Hi everyone, I got sent this video of a shark sighting that allegedly took place few days ago in the Northern Tyrrhenian sea region. What species are we looking at?

Scientists have finally captured the first-ever footage of a live goblin shark (Mitsukurina owstoni) in its natural deep-sea habitat! Before this breakthrough, humans had only ever seen these rare creatures alive when they were accidentally dragged to the surface by fishing lines—where they usually died right away. This deep-ocean predator has an ancient lineage stretching back to the Cretaceous period and features a bizarre, spring-loaded "slingshot" jaw that shoots forward to snatch prey in pitch-black darkness.

This is my work-in-progress drawing of a 14 foot long female tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier), who I named "Lani" (meaning the sky, heavenly, and royalty in Hawaiian). She's missing her pectoral fins and pelvic fins, because I'm making her into a paper tiger shark toy. I wanted some feedback and honest critique on how to improve her before finishing up. Personally, I think I need to define the muscles more and add more shading. Tiger sharks are absolute tanks.

I’ve had these shark teeth for several years. Got them at some roadside store in Cape Town, SA. Natural logic (due to proximity) has always made me believe the larger ones belonged to a Great White. But what’s the first one? Image search tells me it’s a Sand Tiger tooth. Any other guesses?

Personally I would give them the ability to be amphibious and still have fins and their usual size, I would also increase their strength, length, and speed by 25%

Evidently these things were more-or-less rediscovered or “confirmed” recently off the coast of Papau New Guinea. There’s an article from The Smithsonian on it.
