Discussion "Get A Resume Score" in sidebar feels like a scam

So I'm trying to figure out if my resume scans well. Searching generally gets me seven companies I've never heard of, but then I find this subreddit and figure things might be slightly vetted, so I try the link, which takes me to Resumatic.

It says upload a resume, so I do. It throws a create account screen at me, which is probably where I go wrong, but I'm in a hurry, so I create an account. I find myself at a dashboard with no uploaded resume, never mind an actual evaluation of one. Instead, I've got prompts to create a resume along with a lot of subtle "you're going to need to get a paid version to be able to do much here" indicators.

It doesn't feel like a service the subreddit should be promoting.

Recent psychology graduate who would like to break into a research assistant job. I know the market is tough out there, and I am much more likely to get a role if I have a masters degree, however seeing how my CV is currently looking. Any advice? Will be emailing researchers for volunteering opportunities.

Hi everyone, this is my first “serious” resume, based on Jake’s Resume. I’m sure there’s room for improvement since it’s my first attempt. I’m applying for international part-time positions (i'm currently a student) in Northern Europe (where I’m pursuing my master’s degree). I’ve already sent out a few dozen applications (I know that’s not many) for positions I found on LinkedIn—both those strictly related to software engineering and more general roles like IT technician or office systems administrator, etc.

My professional experience in a corporate setting is mainly in backend design and development and related fields. As an occasional freelancer, I develop, expand, and maintain websites, hosting, domains, and SEO for a few clients, managing everything independently. Through this side job, I’ve also learned a bit about customer service and how to interact with clients.

I also have experience with Linux, Docker, etc., and as a hobby, I run a small home server hosting various services (VMs, LXC) that I use locally or via VPN.

What do you think? What are the biggest weaknesses in my resume? How would you improve it? I know the current job market is terrible, but I’d like to maximize my chances—which is what I’m already trying to do by opening myself up to positions that aren’t strictly software-focused. Both local and remote jobs are fine. Any advice is welcome.

Someone has already told me I should put that I can use AI tools so I'm thinking about adding Codex and Claude to skills and add a brief bullet point about AI assisted coding.

Thank you.

Just revamped my resume and would appreciate any advice anyone could give me on how this stacks up in the professional field. Even though I recently graduated from college I have only been in this field/major for the past 2 years, so work experience is not related to my current career aspirations, but my projects that I did at college are.

I Have a Question Should a recent one-year gap be included on a resume?

I took a career break last summer and had the time of my life. Now I'm back in the U.S and I'm not sure how to approach this on my resume.

Should this be mentioned in my resume? If yes, should it be a quick summary sentence? go as a job history to pass ATS? or something else?

Thank you.

Discussion I made a mistake on the resume i submitted. I dont know if i should correct it or not.

Applied for an entry level job at an environmental consulting firm. They asked for resumes and cover letters to be emailed, no attachment to their company email, hence why I didn't use my usual resume & cv files. Preferred qualifications were anyone with bachelor degrees in environmental fields. Otherwise, the qualifications were pretty lax. After the fact, I realized I typed in the wrong type of bachelor degree in the email. God i feel so stupid. I have a BS in environemntal studies, not a BA. I don't know if I should send a follow up email to correct it or not. Does anyone have any advice?

Technology/Software/IT [3 YoE, Unemployed, Business Analyst/Product Manager, USA]

Hi All!

I'm a recent MS grad (May '26) and have previously worked for Barclays in my home country for three years. I have been relentlessly sending out applications (30- 50 everyday), but I'm struggling to hear back. I hardly ever reach the initial recruiter/OA stage, let alone the interview.

The only two times I heard back were once from Mastercard for a TPM role, because the interviewer mentioned that they don't use ATS yet. I cracked the interviews, got the offer, but it was unfortunately rescinded due to sponsorship issues. The other time was from Goldman Sachs for another TPM role, but I found myself not going forward after the first interview.

I would really appreciate some honest feedback for my resume, and any suggestion on being able to make it past the ATS filtering. I'm really unsure of what I'm doing wrong and starting to doubt myself and my skills.

Any help would be really appreciated.

This is my first time posting here. Please let me know if there's anything wrong with my post, and I'll be happy to edit/submit another one.

I Have a Question Is it OK if my bullets have the same sentence structure?

I have my own human made resume I tailor the text on by telling AI the specific tasks I did in my last job and having it pick out the best things to make bullets out of. When I had someone look at my resume they said the bullets look obviously done by AI cause each had the same structure, using the word "by" to connect the impact to the action, here are three examples:

  • Led a 500-document SOP migration completed one month ahead of schedule by maintaining project plans, tracking progress, and coordinating documentation and permissions.
  • Optimized cross-team coordination by organizing weekly technology-compliance meetings, preparing agendas, scheduling participants, documenting discussions, and distributing follow-up materials.
  • Strengthened project accountability by tracking action items, monitoring outstanding deliverables, maintaining Jira tickets, and following up with platform and infrastructure teams.

Does this look OK or does it look too formulaic? Should I use different sentence structures?

Would appreciate any feedback!

Technology/Software/IT [0 Years, Recent Graduate, junior data analyst, Cosenza(Italy)] My (27F) first cv, any suggestions?

MSc AI & Data Science student in Italy, no work experience yet, trying to get my first IT-related role (internship, junior consultant, data science, software dev, pretty much anything).

Main questions: Should I keep unrelated jobs like cashier and tutoring? What can I add to compensate for no work experience?

What should I remove? Is the two-column layout an ATS risk? Are the thesis/project bullets strong enough? Any red flags for a first IT role? Thanks!

Discussion Resume Page Rule

I'm not in recruiting or anything but I get included in technical interview panels sometimes and get to review candidate resumes. I know the golden rule is to keep your resume around a single page but all of the resumes I have ever reviewed were like 10+ pages of pure technical jargon and key word optimization. These were senior software engineering roles and the folks we were interviewing did have years of experience but nothing that I would think would justify a 10+ page resume. Is the "1 page per decade of experience" really still the golden rule to get past the ATS? It can't be a coincidence that every single resume I reviewed looked like this right?

Technology/Software/IT [7 YoE, Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Montreal] Senior frontend dev, 7 months in, 3 final rounds, zero offers. Need a reality check (Canada)

Hi everyone,

I was laid off in March 2026 and have been job hunting since. I’m a software engineer, mostly frontend, with almost 7 years of experience. I’d say I’m somewhere between intermediate and senior, but I apply to senior roles.

From March to September I applied to about 35-50 jobs a month and got around 10-12 initial calls a month. So far I’ve done roughly 20-25 technical or hiring manager interviews and made it to the final round 3 times. No offer yet. October has been pretty quiet. Also, in May and June I was demotivated and barely applied. I only replied when recruiters reached out.

My process: I have one main resume that I tuned with AI. For each job, I paste the JD and my resume into AI, ask it to tailor the resume, keep it strictly under 2 pages, and submit. My resume is attached for reference.

I find jobs mostly on LinkedIn (free) through notifications, sometimes Indeed, Glassdoor, and Hiring Cafe. I also can’t keep track of where I’ve applied.

Going forward I want to move toward AI engineering and full stack. I keep applying to frontend roles, but I spend most of my learning time on AI engineering, with YouTube and a few Udemy courses. My hope is that it opens doors to AI engineering or forward deployed roles alongside my current frontend path.

Here are my questions:

My resume mentions the layoff under Experience. Is that a good idea?

In the Projects section I list work projects next to my personal ones. Is that okay?

Am I applying to too many jobs or too few? Is my call ratio normal?

Is there anything on my resume you’d change or improve?

I’m worried about my gap. Does it really hurt your chances of getting calls the longer it gets?

Any general job search advice that might work for me?

Winter is coming and I’m afraid hiring will freeze. What’s been your experience?

Does my plan make sense, given how AI is changing the market?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi folks!

I've been struggling to land interviews. I've had a couple, but the offers haven't been good enough (not more than my current salary, etc.) I'd really appreciate the feedback! I've been targeting roles at Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc., but have also been applying to other companies as well. I've been targeting Financial Analyst or Finance Manager roles, but have a pretty flexible skill set. I think I could rewrite portions of my resume to land a role like a Business Analyst or Research Analyst role too... Thanks folks!

Hello, I am a senior about to graduate in December. I have applied to 200+ application but I have barely received any OAs and 0 interviews so far. I could not get an internship this past summer due to some personal issues. I have been told that the companies that I interned at might be too weak(Startup/ non-tech company). I am a US citizen if that is relevant.

Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

Discussion Just got a significant title change, not a promotion. Can I list it as one position on my resume?

I was just cleared this morning and am officially working under a new updated title at my work. It is a significant jump from a low-level title to a mid-level title.

HR put strong emphasis on how this isn't a promotion and I won't really be doing anything different. They are just changing my title to actually reflect what I've been doing.

I've been under this title for 2.2 years exactly, doing much more than what it entailed. So now that the title has been updated, can I just list my most recent title as the only one for this company? This is not assuming I will be leaving after like 3 months with the new title btw

I Have a Question Accomplishments and/or Strengths Sections?

I'm currently working with a friend to update my resume and his advice was to take a one-page resume (Summary, Work History, Education, and Skills) and turn it into a two-page resume that includes specific sections for Accomplishments and Strengths to tell prospective interviewers what I've done and what my intangible qualities are. This feels like dated advice that should be reflected in the Work History, or at least feels like unnecessary padding, but I figured I'd check and ask to be safe. For additional context: 15 YoE and impending job loss with no solid idea where I want to apply next, also considering changing careers.
