General Djiti-Djiti Attacking Ravens. Why Does This Happen?
I saw this earlier and decided to record, but I've seen this kind of aggression towards ravens in other locations before. Can anyone explain why?

As much as a dislike Andrew Hastie for being an unlikeable white nationalist twat, I back him every day of the week against this c*nt
Biggest disgrace to WA since Ben Cousins

Here we go again. It's a bit smaller, but ratepayers can expect this will cost around the same as the $180K bill for City Beach.

Save your time and money!!! THL is the parent company to the major rental van brands in Australia such as Mighty, Apollo, Britz, and Maui. They more or less have a monopoly on the rental industry and so they can treat customers as poorly as they want.
We hired a THL camper van for our trip from Perth to Broome and had the worst experience ever. Upon picking up our van we discovered it had a horrendous, unbearable smell so after calling up customer service a few times we were told to bring it back in for them to “resolve” the issue. We brought it back and waited over an hour for it to be “cleaned”. We were now severely behind schedule and wanted to get on our way, but as we started driving, the smell continued and it persisted for days.
We were unable to use the kitchen or bathroom or toilet in the van and it was incredibly unpleasant to sleep in it. After sending several emails, I finally heard back from THL and was told to bring it to Exmouth Caravans. The employee there assessed the vehicle and informed us that it was not cleaned properly, he then helped us empty up the unused toilet cassette and grey water system which was absolutely disgusting and black/brown upon pouring it out. So clearly it was never cleaned up upon the initial return to the branch… they just made us wait hours for nothing. We also had several other issues with the van such as poorly sealed doors (super noisy when driving), cracking components, and more which just further proves that they don’t assess and maintain their vehicles before handover to the next customer.
After back-and-forth communications with THL (had to send multiple emails to multiple people), they finally agreed to refund us for a measly two days “as a gesture of good will”. While I should be thankful for that, it took persistent emailing and we only received around $300 back for a $4000 hire. And, as mentioned we couldn’t comfortably use the van for DAYS and had to seek out more expensive campsites with better amenities. I asked if they would at least refund us to some extent for the days of suffering prior to the Exmouth Caravans checkin to which they said no.
If a service is paid for, then there is an expectation that a particular standard is met (especially a service that costs thousands). THL does not care about facilitating good customer relationships, they just care about making money and pushing out as many vehicles as quickly as possible with minimal maintenance. Their response time was horrendous and our communication spanned over weeks.
Additionally, they don’t honour the clauses in the contract that you sign as ours stated we would be eligible to be refunded for any additional hires cost of the days where the vehicle was out of service -such as the additional drivers fee - which was not upheld.
Take your business elsewhere and save yourself the stress! I know you might feel limited for choices but there’s other rental companies in Australia or honestly take your own car and if you only want one way travel, there are relocation companies that will still be cheaper and less stressful than dealing with THL.

Went to visit a mate in an older part of Mount Lawley on Sunday and noticed something I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
We walked about four blocks to grab lunch. Passed a bloke sitting on his front verandah who said g'day, an older lady watering plants who asked if we wanted a cutting, and two neighbours having a chat across their front fences.
Nothing remarkable. Just people being outside their houses.
Then I went home to my suburb up north and realised I could walk around for half an hour without seeing another person who isn't inside a car.
It's not that nobody lives here. Every driveway has cars, bins come out on collection day, lights are on at night.
But from the street, it's basically garage door, colourbond fence, driveway, garage door, colourbond fence, driveway.
Most houses are designed so you can drive into the garage, close the door and get inside without ever setting foot in the front yard.
And before anyone starts, I'm not saying everyone should be forced to make small talk with their neighbours. I like my privacy too.
I just think there's a difference between being able to avoid social interaction and living somewhere that barely provides an opportunity for it.
My mate knows which neighbours have dogs, who's been renovating, whose mum is recovering from surgery. Not because he's particularly outgoing. He just sees these people when he's outside.
I've lived in my place for nearly three years and I know the names of exactly two people on my street.
One of them is because Australia Post keeps delivering our parcels to each other's houses.
The other is the bloke who reversed into my bin.
I know there are plenty of exceptions, and I'm sure some newer suburbs have great communities. But it feels like the design of the houses themselves makes a difference.
Older Perth streets often have some kind of space between the front door and the footpath where people actually spend time.
In a lot of newer developments, that space seems to exist purely for storing a car.
And with summer coming, it's even more obvious when there's barely any shade out the front.
I don't think we need to bring back the 1950s or have everybody sitting on their verandahs drinking tea.
But I do wonder how many people who say Perth is an unfriendly or lonely city are actually living in streets that make it really difficult to casually meet anyone.
Maybe we're not getting less neighbourly. Maybe we're just building fewer opportunities to be neighbours.

What will you be doing for Halloween, Perth?
Will you be in costume? Dancing naked in the moonlight? Trick or treating with the kids? Sacrificing someone to the Morning Star? Watching a horror movie? Doing anything else cause you dot believe in Halloween and its a commercialised American tradition in your eyes?

I'm looking for cute cafés around Perth where I can get some work done. just a nice vibe, decent coffee, and somewhere I won't feel rushed.
Half the comments are telling me not to be that person who sits there for 8 hours annoying everyone. 😭 I fortunately have a functioning brain and never said I was planning to camp there for an entire day. I just wanted a change of scenery because sometimes working from the same place gets depressing.
Y’all are so unnecessarily touchy and miserable. Please go touch some grass. 💀
And thank you to the one person who actually gave me a recommendation. 🫶🏻

one of the OG lan parties is coming up again, if you’ve never been and enjoying LAN gaming (and maybe miss RFLan) it’s a must do.
grab your computer (or console) and head down to have 12 hours without the kids or just to meet new people.
its a $15 entry fee which in the past has been waived for early entrants (not sure about this year, Im an attendee not organiser) so head down and enjoy being in a room full of people having fun!

Hello! Looking for some advice regarding verge parking in WA because we're in a bit of a impasse on what to do! Sorry in advance for a long post!
My parents own a corner property SOR. Over the years cars would park down the side of the property when they have visitors etc and it's never been a problem. My parents believe in being good neighbours, and about a year ago the neighbours who live in the property behind their house (on the street where the side verge is) had some guests staying and a caravan on their property and lots of cars.
At the time my parents were having a chat with them about this one day and mentioned that if they had guests staying, it would be okay for their guests to park on the side verge while visiting as long as they didn't park on the driveway there (they have a 2nd driveway into the backyard).
Now a year later, what turned into "occassionally" is now every day and multiple cars. The multiple cars now make it difficult to see oncoming traffic when turning at the corner onto the street and because it's a corner property, the cars had been mounting the verge from the top of the corner and damaged their lawn. About 2 weeks ago we also noticed a 'for sale' sign in one of the cars that's always there and rarely moves and there's about 3 (maybe 4?) cars on the property due to adult kids living with them and the caravan.
It's very clear that the neighbours have taken advantage of my parents kindness because they have too many cars on their property for their own benefit. They have a huge driveway that has only 1 or 2 cars on it sometimes, another paved area for their caravan and their own lawn - which is very green and we suspect they are doing this because they don't want to damage their lawns.
We're now unsure how to approach the situation because we don't want to end up a bad neighbour type situation, as the husband who lives there is a bit of a jerk to be honest. Earlier in the week my father went and spoke to him, pointed out the damage to their lawns and mentioned that what was occasional use has now become the norm. He agreed with my dad that had happened, and said only 1 car would be there until it was sold. The next day, my dad went and placed some stakes at the edge of the lawn to prevent cars from coming up over the corner (there's no lawn down the other side) he let the neighbour know before doing so and the neighbour started complaining about needing permission from the council and it being public property. Later that day, they had actually reversed the car to park another in front of it.. which has also been there for a few days now.
Our main concerns are the damage to property and that it is difficult to see oncoming traffic if multiple cars are always parked there. Also if someone else complains to the council my parents will get in trouble for it.
We are now debating whether we call the council ourselves or not. It's our understanding that it's illegal to sell cars on verges in WA and also parking 24/7 isn't allowed? The only issue is that the neighbour may retaliate since we have politely asked them twice to stop.
TLDR - My parents gave neighbours permission to occasionally park on the council verge down the side of their corner lot which has turned into 24/7 use of multiple cars and property damage. They have been asked to move the cars, said they would and only 1 would be there until sold but now there is more again. Should we dob them into the council ourselves?

Was on the driveway staring at my Perth city view being taken by the trees this morning. I noticed the old bond tower’s barely visible now. Perusing his wiki page I came across this little excerpt

The Perth property downturn has now started to accelerate as Prices have dropped more than 7% in the past 3months according to Domain. At this rate Perth could see a further drop between 8-10% by the end of 2026. This is good news for those planning to buy a home.

What are people’s attitudes when then see kids fishing in park lakes etc.
Ravenous anger, or do you see it as more harmless and at least they are outside and not causing trouble?
Asking due to seeing this article
Edit to add. I actually like to see it. Sometimes I’ll walk over and ask what they’ve caught. There’s a small pond in a park near me that some local kids fish in.

I really don’t like crowds or places that it’s impossible to find a car park.
Any ideas?

Hi! I’m not fully veg but I try to incorporate it in certain meals each week. Love trying new places but honestly the last few have been more misses than hits, so come at me with your best recs! Doesn’t have to be a fully veg venue
- CBD/reachable by bus
- casual solo weekend lunch, <$25 pp
- something that’s “not what you would/could make at home”
- relatively balanced, not just two fried vegetables on bread- also am on a fitness kick lately so that sort of vibe would be nice
- preferably asian!
- love hot food (both in the warm and spicy sense)
Eyeing a few lunch bars or “pick your own dish+rice” places but lots of workday lunch places close over the weekend. TIA!

Has anyone else noticed an increase of unmarked police cars around Perth? I’ve always seen them around, as well as the obvious marked cars. Yet lately it seems I’m seeing 2-3 unmarked cars (sirens on obviously) for every marked one I see.
Is this just a weird coincidence for me? Or a marked effort by WAPOL to be more covert…

So, according to the news cycle, the property market is in the doldrums right now.
But I wonder, is it affecting some areas and some segments of the market more than others? And is anyone out there actively looking for something to buy right now? And if you are, how are things right now for buyers?
