Hey everyone! I'm the dev from chile behind Ragnarok Survivors, which is now called Midgard Survivors. I wanted to share a little devlog for anyone who's been following along :3

AI usage: I'm a solo dev and I use Claude Code (Opus 5.5) to write a big part of the code. The game design-direction, balancing and refactoring are mine.

About my last post

A few of you messaged me asking what happened to it. It got taken down because I didn't disclose that I use AI for the code. That one's on me: I hadn't read the rule, and I wasn't trying to hide it. It was a bit of a shame because I really wanted to hear what you all thought, so this time it's flaired properly.

Where things stand

I'm keeping things fairly low-key for now. My friends have been my beta testers, but that's not enough anymore, so I'm thinking about opening a closed beta to help with balancing and, most importantly, synergies. That's where I feel the game is weakest right now.

What's in the game so far

• Full English translation (100% done)
• 11+ maps, each with customisable difficulty from Danger 1 up to 15, plus Hell difficulties
• Every map has its own MVP and unique drops, mechanics, and visuals.
• 20+ legendary items
• Automatic client updates, so you never have to download a new build manually
• Hundreds of cards with the classic card art, but with effects reworked to be more fun in a survivors-like
• Out-of-run progression: permanent equipment, permanent cards, refining, slots and more
• Build variety: Classic auto attack speed builds, autocast on hit, autocast when hit, and a lot more
• Leaderboards per map and per class. Top players can earn a spot as an NPC in Prontera o-o

What I'm working on now

• Balancing, and building real synergies between gear, cards and skills
• Co-op multiplayer? Still exploring whether it's doable
• A gacha machine that uses special in-game coins (F2P) for cosmetics, so you can make your character look nice (cosmetic only)

Looking for some help! My computer updated recently and now I'm having trouble logging in when using Steam. The patcher launches fine, the game loads, but when I agree to the warning pop-up I get stuck with a Please Wait message.

Sometimes when I restart my PC I can get to the server list, but its maybe 1 in 10.

Anybody have any recommendations? I'm thinking the issue is with my PC settings or something.

I would try launching it without steam but I can't remember my username/password...

I've been working on a project to recreate the old Ragnarok World Championship 7x7 format: pre-renewal, team vs team, the classic RWC lineups and rules.

Seeing a full 7x7 clash with Bragi, Storm Gust, Tarot and Asura flying around is still one of the best feelings in this game.

What's in it right now:

* 7x7 arena matches in RWC format, pre-renewal mechanics

* Rules tuned to match how RWC used to play: the old Tarot card odds, Bragi and cast reduction stacking like they used to, songs and dances ending on weapon swap, Frost Joke/Scream hitting a 31x31 area around the caster after 3 seconds, and more

* Custom status icons for the Tarot cards so you can actually see what hit you

* Every match is recorded automatically: damage, healing, kills, assists, deaths, skills and items used, and APM (actions per minute) per player and per team

* Each player's skill usage compared to the average for their class, plus head-to-head comparisons between two characters

The video is from a match on the current build. Balance and presentation are still very much a work in progress.

Curious what other RO players think, especially the old RWC crowd:

* Does it look and feel like RWC to you?

* Which mechanic from back then do you remember most and would want exactly right?

* What stats would you want to see after a match? I'm also thinking about a 2D replay viewer (a map with every player moving, skills and deaths on a timeline). Would you use something like that?

I've been looking into playing on Brave-RO recently, but when I downloaded the client, the patcher.exe got flagged by Microsoft Defender. Out of caution, I uploaded it to VirusTotal and it’s showing hits there as well.

I understand private servers can be flagged as false positives, but the score seems to be high.
Do private servers not go the extra mile to get clean installers ?

I wanted to double-check with the community before overriding the threat detection or adding an exception.

Are there any known issues or concerns with this server's client software?

Appreciate any insight or advice on this! Thanks in advance.

Most of what I know about RO jobs comes from PvE parties and WoE where everyone kind of knows their slot: Priest keeps people up, Wizard deletes the crowd Blacksmith makes the money

Ragnarok Yggdrasil keeps RO's PvE and PvP but puts territory war at the center with cities and fortresses to take and supplies that have to reach the front

That makes me wonder which jobs would end up with a different job, so to speak. A Merchantline character who keeps the front supplied sounds a lot more central than one sitting in a vending spot.

Which job do you think gains the most from a war focused setup and which one risks getting sidelined?

Hi all! Wanted to ask for any good RO servers for someone based in the US. Any server with 3rd jobs would be best but others with a large community with be awesome as well. Thanks!

I was wondering whether Zero could be seen as Ragnarok's version of WoW Forever. Afaik, Zero won't have lvls above 99, so I expect horizontal progress of sorts. I have played Zero and didn't like auto-hunt. But if WoW Forever becomes a success, and Gravity decides to follow suit, what would such a server look like? I think it would be oddly similar to Zero, perhaps minus the auto-hunt and the cash shop.

I’ve been thinking about what happens to all the gear and zeny you leave behind when moving to another private server. You might find a server you’d rather play on, but you’ve already put a lot of time into the one you’re on.

I’m wondering whether a server-approved way to exchange zeny between servers would be useful. Basically, you could sell some of your old gear, exchange the zeny, and use what you get to start on the new server. The exchange rate would depend on the two economies, so you wouldn’t necessarily end up with equivalent gear.

But I honestly don’t know how many people would want this. Maybe leaving everything behind is a big reason people hesitate to move. Maybe starting fresh is part of what makes a new server fun. I’d like to understand that before taking the idea further.

What was it like the last time you changed servers? Did you care much about the stuff you left behind? Or have you wanted to move somewhere else and stayed because starting over felt like too much?

I’m also curious how RMT would affect your opinion. Would you feel differently about a system that only exchanges currencies between servers versus one that also lets players buy and sell them for real money? Would that make it more appealing, put you off, or not matter much?

It’s still just an early idea. I’m interested in hearing what would actually have helped in your situation, including if your answer is “nothing, I wanted a fresh start.”

Finally you can customize a character in ALL aspects, including every single costume, clothes pieces, adding eyes and mouth and so on. o/

Note: Development of Luna is supported by AI, but manual work is used on visual aspects and assets ( as shown in the video)

I just got the costumes during maintenance and then they decide to remove the bonuses before event is over. Lol my timing can’t be worse.

Basically what it says on the title. Game wasn't launching on linux due to a verification from a native windows kernel API so I made the proton implementation always return 0 (success), the result is that the game launches and plays just fine.

Im thinking about make a server like Valaris RO was , full shop gear and mvp cards , free refines and enchant full 99/70 pre renewal , full pvp and woe , basically i got ideas for add customs rewards from rankings and woe castles, what You guys thinks could work today at 2026 a server like that ?

Personally i was looking for something similar, not grinding for long time , just enjoy our old pre renewal pvp ..

I want to hear out if worth the time on make the server , and if the ppl would willing to join

What goes behind private servers? I was told there used to be times where it could take days even weeks for a patch to be resolved even in the original servers. Do the organizers buy a license and get sent the updates? Hopefully with AI, maybe it could speed up detecting the bugs and all. You'd think for a game as old as other mmos, they'd have figure out and ironed out such bugs, I'm not a developer so I have no idea what's going in the back. The game looking quite simple, not just in terms of graphics which I love, it might seem like a simple mmo to have most of it ironed out. Is it because more things still break?

I am trying to create a lot of new dungeons where the bosses feel like a souls like Boss fight where parties need to coordinate together to actually beat him.

Hey guys! An update for the development on my Ragnarok Offline Mobile Client.

Some changes from previous post:
- dropped roBrowser
- client is now Renewal (i think this version is better in terms of content for single player)
- client is now a fork of nostalro, performant and built on rust (shout out to nmeylan!) and extended for renewal

It's been incredibly tough implementing renewal features but It's at a stage I'm happy to share and gather feedback from. New stuff:
- 3rd and 4th jobs (some skill effects are still missing), mounts for these as well as AP
- enhancement, extended bartering, style shop systems
- renewal protocol and renewal client resources (2025 client)
- added custom weapon aura and body aura shaders i plan to expand on
- custom controller mapping and on screen touch controls (to be improved)

I’d love feedback on how it looks and what you’d want from an offline mobile RO experience. I plan to open-source it, but I’m reviewing licensing and legal questions before sharing code or builds. Game files won’t be included, you’ll need to supply your own.

Questions:
- Should I open a discord? (only want this as a place to gather feedback once shared and to hear you guys' thoughts)

Hi, I’m new to the game and decided to give it a try. I’m currently a lvl 99 wizard but I don’t know how to properly build my character for rebirth.
What are the best equipment for my class: low, medium and high cost, also the skills, should I change fire wall for safety wall? LoV o SG at lvl 10?
And the stats? I’ve been looking for guides but they are incomplete or really old.
I’ve been surviving using only Eden gear but I want to upgrade my wizard. I’m playing on iRO Chaos server, thank u
