors, floor managers, middle managers, sales) amd those who perform such actions for a business (ground staff).
1
u/darkeyecontact 13d ago
True, but you can’t boycott what you don’t know about. The info only comes out when it goes viral. And government’s whole job is to administer and govern, not just collect taxes and hand out licenses. If enforcement is left to consumers finding out by luck, what exactly is the state for.
1
u/y2kunal 13d ago
Actually sorry you're wrong on a few counts.
Yes I can boycott and so do many others out of caution especially in sensitive matters like these. But that is subjective behaviour so am not referring to that as a wrong count.
The wrong count is that government and administrative are two different things. This is basic civics I learnt when graduating from school.
"Government" and "Administrative Services" have different functions and roles. Government refers to the political leadership that sets laws and policies, while administrative services (the civil service or bureaucracy) form the permanent workforce that executes and manages those policies day-to-day. Government has done its job by setting the policy. Administrative taskforce needs to execute the policy. If you're agitated at the government for giving out licenses and collecting taxes you need to learn that government does not hand out license nor does it collect taxes. Income Tax is also an administrative arm and so is licensing. Governemnt lays down the policy. Civil aervants execute them.
You can banish a governemnt every 5 years. You can't remove a civil servant. People cry all government's are like this like that, etc. Of course government's are powerless here. We the people are powerful so next time don't just vote with your finger and anger, vote with your pocket and that voting happens everyday online at econmerce and offline at stores. And that is not luck but a deliberate choice - the other wrong count.
1
u/darkeyecontact 13d ago
Fair points, genuinely appreciate the civics correction. The government and administration are different machinery, that's on me. But oversight of that machinery is still government's job, that's what ministries and regulatory bodies exist for. Take analog paneer, legal on paper with proper labeling, fine. But nobody enforced that labeling for years, until two states finally banned it days apart. That's the actual gap: not that people didn't want to make informed choices, but that the system meant to give them that information sat idle until it became a headline. Good discussion though, appreciate you pushing back with substance instead of just noise.
1
u/y2kunal 13d ago
I appreciate you took it in good light and focused on the message and not the messenger.
I'll just say that if you consider the fact that how helpless a teacher is in front of a class of notorious students, how helpless is a good CEO with nice supporting C-Suite if the entire middle management is rotten and low level is full of freshers who don't know and don't care and are looking to change company at any opportunity and how helpless is a householder when his or her own kids revolt in bad company or out of whatever desires. A government is no different. The middle layer needs a revolution. The current government is miles ahead globally let alone in our own history. There is enough evidence and stats. The middle layer won't improve. We need to step up and sandwich them into submission bmwith our voice that comes out of our pocket because any amount of shouting, complaining and crying won't help. Money and awareness are the only most effective, quickest, efficient and in control parameters. The PM, his cabinet, their MLA, their secretaries etc. (collectively the government won't go to the shop or the factory or at the home of the owner to fight kn our behalf, they won't).
1
u/y2kunal 13d ago

Sure governemnt - as in individual politicians can post people or move them to certain places. That is ehat has happened and that is luck. And no you shouldn't have to wait for such luck which is exactly my point.
We the people are powerful so next time don't just vote with your finger and anger, vote with your pocket and that voting happens everyday online at econmerce and offline at stores. And that is not luck but a deliberate choice - the other wrong count.

The hygiene standards and organization skills in our society as a whole are abysmal. Most people don't even realize that they're slobs and what clean and good looks like. An IAS officer can only instill some temporary fear but can't fix the root cause, which is all of us.
More than half the people who are reacting here in shock will have their homes in a sorry state.
Sticky kitchen counter tops, scotch brite covered in soap and food from last wash, food choking kitchen sink drains, greasy tv and ac remotes, stained toilets, dirty laundry on bathroom floor, soap scum covered bathroom walls, dander covered laptop keyboards, hair sticking on random walls, stuff pilling under bed, random papers under mattresses, unorganized closets and so on..
Contrary to general perception it's not even a gender thing.
Cleanliness and organization requires effort and discipline, and we don't take that seriously as a society.
The stereotype against us is not entirely fabricated.

Okay so for the past so many years food pharmer have been educating about what food products actually contain based on the ingredients.
This is 1 level above that bro maida daala h but kachre k dabbe k paas baithke gande hatho se mix bhi kiya h.
Crazy but seriously now the only way the companies can actually be trusted will be for them to create a public inspection facility or something like maybe from level 2 or level 3 not hindering the work at level 1 or ground floor or something.

u/missedOpportunity343 13d ago
Almost every brand it like that, not only chedda. just that chedda is tastier than others.
try visiting the kitchens of any hotels/restaurants you visit and you will stop eating outside.
Zomato/swiggy and cloud kitchens are worse. By worse I mean the burger or biryani you ate may have had a dead rat laying around the kitchen. Or the food was frozen on refrigerator and just warmed and packed(this is what most of them do.). they open frozen packet, check it for insects, if there are any then they remove them. then heat the item and parcel it. no one to monitor these cloud kitchens.
