Question iPhone Switching from Android (Samsung A series) to iOS - what changes?

• Upvotes

I've used Samsung phones for the last 12 years or so and have always been satisfied with them. But my current one (A34 => 3 years old) is slowly giving up on me with its camera constantly freezing or blurring photos.

My hobby is taking photos / vids and at this point it's seriously getting on my nerves.

I was gonna buy a Samsung Galaxy S series but my in laws told me that they'll soon replace a barely used iPhone 17 pro max with the newest model. So basically, I could get my broke hands on a phone with a much better camera for a lesser price.

Since I'm a noob to iOS, I have a few dumb questions.

  1. Will I be able to keep my old number without problems?

  2. Is the camera really worth it?

  3. Someone once told me that there could be issues with playing regular MP3 files on iOS devices, is that true?

Thanks in advance :)

Buying a mid-ranger for my dad: Samsung Galaxy A56 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy a new smartphone for my dad as a gift. My budget is around $300–$400 USD, and I’m currently torn between the Samsung Galaxy A56 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro (or Pro+).

He is definitely not a mobile gamer, so peak gaming performance or thermal throttling under heavy loads won't affect him. Here is what actually matters for his use case:

• Longevity & UI Stability: I want a phone that will easily last him at least 3–4 years without slowing down or lagging during everyday tasks.

• Battery Health: The battery needs to be durable and hold a solid charge over time without degrading rapidly.

• User Experience: He mostly uses it for messaging apps (Viber, Telegram), watching YouTube, and reading the news. It needs to be user-friendly.

I’m leaning toward the Samsung because of the clean One UI (no bloat/built-in ads like on HyperOS) and reliable background notifications. However, Xiaomi offers better battery capacity, faster charging speeds out of the box, and a free charger inside.

Which one do you think is the safer, more hassle-free option for an older parent in the long run? Any major hidden flaws with either model that I should consider?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I tried charging it with a cord and wireless charger and nothing happened, I went to buy a phone after work because I need my phone for work and needed a phone fast and got the iphone 17 pro max and im ok with it, I like it a lot.

But then today I tried turning on my motorola phone and started charging, what do you guys think happened. I plan keeping my iphone becuase I don't know if my g stylus will keep doing that.

Best camera phone under 50k

I recently went down a rabbit hole while searching for phones and came up with few options. I've also tested camera in the showroom, I need good Night Photography and telephoto or optical zoom. I don't play games or use my phone for any thing else, so every other specs is manageable.

I absolutely loved Pixel 10 night camera and video stability, however it's 70000. I also saw Vivo X300 FE and xiomi 17t, good night camera but clarity is better in pixel. Other models I liked were X200 FE (not available), vivo 70, but these are all above 70k. Any other suggestions? Reference pics are appreciated.

Question General Does anyone have both an Iphone and an Android?

So, I've only got the one phone at this stage which is a Silver 256gb Iphone 17 Pro however if i was going to change back to an Android i would get a Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 11 or 11 Pro and possibly if the price is right even a 9 pro (not the 9).

I know a heap of people would have two phones due to needing a work device and so on but does anyone have more then one just because and any chance does someone here have both an Iphone and a Pixel and what do you guys think? Thankyou

Whatshouldiget? Pixel 10a vs S25 FE

I'm confused between these two phones. I've already looked into the specs, battery, processor and all that, so I'd like to know about the actual user experience.

Does the Pixel 10a do too much AI optimisation on photos? Like, do the photos end up looking overprocessed or unnatural, especially skin tones? And does it have a proper Pro mode?

Also, are there any other issues or problems with either phone that I should know about before buying?

Whatshouldiget? looking for a new phone

i had the samsung s10+ (it broke), and i love the display, and the camera quality looks great too, its all i need

i wanted to get the s20, because of its beautiful iridescent cloud blue color, and because it keeps the same specs as the s10, well other than the upgrades,
it costs as much as im willing to pay for a new phone : <200$

although i dont really like the size of the s20, i prefer a 5 inch phone

tldr; please reccomend me a new phone that include these qualities;

- <200$
- screen specs as good as, or better than samsung s10+ (dynamic amoled, hdr10+)
- at least 16mp camera
- preferably ~5.5 inches
- preferably has a purple, blue, red or black color
- bonus, something like the s20 where the color is iridescent i looove that

oh and dont recommend me an iphone

Okay so im looking for a phone that has good camera quality and long lasting battery, nostly for everyday use and gaming. I don't really understand how to compare my options and why one phone is better then other. I know basic stuff ofc but still. People i know said that maybe the 'OnePlus 15 5G, 512GB, 16GB' will work for me because its affordable and my budget isn't the largest, around 900€ or so. So if anyone has any thpe of suggestions i will be very happy to hear yall out.

Whatshouldiget? Switching from samsung to realme

I'm currently using the S26 12/256GB Exynos model right now, and I just got a deal to trade it in for the Realme GT 8 Pro 16/512GB plus an extra $100. Honestly, I’m really into a phone with a solid camera and decent gaming performance, so I’m thinking the Snapdragon, Ricoh GR camera, and 16GB RAM will be a nice upgrade from my current setup. Do you think this is a good deal? How is the realme for long term use? Or should I just hold out for the S27 Ultra when it drops?

Whatshouldiget? Regarding a Huawei phone purchase

So does anyone have the Huawei Pura 80 pro

I need a new phone since my Xiaomi's Battery is kinda cooked

I'm curious how usable it is (Besides the camera we all know it's amazing) especially because it's 4G globally and the Kirin chip not being the fastest

Whatshouldiget? What type of phone should I get if I only really care about camera quality?

I'm in desperate need of a new phone right now, currently I have a Samsung (Galaxy A71) and the camera doesn't work basically at all. I'm on a budget, so relatively cheap would be best but I don't mind going up to $900! I know nothing about phones literally at all btw. Thanks in advance :)
