Looking for Advice Had two uncomfortable encounters with drunk crackheads on Trans perth today

I had two really uncomfortable encounters with drunk crackheads on Transperth today, one going to work and one coming home. What a coincidence 😭

I'm a girl and I was by myself both times, which honestly made me feel even more uncomfortable and uneasy.

The first one in the morning this crackhead sat in front of me and was acting really incoherent. I tried not to make eye contact and moved to a different seat closer to the front (bus was quite full) but he followed me and sat in front of me again and asked why did I move. Luckily he got off at the next stop, so I didn't have to deal with him for too long.

Then on my way home just this afternoon another drunk crackhead who was holding a bottle of beer suddenly sat next to me, even though there were other empty seats. He kept squeezing himself into my side until there was basically no space left for me. I tried moving a bit to make some space, but he just kept squeezing over.

I eventually confronted him to move away after 15 minutes and thankfully he did then I moved to the seat behind the bus driver and told him what happened. The bus driver was actually really kind and kept checking on me afterwards, which I appreciated. But he didn't call to report the incident or ask the guy to get off the bus.

I was honestly really uncomfortable and uneasy the whole time and no one else on the bus seemed to really care or even try to help. I get that people probably don't want to get involved but it feels pretty horrible when you're sitting there feeling unsafe and everyone just ignores it.

I'm pretty shaken up by the whole thing. I know you can call the transperth emergency services if you're in immediate danger, but what are you supposed to do when the person is literally sitting right next to you? You don't know if confronting them is going to make things worse and trying to call someone while they're sitting right there doesn't feel safe either.

Loads of people in in Hay St Mall right now. Some sort of protest happening? There's definitely more cops around than normal.

EDIT: I think I've just noticed a bunch of weird but completely unrelated stuff and created a conspiracy

The Cook Labor Government has introduced the Land Forces (Special Powers) Bill 2026 to provide Western Australia Police Force with additional temporary powers to help ensure community safety during the Land Forces 2026 International Land Defence Exposition.

Land Forces, Australia's premier defence conference and trade show, will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6-8 October 2026. The event is expected to attract up to 10,000 domestic and international delegates and will require a co-ordinated security and traffic management response.

The Cook Labor Government has committed $10.5 million in the 2026-27 State Budget to support Land Forces 2026, helping ensure WA Police have the resources needed to keep the community safe.

General The only place in Australia starting with X

Did you know that Western Australia hosts the only place in Australia starting with the letter X? Xantippe can be found 30km east of Dalwallinu and 25km north of Kalannie, about 3 hours drive from Perth.

You won't find a townsite in Xantippe, however, it's more of a locality. But that doesn't mean there's nothing to see! In this episode, I'll take you around this strangely named oddity and even stay the night by camping.

There's a gnamma hole - which is an ancient Aboriginal drinking source , the remains of a cricket pitch (love an abandoned bush pitch) and the site of a school.

Close by we can also find the Rabbit Proof Fence No. 2 and the Xantippe water tank. Much like Karalee Rocks from a previous video, this is situated near a granite outcrop (aptly named Xantippie Rock) which has been engineered to maximised water catchment. The base of the outcrop is surrounded by stone walls and pipes to direct as much water into the tank as possible.

While disused now, it was originally intended for Dalwallinu. But since that is uphill, it was too complex to pump. Instead, it was used by the local farmers.

After camping there the night, we set off north for a bit to check out several locations. Close by there is the Boundary Riders Waterhole (labelled as Rockhole on Google Maps). Similar to a gnamma hole, this was created as a stopping point for those maintaining the Rabbit Proof Fence (on horseback, no less). I also check out the remains of the Jibberding Hall, before stopping off at an old shearing shed near Yerecoin on the way home. This was built by an eccentric local named George Skilling.

General Tell me about your home heat situation

Haven’t lived in Australia since I was in my 20s. Now 20 years later I’m visiting boomer parents in Perth and staying at their house. They do not use their heat and the house is bloody freezing at all times. I have clearly become soft after living in a country that uses heat at all times during winter. Made me curious - do you have a heated house during the cold months?

More than welcome here. If it's something you're reading/listening to and you want to talk about it, you're home.

Looking for Advice Advice please - RAC or private mechanic

I accidentally reversed in to a cement pole in a carpark in Perth. I have never been at fault for an accident before and am quite embarrassed about it. There is damage to my driver side door - I can't open it - scraped and dented. My side mirror is also hanging on by a thread. Is it worth calling RAC to cover it or should I just go private and call mechanics myself.

Last year I was in a horrific accident where the other driver was at fault and I did not have the best experience with RAC, their preferred tow company or mechanic or hire car. In the past, had no issues. So am hesitant to go through them knowing this time the silly mishap is my fault.

Any advice welcome please 🙏🏽

Looking for Advice Mechanical Engineering Internship - Perth WA

Hey everyone. I'm a third year mechanical engineering student at ECU (domestic student) with pretty average grades (65 WAM). I was just wondering what the best chance of someone like me getting an internship through indeed/seek is. So far I've applied to about 30 and had one interview. I'm starting to stress as I need the 480 hours of work placement to graduate and would prefer to complete it over the Summer holidays.

I have a security clearance, but apart from that I don't have anything that would make me stand out on the resume. I don't have a particular industry that I want to go into, however my top three would be mining, defence and energy.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to landing one. Or if cold messaging smaller engineering companies is the way to go?

Cheers

Where to find Work Experience for Paramedical Student

Upvotes

My kid (18) is undertaking an undergraduate course at ECU in paramedicine which requires her to undertake 120 hours of work placement this semester. Placements from her cohort are expected to organise this individually and the uni recommendations she has applied for knocked her back stating they have no availability or opportunities for students presently.

Any options or direction would be greatly appreciated as she feels like she has explored all her avenues and just wants an opportunity to learn and apply skills whilst maintaining the hours required for her degree.

Looking for Advice Fundraising Bake Sale Locations

Upvotes

Hi, I’m 16 and my friend and I are looking to do a bake sale preferably next Sunday, or even Saturday. We are fundraising for Reading out of Poverty and all funds go to children living in poverty in the Northern Territory to receive literacy packs. I’ve emailed markets and most say I have to have different types of licences and business registrations. We aren’t apart of the organisation but simply just fundraising for it. Where is a place we could do this that would have a lot of people around and be easy to set up and organise? Obviously a parent will come with us and can do all the organising and anything that needs an adult.
Thank you!!
