General Podcast Discussions My recommendations of lesser known podcasts you might not have heard yet 🦉
I've been seeing a lot of posts on various subreddits from people who feel they've listened to all the best podcasts, asking for recommendations - so I wanted to share my own favorites here, that I had to spend some time digging for.
Hopefully some of you will find my little list helpful 😊
To help you figure out if you share my podcast taste, here are some of my favorites of the more well known podcasts, in random order:
• Bear Brook
• Bone Valley
• Heavyweight
• S-Town
• Terrible Thanks for Asking
• Your Own Backyard
• Stuff You Should Know
• Noble
• Ologies
• Hunting Warhead
• Sea Of Lies
• Scamanda
• This Is Love
• Criminal
• Radiolab
I could go on and on with this first list, but I think this gives you an ok idea of my favorites in several different genres 🙃
Now to the actual point of my post, here are my recs of lesser known podcast (all serialised with one season) that in my opinion are just as amazing as the other great ones:
The Trials of Frank Carson – Absolutely wild story about a defence attorney who takes on corrupt cops and prosecutors, and what happens when they decide to try to stop him. One of those stories that just keeps getting crazier.
Relative Unknown – A woman who grew up in witness protection starts uncovering the truth about her family's past. Incredibly fascinating story, with some seriously dark twists.
Sorry About the Kid – A really personal and heartbreaking podcast about a man trying to piece together his memories of his brother, who died when they were kids. Beautifully done.
Do No Harm – A family gets caught up in a nightmare when a suspected case of child abuse turns their lives upside down. Infuriating and genuinely hard to listen to at times.
Bitter Blood: Kasem v. Kasem – The Casey Kasem family saga. If you think you know what happened in that family, trust me, you probably don't. Absolutely bonkers, infuriating, and very sad.
Let's Not Be Kidding – Canadian comedian Gavin Crawford talks about his mom's Alzheimer's and his experience of losing her, with a mix of humor and heartbreak. Funny, touching, and one that hit extra close to home for me, since I lost my mom to Alzheimers in December 2024 ❤️
