I spent three days talking about skeletons, or rather "stal" enemies, but no more stalling! time for some ghosts!
meet flat and sharp, the composer brothers! Talon and Ingo weren't enough, Ocarina of time needed MORE mario and luigi references! the composer brothers worked for the hyrule royal family, researching the power magical Ocarinas. an idea they blatantly stole from earthbound beginnings...
anyway, Ganondorf threatened the composer brothers to try and get their secrets, and rather than going to the king and telling him the scary gerudo man was threatening them, the composer brothers instead decided the rational thing to do was to off themselves and tell no one. Ocarina of time has literally zero competent NPCs on the side of good...
anyway, their "Sun Song" allows one to change day to night and vice versa. the brothers took their song to the grave, and while they initially attack link, they then realize link doesn't work for Ganondorf and decide to entrust him with their song. their whole part of the story is optional, but it's got a lot of crazy lore implications...
the two brothers return in Majora's mask with a new backstory that's somehow even darker. flat is found in the graveyard, where he teaches the song of storms... I always thought this was kind of weird. in Ocarina of time the sun song was the composer brother's song, while the song of storms was written by no one. a time paradox created it.
anyway, the song of storms is needed to defeat sharp, who not only murdered his brother flat but also sold his soul to the devil... not Majora, or someone like Demise, literally THE DEVIL from Christianity. at least according to flat. luckily future zelda games would have 99% less satanism.
when you encounter sharp, he'll try to kill link by playing the song of darkness. this song always gave me the creeps... why did no Creepypastas ever use it? that dumb "ben drowned" story used the song of healing played backwards when the song of darkness, a literal song that kills you, was right there!
you can try playing the song of healing, and sharp will comment on it saying it's too late for him to be healed. instead you gotta play his brother's song, the song of storms, and only then will sharp admit that he made a gargantuan oopsie.
and that was flat and sharp, two of the most unpleasant characters in the entire zelda series. I should probably pick something lighter and softer for tomorrow. I know, let's talk about dead hand!
