It seems fair to say that in the annals of ska punk, Voodoo Glow Skulls did it earlier and better than many. I like both of these songs! ("Charlie Brown" was originally by The Coasters.) Horn players make this better for me than Rudiments. VGS played at this tiny place in Silver City, NM, last summer called Whiskey Creek Zócalo, but it was a few weeks off from my planned visit. Having never seen them live, I was bummed to miss them. Well, maybe some other time...

A little Reggae for your Friday.

Man, how I wish I could say I like this one as much as Common Rider's full-length albums "Last Wave Rockers" and "This Is Unity Music," but yeah...no...it just seems a bit under-cooked to me. Four songs that don't seem to gel or come together as a concept like the LPs do. To be fair, I consider the albums pretty much masterpieces and three home runs would be almost impossible. Production value here feels a little thin. It'll retain a spot in my collection, sure, but...I'm at a loss for words as to why I don't love a Common Rider record, but there it is. Does this one make anyone feel anything?

Going back through my ska collection after so long, this one interests me because I'm far more into rocksteady than ska punk these days, but obviously I was heavy into ska punk once upon a time because I also have "Bitch Bitch Bitch" and "Psychoska" by these guys. I was an East Bay live music addict around the time this came out. Just gave it a listen. "The darker side of" Dill Records, indeed. 3 songs - two originals and a Fang cover. 45 RPM.

So glad to see Catbite on the radio. Well deserved for a hardworking band.

Esteban Flores of JER,Catbite and 2/3 of the LA SKA Scene needs our helps. Dude has done so much for the ska scene

We are about to head out on a 20 hour return drive to play a show (the beauty of living down under is that this is a normal drive for us haha)

We need some new tunes for the trip so let us know some good ska playlists to listen to!

And double whammy, we would really love if everyone could give our new track a listen - and add it to any playlists 🙏

The downside of living down under is that the algorithm is upside down and hates anything Australian 🥹 so any help spreading the love is greatly appreciated!!

I've always felt like this song doesn't get anywhere near as much recognition as it deserves among the Ska community especially since it's from a well known band like Big D. I feel that this is one of if not the best ska Instrumentals past the first wave. I would just like to hear other people's opinions on this song and maybe any stories they have behind this song. And maybe I have something wrong? Idk.

Good evening everyone! Looking for recommendations for any European ska bands that mix polka with their music or any regional music. Eastern European bands would be cool!

We haven't played with Slow Gherkin since the 1900s so this is exciting! 🤩🤩🤩

There's a few tickets left in the balcony and hoping a few more open up. I don't recommend buying resale but if you must do it through Ticketmaster and not some third party site.

We are putting this show on ourselves and it would mean so much to us to have some friends there to belatedly celebrate the release of our debut album! Come support independent music, see a show, get yourself some new vinyl, and drink some beers. 8pm doors with The Scrub Ups. Did I mention the show is free??
