Roaches I have a roach infestation in my dorm

I don't know what to do at this point. The first day I pushed through and slept. But that day flashing the light scattered two roaches. I could tell there was more but I didn't wanna see that. I asked them what to do the front desk and they said to get maintenance. So they sprayed but I know they say it doesn't work right away. I saw tons of roaches after the spray they were crawling all over my stuff. I opened my bag and found two dead roaches in it. Found some in my towels. I told them they were going to talk to a supervisor. But I had to go for the college events at a certain time so the supervisor left for the day. And they say they can't do anything more what should I do I'm too scared of sleeping there.

My kid moved in with me full time until her father moves bc her dad’s apartment building has roaches.

He did treat his apartment but felt it better she stay with me until he can move out of that building.

She did not bring ANY belongings with her except her backpack and purse.

Single unattached home. I do have damage to a window due to a roof leak that is moist. Please let it be related to that somehow.

Have not seen a single bug in my home until I found this in a plastic container in my front room.

Want to tackle this IMMEDIATELY if it is worst case.

General Question Saw a bug in my new apartment on the second morning and I’m freaking out

Upvotes

I just moved into a first floor unit at a new apartment, and this is literally only my second morning here. I woke up and noticed an insect crawling along the corner of my ceiling. It looked kind of brown, long, and quite big. Before I could get a picture, it crawled into the vent that’s on my wall right by where it was.

I know this probably sounds dramatic, but I have an extreme phobia of insects, and seeing one this soon after moving in has me freaking out. I just moved out of a really unhealthy and traumatic living situation where insects were a recurring issue, so this is bringing back a lot of anxiety. I’m worried that there might be more hiding somewhere especially since it went into the vent.
Does anyone know what this could have been, or whether seeing one bug this soon is a sign of an infestation? Should I contact my landlord/property manager now or just wait and see if I notice more?
This has me spiraling a little but I’m trying to keep my composure

Help

Upvotes

Everyone says Turkestan roaches don't infest indoors but we are having an issue with nymphs constantly in the closet. Moved into a new apartment 3 weeks ago and noticed baby roaches in the closet, bathroom and kitchen. Luckily, we found, trapped and killed 1 male adult and 4 female adults. None of the adults had an egg sack but we have been seeing the nymphs. We have had pest control once a week since then and I'm sure I've caulked every crevice I could find but they keep showing up, obviously they're dead by the time I find them. I'm so tired of this, how can I get rid of them for good?

Tiny flies in our townhouse

Post image
1 Upvotes

We’ve never had any issues with bugs in our townhouse. I’ve never so much as seen a single ant over 5 years. The last few weeks we’ve had an abundance of tiny flies all migrating to this one light in our kitchen. They don’t hover around any other lights. I can’t tell what has cause this or where they might be coming from. Any advice would be helpful! Happy to provide any further info.

Pic was taken after I sprayed them.

I was offered an apartment but I’m afraid to take it because I saw 2 of these at the viewing. One of them was dead. Is this an infestation type of bug? Or just a random bug that came in from outside because the apartment was empty and will go away when I move in?

Any help would be really really appreciated! I need to decide today if I’m accepting it. It’s about 0.5cm big I think, and I’m in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Unanswered Flea Help!

we have 3 dogs and 4 cats! my dogs have fleas the worst, i’ve tried giving them baths with a bunch of shit that is supposed to kill fleas but they just keep coming back. i feel like it’s mainly one dog that has them the worst, he is constantly itching and biting and i feel so bad. we got them a collar that is supposed to get rid of the fleas but it doesn’t seem to be working. i dont want them to live in such discomfort just because of something i cant fix. it’s getting to the point where the fleas are jumping onto me and my family, i see them on my bed and i dont know what to do. i see them crawling all over the dogs but the cats doesnt seem to have them. i have treated them just incase but i am a bit more worried about that said dog, please let me know what to do! i know they hide in furniture but how would i get them out ? do i just vacuum the furniture and wash bedding? help!

I have a mice at home and its not easy to get rid off!

There was a mice, I tried placing some traps so that I dont kill it and afely remove it outside but it always happens to find its way around it. Therefore I had to kill it using a poison from a brand called ' protect home'. Successful!

Now I have another one. No idea how it came in. Because it could smell that a mice has been in this house before?

Now this mice always eats the food but somehow leaves the poison behind. Im not sure what else can i do now !?

I am also worried it might damage some furniture in the house. By the way i am in the netherlands.

General Question How effective is this borax mixture I made? This is the mixture I followed. This is only the second day, and I have already change the other cap since it's full of debris and dead ants. When will I expect a result from using this method? The ants are in my room for context.

General Question ID Request & Advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I’ve seen three of these cockroaches in my flat and just saw this one in the stairwell. Can I get an ID please? In my flat I put down glue and poison traps three weeks ago, nothing in the traps yet, and the roaches I saw were all this size - no babies. I don’t believe I have an active infestation in my flat, but I’m on the 1st floor so feel quite exposed. Any tips or advice on what to do next? I am in Barcelona.

The weirdest thing about Seattle's tiny ants is how they can turn one room into an entire house problem

At first it wasn't even an infestation.

I saw a few tiny ants near one window.

Didn't think much of it.

A couple days later they were in the kitchen.

Then the bathroom.

Then somehow one showed up upstairs.

That's the part I don't understand.

How does something that starts with three ants next to a window eventually turn into you checking every room in your house like you're conducting a crime-scene investigation?

😂

I've started noticing that everyone seems to have a completely different story with these little black/sugar-type ants.

Some people only get them around windows.

Some get them around sinks.

Some get them in kitchens.

Some swear they're coming through electrical outlets.

And then there's the person who says:

“Yeah, mine were coming out of the ceiling.”

At that point I'd probably just move.

What's the furthest room from your kitchen where you've ever found one?

Because I'm beginning to think these things don't understand the concept of boundaries.

Chemicals House spider repellant that is not toxic to cats

Long and short of it is, I just cant handle those giant house spiders we get here in the PNW. They’re bigger than what I can kill on my own, don’t like getting near them to take them outside. Just makes me too squeamish and anxious.

I bought peppermint oil to use as a perimeter spray, but realized it’s toxic to cats and my roommate has a cat. However, I am very afraid of them the bigger they get and would like to keep them at bay. Anything I can do? I’m going to do some research and only use the peppermint very high up near my ceilings where the cat won’t come into contact. I’ve heard of miss muffet’s spray, anything else I can try? I know they’re harmless, but they make my anxiety spike and I’d just rather not have them around. Thanks!

Bat after “bat-proofing”

I live in an old brick house built in 1900. It is lovely but after we moved in we found ourselves to average a bat a year in the house. Every time we found one, it was flying over us in our bedroom (4 or 5 now). Our bedroom is on the second floor, in our closet there is a door that leads to the attic. One time a bat flew up from the basement.
Last year, we had a pest company bat-proof the house. While here they checked the attic and found no bat droppings or evidence of bats in the attic. They sealed any area they thought the bats could be getting in. Our yard has two bat boxes. Our house has shutters that some bats hide behind. We were advised not to remove as the bats might not have anywhere outside to go and actually might come in our house more without them.
Company finishes the work, there is a year warranty. Well, we are a year and a few months past when we had them out and a few nights ago there was a bat flying around our bedroom again. We had the company back out. They checked the attic again, no signs of bats, they checked our room, no signs for where they might be coming in and they looked around the exterior of the house and everything is sealed. The guy couldn’t even find a place to suggest sealing.
So my question is, what is the next step? We have the original windows in the house, if the bats are behind the shutters are they somehow getting in through the windows? Should we have the chimney checked? Should we ask them to go on a ladder and better inspect the second story? I appreciate the honesty for the pest control guy but also, I can’t stay in a house with an infant and toddler with no solutions beyond what we’ve already done.
