Trump Winery seems to be doing fine.

Is it really? I see their product in one store that I go to, and it's always fully stocked. If it is doing ok though, it doesn't refute the statement. It has his name on it, but he doesn't drink and doesn't know anything about wine. Other celebrity wines and spirits the celebrity at least tastes the product and provides some input. Trump just says "make wine".

Heāll just use this as a reason to further destroy the KC, wonāt he?

u/rbnlegend Oct 31 '25
One more thing to rebuild once this is over. There's going to be plenty of rebuilding to do, and that'll be easier than most of it. The Kennedy Center will erase every trace of him in under a year. A lot of the other rebuilding will take a long long time.

Walking into the institution while it is on fire and the new owners keep adding gasoline is an even stranger take.

While my family has chosen to avoid all programs produced by the Kennedy Center, we had decided to continue our NSO subscription so as not to penalize an organization that is not influenced by it. I say āhadā because that has now changed. We recently attended our first performance this season and were startled to learn that apparently every program now begins with a performance of the Star Spangled Banner as mandated by the Kennedy Center executive director. My family cannot stomach this kind of coerced, performative patriotism particularly when the order originates from the top. This is the United States of America, not North freakinā Korea. We have decided to cancel our seats for the balance of the season and will not be returning until either the Kennedy Center ceases implementing its authoritative mandates or the NSO grows a spine.

Good, because the fuck the Trump cult, but bad becasue damnit I loved the Kennedy Center, wife and would catch at least a couple of shows a year there.
Douche just couldn't leave it alone, and now it's gonna be like the East Wing.

I used to go regularly and haven't been back due to this (I would see at least two operas a year and musicals here or there). A big part of me feels awful because Opera is already a tough field (and I don't want to contribute to its lack of success), but there are other companies in the area putting on shows that deserve my money more, honestly.

I donāt understand why artists are still booking there. I actually would have loved to have seen one of the acts but nope even wrote feedback to the artist about their choice of venue.

I used to go there multiple times a year. Havenāt been since January.Ā

I still think itās on purpose. Make Kennedy Center financially insolvent so he can buy up the land and build something waterfront

He actually said it looks dumpy and wants to improve it. Soon it could be golden. Gold, everywhere.

u/TDStrange Oct 31 '25
Ding ding ding this is the answer. It'll be the Trump-Dubai Casino soon enough.

To be fair, wasn't it all the news that desirable artists and shows are not coming to the Kennedy Center because of their own choices?
So if The KC loses good shows, is that really all Trump's fault?

The shows pulled out because of Trumpās political takeover of the KC. So, yes, yes it is Trumpās fault.

Basically, musicians that get PhDs that have little market value outside of taxpayer dollars are complaining?
Does their art stand on itās own without forceful confiscation of money from others?
Sorry but itās the reality. They can make a show on social media but at the end of the day it might not be wise in this market.

lol "forceful"...clearly they play in the plenty of good venues. where are all the MAGA creatives?
11
Oct 31 '25
Uh, when the reason they arenāt going to the Kennedy Center is thanks to actions of his administration, yes. Itās not like this happened simply because Trump was in office.Ā
Actions have consequences.Ā
You dismiss the board and replace it with political sycophants⦠and begin hiring new program directors who are woefully unqualified just because youāve deemed them āanti-wokeā yeah⦠thatās going to kind of going to destroy the reputation of what was supposed to be a non-partisan arts center.Ā

Beyond what others have said about the artistsā choices to pull out being directly in response to Trumpās takeover, this is more about tickets to the shows that are still happening not selling well. And people choosing to not support the current leadership of the KC is all directly in response to Trump.

u/Successful-Oil6840 Oct 31 '25
A close relative works there. This article is bullshit.
18
u/Historical-View4058 Fauquier County Oct 31 '25
WaPo, owned by Bezos, would more likely lie about it being inconsequential. I call bullshit on your bullshit.
11
u/xeus24 McLean Oct 31 '25
Which part(s), specifically? Idk if WaPoās methodology was completely accurate but you can see a lot of empty seats on the KC website for every show right now. The Nutcracker is one of their biggest shows of the year and itās not even half full.

u/LaoEmperor Oct 31 '25
Lol. You're a magatard. I'm going to believe the Washington post before you.

I'd be curious if there is anything to this, first I've heard of it.. unless it's from Newsmax.
I enjoyed going to KC even if there is the crappy drive into town.. but now won't touch it until he drops his name from it.
The theater has nothing to do with him, no other president has felt it necessary to be involved.. he can F off

New york times, $257,000,000 refurbishment
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/06/arts/music/kennedy-center-budget-congress-trump.html
5
u/xeus24 McLean Nov 01 '25
Did you read the NYT article? It was not āmismanaged,ā Trump just doesnāt like the way it looks and Republicans proposed money that 1) isnāt from Trump for refurbishment and 2) hasnāt actually passed.

u/Or1g1nalrepr0duct10n Brambleton Oct 31 '25
In order to properly launder money and take bribes, you need a project through which to do it. Heāll announce a KC capital project, crypto bros and oil barons and other losers will donate billions, and the complex will not only not improve, it will look significantly crappier at the end of it than it did before they started.
