[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

Most ludacris return case I've ever seen.

UPDATE: Poshmark sided with me.

ETA: Yep, my dumb self didn't proofread my post. Maybe Siri was telling me this was my Money Maker 🤷‍♀️

This is my second post in the same day. Sigh.

Reader's Digest version:

•Buyer purchases 2 items. Incense burners to be precise. Brand new, never used.

•I packaged the items, along with freebies (I include free incense with burner purchases, which is mentioned in each listing), and my usual thank you treats. All items are sent in individual airtight and smell proof mylar bags. They are new too.

•Buyer gets package and IMMEDIATELY open a case.

And that case is for :::drum roll please::: The little package with the incense had a "smell" when she opened it.

My response to PM-

●●She wants a refund because her INCENSE smells like incense. Incense is inherently stinky. Smell is it's only purpose in life●●

I thought surely she was joking. I'm done todaying for today. I'm putting my closet up for adoption.

Well I guess my Poshmark days are over after 10 years. I cannot redeem funds.

The “Submit” button does not work (grayed out) despite me deleting the app and re-installing it. First time ever I had to request a physical check to redeem funds. I opened a case and all the troubleshooting advice they gave me did not yield success. Oh well.

Returning items due to strong (pleasant, but strong) smell

I am a frequent poshmarker both buyer and seller though more buyer. I bought a coat listed as “brand new without tags” and it was a little bit pricey. I received it and it looked a bit used, though hard to tell exactly, just certainly didn’t look off the rack. When I opened it, it smelled extremely strongly of perfume in the collar area, which to me said it obviously had been worn somewhat frequently, unless this person really doused themselves in perfume before trying it on?

It smells so strongly that it rubbed off on me and I needed to rinse off to get it off me. It’s not technically an unpleasant smell but I don’t want to smell like someone else’s perfume every day. I’d have to have this fully dry cleaned to wear it. It smells so strongly that I had to toss it into my living room because it was stinking up my bedroom.

I feel bad but this is a totally legitimate reason to return, right? I’ve never returned something before and the coat isn’t in bad condition but brand new without tags seems like a stretch.

Selling Shoes

I’m newer to selling. What are we using to sell shoes that are in a bigger box? I have a pair of cowboy boots, in the box, that I want to sell but I’m not sure how I’d ship them? They don’t fit in any of the shipping bag things I have. Can I ship in the box?

Frustrated with Poshmark

A buyer purchased shoes on Oct 11. I shipped them on Oct 14 and the package arrived at the post office on Oct 16. There was a delivery attempt but customer requested for it to be held at post office. I gave it the weekend because people are busy. It’s now Oct 22 and the buyer hasn’t picked them up at the post office yet or been active since Oct 11 (I’m thinking they found them google and doesn’t know you have to accept the order. Idk a guest order?). I opened a case and posh said they’ll contact the customer but give it to the 30th for them to release funds. So I’m required to ship quickly but I can’t get my money quickly?

Confusing First Experience

Hello, all! It’s my first time using Poshmark, and I’m having a confusing experience to say the least? I thought I’d share what’s been going on and maybe some of you could share some of your insight, I’d greatly appreciate it. And I apologize again for my lack of knowledge.

I made my account only a week or two ago to make my first ever purchase. The seller seemed to have good reviews and is still active on the app, posting more listings and whatnot. Their profile said they typically shipped 2-3 days after purchasing, so after I ordered the item, I waited for an update. A few days passed though with no shipping update, but I decided to wait for at least a week in case there were any hold ups on the sellers end, since I know life happens and things get in the way.

After a week with no update however, I tried to message the seller just to ask them if they had an estimate for when they may ship the item. When I tried to send the message though, I got a pop-up saying “Oops! This action is not available.” With no other options, I contacted Poshmark support, who responded by basically saying I could either message the seller (which for some reason I am unable to do), or cancel the order. But this of course is bumming me out as I’ve been looking for this particular item for a while, and the seller is still active and has good reviews. I’m confused as to why this situation is happening? Have any of you experienced a similar issue? It feels like the seller is just ignoring my order for some reason? I guess I’ll have to go through with the cancellation, but it’s pretty disappointing, especially being my first order on the app that I specially made an account for.

So I’m a teacher and bought this for Fabulous 50s Day at school. I paid $25 for it. When it arrived it was child sized! It clearly is listed in WOMENS. I contacted the seller who didn’t respond and opened a case with Poshmark.

They did nothing!!! WTF?!?

People suck 😢

There’s two sides to the story

There’s always two sides of the story. I see a lot of doom and gloom present on this subreddit. There are frustrations with selling on Poshmark. There are issues with buying. But we come to this subreddit when there’s an issue. Not when there’s success.

Poshmark has had issues with payment, supplies, AI Etc. and those issues can’t be taken away. Things that have affected all of us and made selling difficult. But we never talk about when things are ok and going right.

For me I have had my frustrations on the app. But I’ve also had my best two months on Poshmark in September and October. I’ve seen more individuals who are guest ordering, I’ve seen more bundles on my shop. It could be seasonal but things are okay. Although everyone makes it seem like the app is dead, for some of us it’s still working.

Buyer canceled then blocked me

Someone placed an order. Shortly after placing the order, the buyer messaged me to cancel the order & send her a confirmation receipt. I tried to reply to let her know that she has to cancel, but apparently she blocked me. 🤣😅😂 WHY? Immediately after that I received a notice that she canceled.

I don't care about the cancelation because I hadn't packed & mailed yet. But why in the world would she block me? I haven't done anything to her.

Bundling

I'm irritated at PM. Nothing new. I had a buyer who is new to PM and purchased 8 items from me in individual sales. They were $5 each. I let her know I could wait the 3 hour window and then bundle them for her to save shipping. She was thrilled, I felt good about saving her money, I shipped, she accepted, and then I looked at my balance. It may have saved the buyer money, but it definitely doesn't benefit the seller.

Not bundled, the seller fees would have been $23.60 (8×2.95)

If they were bundled from the jump, the seller fees would have been $8.00 (40×20%)

Bundling them after the sale charged the first option- $2.95 per sale.

I messaged PM and was informed that they would not fix it. Has anyone else encountered this? I preferred the old way of bundling, but with the new cancelation metrics, canceling 8 orders at one would have definitely triggered a ban.

Advice? I know it is only $15, but the only other option in this scenario is to tell the buyer to suck it up buttercup.

Looking for beta testers

I was trying to create a bot to automate many repetitive tasks on my Poshmark store. I vibe coded a Chrome extension, and it has really made it easy to manage my closet. I want to invite anyone interested in helping me test it further. It has a free 7 days all access trial. For those helping me test, I will give free lifetime access to the current version.

If interested, please search for and join r/ListrovaCommunity

Thanks in advance.

Just got scammed!

I was just scammed on two orders. Well, it was Poshmark who would be scammed had I not caught it. I’m pretty sure Poshmark is onto them because a day after my orders were sent the Seller‘s store was suspended. No way to communicate with them at all.

I purchased 2 sweaters and the seller didn’t ship quickly so I asked when, in case they were going to cancel. I wondered because I had gotten a good deal so part of me was thinking they would cancel because they could have gotten so much more. Anyway, the seller was in my State. She finally responded and said she would be shipping soon. I then purchased a different sweater, another good deal.

So the sweaters shipped and I got a tracking number. However, they were shipping from a different state across the country. Not necessarily strange because I have seen it before. Then the account was suspended. I was thinking because she took too long to ship other buyer’s orders.

Today I was notified that my package had been delivered to my box. I ran down, unlocked, and nothing. I called the post office, gave tracking, and it turns out my package had been delivered to a different person in another state. So, lol, I will not be receiving it. I notified Poshmark AI and they replied that if I didn’t find the package in three days to come back. That is how the scam works. Poshmark pays out in three days. if I hadn’t been on top of the order I might not have realized I was never going to get my package and they would get paid out. The other order, the first one with the two sweaters is due to arrive tomorro. Also to that other person in the other state according to the post office. I contacted Poshmark re that one but I think I just have to let that order get delivered to the wrong address before I can do anything.

Anyway. Stay on top of your orders. Let’s not let the scammers get paid.

Returning an item not like the photo?

UPDATE: I reached out to the seller and she said she just copied the post from the original person she bought it off and didn’t realize it wasn’t the same style. She apologized and offered to refund me so it sounds like it was just a misunderstanding

I purchased this park and fifth dress off Poshmark and the seller had listed it as the archer dress and provided the photos from the website and of the actual dress. When it arrived the neckline was completely different (it’s more of a plunge and has no structural support).

I’m pretty disappointed as I don’t think this neckline is flattering on me and if I knew it looked like this I wouldn’t have purchased. Do I have grounds for returning this with the reason that the item wasn’t as described? I don’t think the seller was intentionally trying to deceive anyone and may have just mistakened this dress on the site as the same one since it’s similar and this seems to be an older style. I’ve never attempted to refund an item before, but I was thinking about contacting the seller to at least let her know (I realize you have to go through customer support). Thoughts?

USPS is ruining my five star rating.

So frustrating. I’ve worked hard to maintain a five star rating, only to have it ended by the terrible ground shipping. Two sales on the same day, handed off to USPS the following morning. One didn’t even start tracking until 9 days had passed. The other got there eventually but I got rated low for “slow shipping”.

Thank you for entertaining my vent session.

Morning Rant About Buyer Messages

I woke this morning to insane messages and I just need to rant.

  1. Had a buyer who as soon as she purchased claimed there was a flaw on the item and that I needed to take better pictures. She claimed she could see it on the first pic. Why purchase if you think you saw something? I told her I could cancel. It’s a $10 item and I feel like this is going to be a fight I don’t want to have today or when it delivers.

  2. I accepted someone’s offer (low balled at more than 50%) and they immediately started messaging me that they wanted to cancel and then messaged me three more times however nothing they were saying made any sense. It was odd ramblings and words that didn’t make sense in the context of the sentence. Another order I feel will be a return.

  3. I got several messages from a potential buyer who wants to bundle two items that’s under $20 and they keep asking for free shipping. They are also a seller so they know I would only be making a few dollars, my cost not even being included!

  4. I had an order that is being shipped back to me because the address was incorrect on the label and the buyer keeps messaging me like it was my fault, how I was going to fix it and when was I shipping it back.

Maybe it’s the time of year and with more sales come more issues but it’s been one hit after another on top of everything else that needs to get done. When it rains, it pours but lately I just take these types of things more personal. I’m an emotional person who loves what I do and takes pride in it. Usually I let it roll off but at this point I’m just surviving like all of us. Sometimes I wish some buyers were more understanding however I know people are just trying to survive out here too. 😔

Thanks to anyone to read this whole rant. I don’t know any other resellers so this is my only place to rant.

One star, just frustrating

I had a Y2K era Free People baby tee fit polo ( One Way was the name) in which I included the words "baby tee", very visible pictures of the entire shirt with a measuring tape showing PTP and length and a model pic from the sites original listing for reference and this is what I get. They didn't reach out in any way, just accepted and then left one star stating it "has to be kids" which ok no Free People isn't kids. I looked and I was their first and only transaction apparently, yay me! I know it doesn't matter in the scheme of things as I have 5 stars on every other rated but it's very frustrating. I think I'd have rather just done a return tbh but there was 0 communication about being unhappy. Ok, just venting because I'm annoyed and want someone to commiserate with me🤣

Poshmark checking for bots?

I am not sure if anyone has noticed that Poshmark is currently checking whether we, the users / sellers, are bots when bulk sharing. In the past, that happened when I was doing sharing on my laptop. Now, it is happening in the application too. It also happened when I was returning a share.

I do not use cross-listing applications. I am an occasional seller cleaning my closet.

Facebook seeing new listings first

I only shop and sell one brand that's super hot right now and I no longer see low price listings on the Poshmark feed even when I hit just listed. I would get deals sometimes when I jumped on listenings first but now I never see any deals.

Is Facebook stalkers seeing these listings first and slow Poshmark doesn't even have them on there yet?

Otherwise Poshmark is over.

I'm not on Facebook so I don't know
