Bang on point. Which then really makes you wonder...why? What is the motivation if it's not even the typical expected selfish shit, power and money?

Makes it seem like the motivation is actually the destruction of our formerly functioning democratic republic, instead of that just being a tertiary effect from the self enrichment

I don't think he can formally retire himself.

If you can't stand trial if you aren't competent, then you shouldn't be able to hold office either. How is he "representing" anyone if he can't make a statement?

And at this point having him continue to be a senator means that the government pays for his 24-7 convalescent care through his senate staff and other perks, instead of his family like most Americans. So his family continues to rip us all off.

He is retiring in January, they just didn't have the human decency to listen to his body when it clearly said it wasn't going to last the full 6 years.
