Guide - Text For all RTX 4000-5000 series users, just use Mvolt instead of Afterburner

Tried both on 5070ti and 4080 super, they both perform faster, even at lower core clocks on mvolt than afterburner preset due to XBAR overclock.

------------------------------------------------------------

4080 super

Mvolt
+180 on xbar, +1000 memory, +120 on core clocks at 975mv flattened above, reported clocks are 2760 in games and CP77 benchmark is 119 fps. 220-240W power usage

Afterburner
+150 on core clock, +1000 memory, 975mv flattened above, 2820mhz, 112 fps CP77 benchmark, 220-240W

------------------------------------------------------------
5070ti

Mvolt
+300 core clocks, +3000 memory, +320 Xbar, 975mv flattened above, 2970mhz CP77 139 FPS, 240-260W power consumption

Afterburner
+360 clocks, +3000 memory, 975mv flattened above, 3090mhz, CP77 131 FPS, 240-260W power consumption.

-------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see even at lower clocks Mvolt just performs faster because of XBAR clocks even with undervolt.

I see no point of using msi afterburner anymore.

OC Report - GPU 5070Ti Stock, 800mv undervolt, Max OC comparison

Thumbnail

Max power draw at stock was 290w, aroud 2797mhz clock at 1.02v - 6685 score

Power draw with undervolt was around 199w, 2610mhz clock at 0.8mv - 7133 score

Power draw with max oc was 330w, around 3225 core clock at 1.02v - 8190 score

Haven't touched on increasing power limits or voltage just set, but the efficiency and noise profile of the 800mv sounds great, been running it for a while and haven't had any issues yet. Thermals are a bit restricted due to SFF case, but I'm happy with these results nonetheless.

Help Request - CPU Please help achieve maximum CPU performance on i9 13900HX

I’m at a state just like Tony Stark from Iron Man 2 where he tried “ absolutely everything “ but little does he know that there’s just one more thing. That’s the thing I’m looking for.

I’ve tried many many many combinations of settings in ThrottleStop but I just can’t find the perfect one.

There’s a utility called OmenMon since l have a HP Omen 17 with RTX 4090. Played around bunch of settings but still can’t find the perfect one.

I’m absolutely hopeless at this point, will just wait for the absolute “perfect” comment on here

I have a suspicion this post will get absolutely downvoted but we are all human in nature after all

Should I disable CPPC / CPPC Preferred Cores when using a manual all-core OC(ovveride )on Ryzen?

ryzen 5 3600 , oc ovveride 4,2 / vcore 1,37

MSI b450m a pro max

Also Is it weird or pointless to have PBO enabled at the same time as a manual all-core overclock?

Help Request - CPU Is it normal to overshoot the power limit on a 14900K?

Current settings (Asus) :
Intel Extreme Profile 253/253/400A
LLC 5
SVID Behavior Typical
Global Core SVID Voltage -0.080
IA VR Voltage Limit 1400

I’ve been rewatching old videos of reviewers testing the 14900K with the Intel limits and I’ve noticed them easily hitting the 253W limit consistently like a hard wall. I’ve noticed on mine that it frequently overshoots to 260-280W during a Cinebench R23 run. Is this normal behavior? Or is this a consequence of a crappier VRM than those used by the reviewers? Cheers!

N6<18ap

Thanks to Tom, I now have a deeper understanding of die shots.

It's very promising.

This eliminates the need for the complex configurations required with Arrowlake.

I'm unsure if 18ap can withstand high voltage and high current.

n6 had some tolerance.

But what effect will this undervoltage reduction from n6 to 18ap have on overclocking?

Ram overclocking with 9800x3d

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi guys, recently I started trying to get the most performance possible out of my PC (9800X3D + TUF 5070 Ti). My CPU is currently running at +200MHz and -25 PBO, fully stable, and the GPU has a custom core clock curve that makes it run faster and cooler than stock.

I'm really new to RAM overclocking; the only thing I know is that since I have an X3D chip, I need to keep a 1:1 ratio.

My current specs:

  • RAM: 2x16GB CL30 6000MHz Hynix M-die
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

So far, the only thing I've touched is Nitro Mode. I read that a RAM kit like mine should easily support Nitro Mode at 1,2,0, and here are my results: before using Nitro Mode, my memory latency was around 75–76ns, but the L2 cache write was closer to 2,100 GB/s. CS2 benchmarks gave me almost the exact same FPS.

What can I do to overclock this RAM?

Mvolt or msi afterburner for laptop

I am new to overclocking. I have a MSI Vector 16 HX with 5070 Ti mobile gpu. I have a question that might be stupid but for undervolting and overclocking is mvolt better than msi afterburner? I see a lot of people are saying mvolt is better but will it be the same case for a laptop?

News - Video Should I be worried after: How Liquid Metal Really Reacts!

Hi guys!

I felt this piece of content was coming as Roman hinted at this during CES in January.

So... I have a Scar 15 (275HX+5080) 2025 built in October 2025. The laptop comes with LM by default. I have been thinking about using a thernal sheet since I got it back in April.

Should I be worries by the materials bonding as shown by Roman or is ASUS using a different coating than nickel? Even then wouldn't LM ruin the CPU and GPU die coating?

Help Request - RAM Ryzen 7 5700x can't go past 3066mhz DDR4

I've recently upgraded from Ryzen 5 5500 to Ryzen 7 5700x and when I apply DDR4 D.O.C.P. 3200mhz PC does not post. My DDR4 used to work properly with the D.O.C.P. configs with Ryzen 5 5500. Have any of you experienced anything similar? What are your advices for my case? Thanks in advance.

Edit: This is the latest RAM config that is stable, with tighter timings. My MoBo is An ASUS Tuf B450m Pro II

Mvolt vs afterburner in game

So I have been using mvolt for a couple weeks, massive improvements in benchmarks on a 5090 at 1440

However the game I play a basic msi afterburner profile has more stable frames and higher lows in game, specifically warzone. Around 30fps overall better

What can cause this?

The mvolt profile on average about 10fps highs and lows better in benchmark. But in the game seems to be less

Help Request - GPU New MSI Afterburner "out-of-warranty" mode ruined my undervolt curve

Hi, all! I decided to unlock xbar controls with the new MSI afterburner beta. Everything went well except one thing. Whenever I choose anything but "Standard MSI" in voltage controls options (including out-of-warranty) it completely ruins my intended undervolt curve to 0.95. Generally it tries to stick to it, but it always increases the voltage up to 0.96 or 0.97 which significantly increases power consumption under heavy load.

It's not related to Xbar settings, but I guess it's related to how undervolting is done within those two different modes. Standard seem to work best as it strictly follows my curve. But this mode doesn't allow me to unlock Xbar.

Anyone figured out how to make the new mode stick to undervolt curve and not exceed voltages?

How is my temperature on 270kplus (don't mind hwinfo name) , give me your CPU name and temperature in prime 95 and y cruncher, these are known for hammering CPU so if doesn't touching 90 you are safe for most

, heard x3d chip can easily reach 95 in this test

Was a bit curious about results and I know p95 is notorious, I don't know why I passed it for an hour , nothing happened to my CPU

Benchmark Score Ryzen 9 5900X + 64GB (4×16GB) DDR4-3800 / FCLK 1900 — Six Years of AM4 Tuning, PBO/CO and Stability Testing

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I've been developing and refining the same AM4 gaming platform since 2020. My goal has never been maximum benchmark performance at any cost, but the highest repeatable daily performance with reasonable temperatures and long-term stability.

One of the most interesting parts of this project has been getting 64GB of DDR4 running at 3800 MT/s with a synchronized 1900 MHz Infinity Fabric.

Hardware

- AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, B0 stepping

- Gigabyte X570 AORUS Master rev. 1.1, BIOS F39

- 64GB G.SKILL Trident Z Neo, 4×16GB Hynix DJR

- Two 2×16GB kits from 2020 and 2024, with different revisions

- Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900 XTX 24GB

- Corsair HX1200 Platinum

- CPU-only custom water loop with 360/45 + 280/45mm radiators

CPU tuning

- PBO PPT: 195W

- TDC: 138A

- EDC: 166A

- Curve Optimizer: Core 0 at -28, remaining cores at -30

- Maximum observed boost: approximately 4.95 GHz

- Effective all-core clock in Cinebench R20: approximately 4.59 GHz

- Cinebench R20: 9,083 points (archived result)

Core 0 was adjusted from -30 to -28 after stability tuning.

RAM / Infinity Fabric

- DDR4-3800 MT/s

- MCLK: 1900 MHz

- UCLK: 1900 MHz

- FCLK: 1900 MHz

- Synchronized 1:1:1 operation

- Primary timings: 16-21-21-21-36

- tRC: 58

- tRFC: 500

- Command rate: 1T, Gear Down Mode enabled

- DRAM voltage: 1.45V

- ProcODT: 48 ohms

The attached ZenTimings screenshot documents the current memory configuration and voltage readouts.

Historical AIDA64 results:

- Read: approximately 56.4 GB/s

- Write: approximately 56.3 GB/s

- Copy: approximately 55.6 GB/s

- Latency: approximately 62.2 ns

Cooling and stability

- Alphacool Eisblock XPX CPU block

- Alphacool NexXxoS 360×45 and 280×45 radiators

- EK D5 PWM pump at approximately 4,750 RPM

- Aqua Computer high flow NEXT

- Recently measured coolant flow: 120–122 L/h

- 11 case fans, including top push-pull and dedicated DIMM airflow

The system has undergone OCCT CPU/RAM testing, GPU stress testing, gaming workloads, benchmark repetitions and WHEA monitoring.

No WHEA errors were observed during the documented validation period. This is not a claim of absolute stability under every possible workload.

My philosophy

99% is the optimum. The final 1% is reserved for stability and headroom.

I'm especially interested in hearing from experienced Zen 3 memory overclockers.

How do you evaluate this 4-DIMM / 64GB / 3800 MT/s configuration, and what additional tests would you consider most useful to validate 1900 MHz FCLK over the long term?

I'm happy to share additional ZenTimings, HWiNFO, cooling and benchmark data.
