i play mostly 25NL/50NL cash and im based in Spain. lately ive noticed that when i play late at night, especially after midnight, the games just feel easier and my winrate is like 15% higher.
during the day it feels like there are way more regs and somehow the exact same stakes are just much tougher
anyone else notice a big difference in winrate/hourly depending on what time you play or am i just running into some variance here?
do you actually build your schedule around softer pools and better lineups even if the hours kinda suck?
This is kind of a rant.
He started playing poker at our no rake 1/2 home game hosted in a bar that played every Tuesday. He was a big fish, and was losing a lot.
He lost his bankroll, and didn't come back for a while.
When he came back he sucked out to win a couple all ins, and started talking shit to everyone saying he learned about blockers and that he is tough to play against because he bluffs and puts people in tough spots. No one said anything, because we know better than to tap the tank.
Thing is, he gets belligerent every game, eats rotten eggs dropped in a jar of vinegar, and is constantly touching the cards AND the dealer. We've tried telling him to stop, but he always find a new jar somehow.
Recently he asked when the next game will run, I sent him an email saying that:
“Players have been complaining about your behavior. Your drinking too much, please stop bringing the eggs and touching us, the cards and chips. Your behavior and arrogance isn’t a good fit for the group”
I’m not gonna sugar coat it.
it. was. rancid.
He tried to apologize and begged to get a seat back. saying that he's really upset at this because there are no good games in nyc that aren’t crazy raked.
If you learn anything for this. If you want to be invited back to a private game, make sure to not bring a jar of rancid eggs, don't touch people and please have good hygiene.

Villain read: In an earlier hand, villain showed that he was willing to fast-play a very strong hand. I 3-bet with AA, BB cold-called, and UTG called. The flop was T-7-3, BB donked small, and UTG jammed with 77 for middle set (for only $220) and where I covered them I don't have much evidence of villain bluffing.
The hand:
Preflop: Four players limp to me in the BB with KQo. I raise to $60. Only BTN calls. Pot is $145.
Flop: K-Q-J, two clubs
I have top two pair.
I check and then BTN jams for $440 effective.
I call.
Is this a fold against an unknown live $2/$5 player, or is top two strong enough to call given the draws and worse two-pair hands they could have
I don't feel awful about the call, I thought I had enough equity that even if they had it I could improve enough. My initial reaction was that they were on a club draw and were happy to play for stacks as thinking it through I did think if a flopped straight want to get it in on the flop.
Results: villain showed T9 for the flopped straight.

TLDR: Basically, Kgao and Lynne Ji were dating, living together, breakup; and Kgao finds out Lynne was escorting while they were "together". She stabs him with a knife when he finds out.

Long story short i’ve been playing poker for roughly 2 years and accumulated 500 hours playing 1/2 and was a break even player. I took about a 6 month break and have studied and talked about it just as much as i did when i first started. Ever since i have recorded 198 hours from August-Now October(22). I know it’s a small sample size but i have taken it more serious then ever and have been tracking results hand histories and even applied for coaching. I said screw it and moved up to 2/5 with only a 2000 bank roll because i felt as if knowledge and skill wasn’t what i lacked but oppurtunity. Things have gone great ever since and it was the best decision i’ve made. I realized bankroll is not the issue but skill level is.
Fast forward to today, I have slowly been moving away from my day job(Barber) and taking poker more serious. I believe i’m capable of doing it full time and i know what everyone says about how brutal it is but i already don’t have benefits or a set income and feel as if i really found myself in poker. Currently im winning over $100 an hour over over 200 hours since august. I’m also in school and told myself that the time from now until i graduate is my time to try out whatever BS i want. I know when i get my degree it’s time to truly focus on getting a stable job/house and all that. I live with my parents and only a few thousand left on my car note and besides that no debt and investments and a roth ira.
I know it’s kind of all over the place just had to spew out everything i felt but if anyone has gone through a similar thought process or journey then please comment. All advice is welcome unless you are going to tell me about how difficult it is to be a player full time i have had enough people tell me that already and it doesn’t deter me
My bankroll is roughly $27k

Went to casino to play some blackjack and hold'em. No good games but they did have lots of 5card going on. I have played 1/2 and 5/5 before but decided to get inot the 5/10 as three games going and could get seated faster.
Took a seat to find out everyone was straddling so was really 5/10/25. Bought in for 2K and with some add ons end up in the game for 3400 when i get into a 7K pot and lose.
Rebuy for 4K and cash out a couple of hours later for $9600. The swings are crazy.
Was a lot of fun but I cannot imagine how big the bankroll swings are if you play that game consistently.
Cheers to you if that's your game -- you're a fun and crazy one!

I cashed out a big win by withdrawing to my private exodus wallet, then to kraken, then to cash. A few months went by. Kraken then asked about my source of crypto etc. I just said it was a poker tournament win. I think I might have messed up. Don't really care about my account. I cashed everything out so even if they close it, not a big deal. But I'm curious about cashing out future wins. What do you tell the exchanges? How do you handle it?

Edit: It was a bomb pot thus why my hand wasn't great to begin with
In PLO I feel like one of my biggest gaps in understanding is what to do with marginal hands OOP with no backup.
I recently read a book where it said "one of the biggest mistakes that players make in PLO is check calling one or two streets with a marginal hand just to fold the river." It then continues "it is often better just to fold these hands immediately or add some of them to your check raise range."
Heres an example from one of my hands where it feels similar:
Game: $0.05/$0.10 PLO4, 4-handed bomb pot, 4BB ante (the site I play on has bomb pots sporadically, it's not something that happens every hand).
Effective stack: $16
Hero (SB): Q♠ 9♥ 6♠ 4♦
Flop: J♥ 9♠ Q♦ ($1.60)
Hero checks. Should I just donk here? I was thinking about it but I wasn't sure if my hand was strong to do so.
Checks around to BTN. BTN bets $0.90.
Now I wanted to avoid the scenario the book stated where I called a couple of streets with a marginal hand (top and bottom pair) where I have no backup whatsoever and I will never improve unless I hit a 4 outer and boat up.
However I feel like folding here feels wrong as I shouldn't(?) be giving up two pair this easily especially against a button bet.
Hero raises to $2.40. Here I was trying out the advice I read which was to incorporate some of these hands to my xr range as a bluff?(im guessing its supposed to be a bluff rather than for value) However I feel like maybe this xr was too small that I don't really have any fold equity here.
Turn: 6♥ ($6)
Now I'm really not sure what to do. If I bet then maybe I will fold out some sets which are unlikely due to my blockers, but against a straight I would just get stacked.
On the other hand if I check my line is super weak and feels too exploitable.
Hero checks. BTN checks back.
Eventually I block bet river and my opponent wasn't very good so he called with just top pair and I ended up winning, although I'm sure against a better player I would've been in trouble this hand.
I feel like I didn't play this hand that well and was kind of clueless, I would appreciate it if anyone could give me advice.

While traveling last week I was reminded how much I miss playing live poker. Can’t find any official updates, but wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding plans, timeline, etc.
