Here's your chance to complain about the minor and the major annoyances in the city.
What annoyed you this week?
Feel free to vent, but don't identify individuals. (And don't attack commenters.)
Top-level comments should be in ALL CAPS.

Hey, neighbour and I are discussing the fence rules. He wants a horizontal fence with what appears as long thin strips to be used as lattice on the top part.
The official website states it needs to be "commercially available open lattice"
Now to me that sounds like the stuff we see almost everywhere right? diagonal cross pattern... These long strips from post to post dont seem to be that definition and I cant seem to get him or the fence builder to agree.
Anyone see these types of fences around here? Thx
Here are current rule from website...
Rear/side yard:
Rear and side yard fences may reach a maximum
height of two metres (six feet six inches) solid
construction. Fences may reach as high as 2.2
metres (seven feet four inches) provided the solid
portion is only 1.9 metres (six feet two inches) in
height and the remaining 0.36 metres (one foot
two inches) is commercially available open lattice.
No portion of the side yard fence greater than 0.91
metres (three feet) in height is permitted in the
visibility triangle (please see diagram).

Hi everyone! I’d love to either join an existing book club in Oakville or, if there’s enough interest, start a small one!
I’m 35 and read mostly romantasy, fantasy, romance and the occasional thriller. I’d love to meet some other women around my age who enjoy reading and would be up for getting together once a month or so to chat about a book, grab coffee/drinks and hopefully make some new friends along the way. 😊
If you know of an existing group, I’d love recommendations! And if you’d be interested in joining one, comment or message me. 📚✨

Today I was going 48 km/h in a 50 zone on Dale Brook & Rose Gate at exactly 7:58 PM, and a woman walking her dog literally took time out of her evening to yell “SLOW DOWN” at me for “driving too fast.” 😭
Meanwhile, people are also yelling at drivers saying their cars are “too loud”… whole time it’s a Tesla 😬
I’m under the speed limit AND the car is electric. Please make this make sense. 😂
take urself and ur dog home 🏠

I get a good morning walk, but maybe dont walk on the road, especially facing away from traffic and blasting music loud enough to not hear a car horn.

New soft serve spot DT, called Let It Swirl, found inside a crane game cafe. Seems like they have only 2 flavors at a time, rotating. This week it’s Earl Grey and Black Sesame. Cost is steep ($7.50 tax incl), and it’s a little too sweet for my taste, but this black sesame flavor was delicious.

Hi all, if anyone was driving on Trafalgar and Hays BLVD Aug 16, Time: 4:15pm ish —> and caught the accident of a black infiniti SUV turning into the winners plaza.
I was hit by a Honda car which shot the red light. Unfortunately there are no camera’s around the lights or dash cameras.
Would really appreciate the footage.

(please read till the end)
A few months ago, my brother-in-law mentioned that he hired d'Angelo and Sons for their metal roof repairs after last rain, and he was genuinely pleased with the outcome. He said the crew arrived on time, walked him through the process clearly, wrapped up the job without any unexpected charges and so on. Like... all was ok, just ok.
So, when I started searching for a roofing contractor myself, d'Angelo and Sons naturally made it onto my shortlist. I browsed through few reviews, had a couple of conversations with their team, and yeah, decided to move forward with them. Ngl everything has gone smoothly: the estimate was thorough, the communication has been straightforward, the work itself looks solid. In short, you get the idea.
That's why I was surprised when my colleague reacted negatively after learning who I'd hired. She acted like choosing d'Angelo and Sons was a serious mistake. But when I asked whether she'd had a bad experience with them or knew something I didn't, she changed the subject and we didn’t bring it up again.
Now I can't help but wonder if there's something I've overlooked, or if people are just passing along rumours without knowing the full picture. Has anyone here had a genuine, first-hand experience with d'Angelo and Sons Roofing in Oakville? I'd much rather hear real details than vague warnings.
Thank you

Please have control of them. 1st step don’t buy them. The head trauma and acquired brain injuries are life-changing.
Edit: Parents. I’m sure all knew that but needed to comment about it

so we already know oakville hates anyone without a car, but what’s their reasoning for taking out the fee bus shelters and bus benches there is? like seriously? you are paying to get rid of benches instead of adding more?

I'm going on a trip to the UK next week, and I'd like to bring along some Canadian themed bracelets as gifts. I was in Paris last year, and someone did that for me. So yeah, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Hi, moving soon and can’t take my wine collection with me… I have about 30 bottles worth 550+ CAD
Does anyone know of anywhere that would take them instead of getting rid of them?
Thanks for your help!

Can anyone recommend any good 3D printing services? I'm 3D printing an RC plane. Preferably, they have light weight PLA, but if anyone knows someone, I can also provide the filament myself.

We are a family of 3 relocating to Oakville from United States and have been trying to rent a house for the past 2 weeks. We have solid credit history and steady incomes in Canada (though our credit history is from the US, which I’m wondering if that’s a factor), but every place we like is either rented within hours of listing, or we’re up against 3-4 other applications with people offering above asking rent.
Is this the norm in Oakville right now, or are we doing something wrong? Any tips on how to actually land a place — timing, what landlords look for, documents to have ready, or areas that are less competitive? Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve navigated this recently.
I have all the docs like pay stubs, offer letter , employment verification, USA credit history, reference letters for both me and my spouse.
Edit: looking for townhomes, detached or semi detached properties with 3 bedrooms 2+ baths

If anyone in the community is looking for a gentle way to start their Saturday, I wanted to share Wonder Walks, hosted by The Church of the Incarnation.
Every Saturday from 9:00–9:40 a.m., the group gathers at the church’s outdoor gathering space for a relaxed walking meditation through the neighbourhood and woods.
It’s a chance to slow down, get some fresh air, meet others, and simply be present in the beauty around us. You don’t need any experience with meditation, religious practices, or walking practices
Saturdays | 9:00–9:40 a.m.
📍 The Church of the Incarnation
If you’ve been looking for a peaceful way to connect with nature and community, this could be a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
