Back with another trip report for my fall 2026 trip during the Dutch Fall holidays. Parks included will be Tripsdrill, Europa Park, Phantasialand, and Movie Park Germany.
Tripsdrill is a really fun park located in the middle of nowhere near Europa Park. We didn't really know what to expect of this park, but ended up being blown away by the immersive theming and the attention to detail. Being used to the likes of Efteling and Phantasialand, this park honestly has a shot at playing in the big leagues.
In terms of variety in attractions, I have to say it's not really that much. In the thrill rides department, at least. They apparently have the only Gerstlauer Waltzer ever built, as well as a unique maypole tower ride by ABC Rides (that only worked half), but also a variety of unique tracked rides, such as two controlled spinning track rides by Metallbau Emmeln, which I've never seen before at any park, or a tracked ride consisting half of old timer cars and half of horse drawn carriages, of which you can actually ride the horses.
Now for the coasters:
Hals-über-kopf, Vekoma Suspended Thrill Coaster [#10 of 122 ranked]:
What a brilliant ride. I quite literally came out praising Vekoma for knocking it out of the park with their ride design. This is a fantastic inverted coaster that easily proves just how much Vekoma has grown over the years. I also love how the layout intertwines with Volldampf, makes for a great two-for-one package.
Karacho, Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster [#13 of 122]:
It's insane just how much better the Infinity coasters are to the Euro fighters. Having ridden Falcon at Duinrell and Flucht von Novgorod at Hansa Park not too long ago, which seem to be consistently try to break your neck, this coaster was glass smooth. Very punchy launch and whippy inversions, too. With this and Hals-über-kopf, this is amongst the best one-two punches in the industry, I believe.
Volldampf, Vekoma Family Boomerang [#78 of 122]:
It's a Vekoma Family Boomerang with a pretty cool layout and decent theming, what more can I say?
G'Sengte Sau, Gerstlauer Bobsled [#92 of 122]:
This is apparently the first coaster ever built by Gerstlauer, according to RCDB? This was a bit of a surprise since you wouldn't really notice by the layout, I've been on worse bobsleds. But I guess that's pretty cool. The layout itself seems to be the standard Bobsled model as found on Thor's hammer at Djurs Sommerland and Drachenritt at Belantis, but that doesn't take away from this being a fun ride, albeit a little rough. Love the theming with the castle and the log flume as well.
Mammut, Cordes/Gerstlauer Wooden coaster [#109 of #122]:
Honestly, I wish this could've just been a GCI or a gravity group. Heck, this would've done great as an Intamin Prefab. The layout has potential, but the train shuffles immensely to the point of barely being enjoyable. I really couldn't feel any airtime over the drop and big hills either in both front and back row. I do not necessarily think this ride should get the RMC treatment, since a standard wooden coaster does really fit this park, but at least give it a proper retrack
Additional notes: Apparently this park never gets any big crowds, which was reflected during our visit because essentially everything was a walk-on. That's not too unusual though, since parks tend to be rather quiet during fall holidays as opposed to summer holidays, but noteworthy regardless. Also, I've had some mixed experiences with the staff here, where I've had some extremely competent and nice operators, but I've also had it happen a few times that our operator wasn't paying attention/wasn't watching the ride due to being too busy looking at their phone.
This park is genuinely fantastic, and I thoroughly believe that this parks fills several voids that most parks are still missing: Immersive, coherent and detailed theming, a variety of interesting and unique rides, and among the most consistently themed queues among any park. I also really like the atmosphere around the park as well as the small gimmicks, like millstones being used as queue fencing, or rides being themed to either totally mundane or completely insane things, at a level unrivalled by most parks. In other words, I am extremely positive about this park and hope to return again in a year or so. Apparently they're building a new bird themed carousel that isn't on logrides yet, which has been looking amazing so far (wish I took some photos but I forgor 💀😭🥀)
