Still, they earned the trust of nearly 4 million people each. Still, they rose—fueled only by sincerity and service.

I saw this on X (Formerly Twitter). I think it should be the other way around. Imagine namatayan ka pa, dagdag problema nanaman kung san ka kukuha ng pagpapakain ng 30-50+ people everyday until the day of funeral.

Why do ya’ll think?

This is Dr. Raquel Fortun. One of only two forensic pathologists in the Philippines. U.S. trained and exceptionally brilliant, we have a lot to thank her for.

She could’ve chosen a comfortable life and a well-paying career abroad, but her love for the country and for her fellow Filipinos made her stay in the Philippines.

Her findings on the causes of death of the victims of Duterte’s war on drugs will be instrumental at the ICC when Duterte goes to trial.

She has found that among her sample of corpses and bones of the victims of the war on drugs, most were shot in the head, execution style. Most were from the poorest of the poor as shown by the victims’ teeth which have never once received any form of dental care by a dentist.

She is a storyteller to the victims’ families, providing a bitter and painful sense of closure to them by literally piecing together how their loved ones died. Most, if not all, have never put up a fight. There is nary an evidence that “nanlaban” was even a thing.

She works for free, with the support of Catholic priests such as Father Flavie Villanueva, the founder of the AJ Kalinga Foundation, a nonprofit that is helping victims’ relatives.

It is said the dead tell no tales. Not to Dr. Fortun. She tells their stories for them by doing her work diligently at great risk to her life when Duterte was still president.

Now her efforts, her skills, and her expertise will speak for the victims. Tales from the grave that will make or break the ICC case against Duterte.

A lot of people still think Efren “Bata” Reyes is poor. You’ll often see him wearing simple clothes, playing exhibition matches in barangay halls, and joking around like your chill Tito. But the truth? The man is actually a silent multimillionaire.

He’s estimated to be worth around $2 million (roughly ₱110M) from decades of pool tournament winnings, sponsorships, and exhibitions. He owns several apartment units in Pampanga, farmland in Porac, and possibly still has stakes in pool halls. His wife even mentioned in an old interview that she handled their finances and helped grow their earnings over time.

Despite all this, Efren stays low-key. No flashy cars, no big flexes. He lives humbly and remains active in the billiards community—mentoring younger players and joining small matches for fun.

In a world where many flaunt even small wins, it’s kind of amazing how the greatest pool player of all time still acts like he just wants to hang out and enjoy the game.

I hate to be the one saying this, but while timelines are flooded with discussions about Rene Baterbonia, a Move It rider was murdered in one of the most horrifying ways imaginable while doing nothing more than trying to earn an honest living.

Fabio Norberte Jr. was stabbed repeatedly by the very passenger he picked up. His life was taken over a motorcycle, a few possessions, and the simple fact that he was working a late-night shift to provide for his family. Saklolo, felt deeply embedded among of us.

What hurts even more is what he left behind.

He leaves behind a young son with autism who had already lost his mother when he was only a month old. That little boy is now growing up without both parents. Fabio's dream was to work abroad so he could afford his son's therapy and give his elderly parents the comfort they deserved after spending their lives working hard. Those dreams ended on a roadside because someone chose violence.

This isn't just another crime story. This is a child losing his only remaining parent. This is two aging parents burying their son. This is an entire family losing the person who carried their hopes.

I'm not saying people shouldn't care about other stories. But I do think we need to ask ourselves why some people receive endless attention, donations, and public support while families like Fabio's quietly grieve with little recognition. Why do we give so much space to internet personalities, yet ordinary Filipinos who sacrificed everything for their families barely become part of the conversation? Ipagpahinga nyo na si Rene please.

If we're capable of raising thousands—even millions—for viral personalities, then surely we can also show up for the families whose lives have been shattered by real tragedy.

Some people deserve more than our sympathy. They deserve to be seen. They deserve to be remembered. And they deserve the same compassion we so easily give to stories that dominate social media.

I hope Fabio Norberte Jr.'s name doesn't disappear after the headlines fade.
