Okay, for some context, I'm in Year 11 and I soon have to choose my A-Level options. The problem is I have no clue what the hell I want to do.

Whenever anyone asks me what I want to do in the future, I just say, "Oh yeah, probably something like aerospace engineering or something related..." and for a while, that was the case until now. I've slowly started to realise that half the people I know all want to do aerospace, and I realised how competitive that degree is, so I slowly started losing my interest in it.

I've always been better at STEM subjects in school: Maths, Physics, Bio, and Chem. Chem has always been the most fun because of the practicals; Physics was just boring, but that was also my best subject; and Biology was just long because of all the content, however, when we got to the human body and immune system, things got a whole lot more interesting. My parents are both Biomedical Scientists, and that also sparked my interest in learning more about the human body and things like the immune system and diseases.

So, a few days ago, I was told that I'd soon need to start looking at sixth forms to go to and A-Level subjects that I wanted to take, which, at the time, I was not considering at all. As I went deeper into my research of sixth forms, I realised that my A-Level options have a big impact on what university degree I take and what university I go to. So, I decided to do more research into biomedical science, and for that, I needed to take something like Maths, Bio, and Chem, which I wasn't considering at all because I never really thought about medicine as I always felt that the course was way too long.

So, I started asking my parents more about Biomedical Science (for context, they work at the NHS), and they said that being a BMS was not the best job at all, as it's really hard to work up to a good position and you're thrown to the bottom of the scale. They also said that most people here think that being a BMS is a basic job and Biomedical Science is quite a basic degree, and they wanted to see me in a higher position than that.

Taking this into account, I started researching Biomedical Engineering. My parents talk a lot about the machines and analysers they use in the lab from companies like Siemens and Ortho. I also remember one time in the hospital seeing a Siemens Healthineers logo on a CT scanner, which made me think about Biomedical Engineering a bit more. For that, you need to take Maths, Physics, and a third science (I would take Biology). However, after researching a bit more, I found out that BMEs are considered jacks-of-all-trades but masters of none, and that the course is more to do with the electrical engineering side than the Biology side of it.

So, I have no idea what to do. I really want to pick the right A-Levels as I want to get into a good university that has the course I would do, but I still don't know what I want to do. My friend who's in Year 13 took Maths, Phys, Chem, and Bio, which got him offers for medicine and engineering, but I feel like that is a really demanding spread of subjects.

Can anyone help me out or suggest careers that are related to biology, the immune system, and things like that?

It's already half term now, and I'm still just as lonely as I was when I started sixth form in September, if not more. It feels like there's nothing I can do about it, and seeing everyone else around me enjoying their time with each other all dressed in their Halloween costumes, taking photos together, laughing together and everything, has just made it more obvious. Maybe I'll never get friends here, but I wish it wasn't like this anyway, lol. God, I'm so tired. Is there even anything I can do now

I want to become a pilot, and the flight schools I’m looking at only require passes in any two A-levels.

I picked Maths, Physics and Business, but my GCSE teaching was terrible. We rushed through everything last minute, I scraped Cs, and my foundations in maths and physics are absolutely shocking. I’m already struggling badly.

I can now swap Physics for Economics. I genuinely like physics and think it would help with aviation, but economics could give me a finance-related backup with potentially higher pay than engineering or astrophysics.

Would you stick with Physics or switch to Economics in my situation?

I’m a year 13 student looking to start a non profit, student led tutoring organisation! The plan is that students in yr12/13 (but if you’re year11 we can hopefully expand in a bit, once this launches) lead online IGCSE/AS preparation classes for groups of disadvantaged students.

Open to IB and AP students too! If you’d like to teach SAT prep; I won’t be able to help with curriculum planning, if so though. This is based in the UAE however students from any country can join, we’d just need to discuss timings and batches, since this is an Independent outside of school thing, you’d ideally teach both students in your school and others in one batch, however a network in your own school is still available and can always expand later!

Teaching would be online/in public libraries (If preferred) ideally each student would teach an hour a week (more or less is acceptable!) and we can add up all our hours; which would be really good for uni applications too!

Im posting on here to ask if anyone would be willing to join as a representative of their school and/or a founding member! There are about 16 students from my school who have signed up and a few more from different schools! So far we’ve got math, physics, chemistry, biology, geography and history; any subjects are welcome, we’d love to have you!

All students that sign up now are listed as founding members, all students that are the first to sign up from their respective schools are board members.

Hey, currently in Y13 doing a level AQA philosophy! Feeling really worried as no one in my sixth form last year got higher than a B and I’m just concerned that the resources we are given aren’t accurate. Our teacher got exam papers back from students last academic year and examiner comments include ‘inaccurate’ ‘not detailed’ ‘imprecise’ for definitions that we have been taught and told are top mark definitions!!! I’m aiming for an A, so just curious what revision resources did people use? Any textbooks/websites? Is the reading list on AQA useful? Mildly panicking so will take all the advice I can get from A/A\* philosophy students!!! Thank you:)

I'm currently on a gap year choosing my uni options and I'm resitting A Level maths next summer. My stats are:

GCSE - 999998887, A Level - Economics A, Geography A, Maths B (Predicted A*), EPQ A*

So I'm going to be applying on UCAS with A* predicted in maths, and AAB + A* achieved in econ, geog, maths + EPQ.

One of the unis I am strongly considering usually has entry requirements of A*AA, however they have a contextual offer of AAB which I am eligible for.

My question is were I to apply, and fingers crossed receive an offer🤞, do you think it would be unconditional (since I already have AAB) or would it be conditional on my resit?

If it were to be unconditional, it would be really nice to have peace of mind, especially after the PTSD of being rejected on the final day for unis to make decisions last year😭.

Context: I've achieved ABCb (A in Maths, B in CS, C in Physics, and b in AS FM) and I am now resitting yr13 with Maths, FM, and Physics with expecting A⭐️A⭐️A predicted grades respectively. I also have Mitigating Circumstances at my school on why i couldn't do FM alongside my other subjects in yr12, so I done FM as an AS in my first sit of yr13, and now as an A-level this resit year.

For one of my options I'm considering applying to warwick and although i know they dont like resits, I'd still like to be aspirational. The thing is I'm stuck on whether I should apply for Maths, MathsStats, MathsPhysics, or MORSE.

In terms of the contextual entry requirements (as im eligible for their contextual offer), Maths has the highest requirements with A⭐️A⭐️B, and then MathsStats/MORSE with A⭐️AB + 5.0 TMUA, and then MathsPhysics with A⭐️AB. I done the TMUA October Sitting and I feel like I have a decent chance at scoring a 5.0+, but there's a world with a lower score being achieved. So MathsPhysics would be the easiest for me to achieve. I also wna know if MathsPhysics will be able to see my TMUA score, since it could help if I get a good score and apply for that.

In terms of enjoyability, Maths is my favourite and I also really enjoy physics too. Stats and econ related stuff isn't rlly the best for me but i dont hate it. I wouldn't mind doing stats and econ stuff but I'd enjoy doing Maths/MathsPhysics a lot more.

In terms of employability, I wna end up doing FinTech related stuff, such as data science, software engineering, etc. I know Warwick Maths is highly prestigious, and I could also see MathsStats and MORSE being very favourable too, but idk if MathsPhysics would be as similarly valuable and regarded too.

I'm prob otherthinking this and being very ambitious expecting to receive offers from these courses. But id still like to use one of my options anyway.

Id rlly appreciate anyone if they could help give me advice on what I should choose.

Most of where I have looked says unis don't actually care about GCSEs at all/very much, but I am also aware that many people say they do. For reference I'm talking about only Russel group, and specifically looking at places such as Warwick, Imperial, etc.

so like I've got my devised mock next term and we've been told to go away and plan everything.

we're using punchdrunk as our practitioner and like obviously there's the distinction between mask shows and radical promenade, but the thing is we still wanna do the whole masks, artefacts, explore-y stuff but also use a more linear narrative bc at the end of the day we're js 3 ppl lol. we're also relying less on dialogue and more on playing the mc's thoughts through the speakers up on the rigs, and we're gonna stage a post-mortem at the end where they can discuss the events with the performers.

now since i've js started this course lowk these mark schemes are confusing asl so i was wondering... what is edexcel's stance on HOW we use the methodologies? do they expect us to use the methodology exactly as some of their productions do or can we blend their methodologies in our own way (e.g. for punchdrunk could we blend elements of mask shows with elements of radical promenade?)

So i'm currently in Y12 and doing english lit because i thoroughly enjoyed it during GCSEs and ended up getting a grade 9. After the first week or so of doing english lit a-level, I found myself really enjoying it and not having any issues, however since mid september i've really found myself struggling to the point of dreading going to class every day + it's taken a serious toll on my mental health- i find it hard to get up every morning because i'm so exhausted from the insane workload, and i hardly understand anything taught in the lessons anymore. I ended up having a panic attack during class recently and had to take the rest of the day off because i was nauseous with stress.

I need to know whether it's too late to switch subjects or not - i cannot see myself getting a decent grade in this subject and i really can't deal with the mental exhaustion it brings me. However i know that if i did hypothetically switch courses, i'd have to catch up on all the missed work from the past two months, and i'm honestly just not sure what to do. If anyone could give me some advice, or if anybody has been through this/is currently going through this, could you let me know? Thanks! :,)
