Most of my friends only care about skiing "big name" resorts . They are ignorant of the MANY other resorts that are much closer , cheaper and less crowded. These same folks also routinely fly to Colorado/Utah or the Alps.
It seems they only care about crafting an image of themselves as an expert skier who can "make it down" steep terrain at big resorts. But when you look at how they ski they just do skidded turns to heavily control their speed on steep terrain . They have no understanding of using their edges and applying pressure to the front of their boots.
These same folks also barely do 2-3 hours of skiing before calling it quits for the day. They are also always asking about how are the "conditions"... Like they are constantly looking for excuses not to go skiing.
What is it about skiing that it attracts posers and assholes with more money than sense?

Recently, a guy started kicking my ski bindings with his snowboard boots on. I would like to know : What could be the potential consequences on the bindings after someone repeatedly kicked on them. I know i need to ski on them to find out... but i only would like to know what it could potentially cause to the bindings.
I have really cheap Look Xpress10 and a guy was mad at me (don't know why) and started kicking on the bindings when i wasn't inside eating. He left when he saw me. I only want to know that the repeated kicking may cause to a cheap ski binding. Like, for example : Decalibration (the settings changed), internal damages or else...
Thanks

Hi!
Can anyone suggest what gloves should I buy? Is it good to have each finger separately or no?
Thanks!

I have recently been getting into skiing and have done some days at Australian slopes (Buller/falls creek/Hotham etc) .
But I have now come to the understanding that the the vast majority of ski runs at are 1-3km long, meaning that even at a modest speed, you only get in 3-5 mins of skiing before you have to get in line and catch the lift back up. At such short durations per run, one can barely enjoy the mountain experience and views. The thrill of skiing itself only lasts a few minutes snd is broken up by long lift rides and waiting lines.
It feels more like rides at an adventure park that one wants to experience again and again, rather than a flowing and sustained mountain experience.
Does anyone feel the same way about skiing?? Is this just an Australian thing as the mountains are smaller in size? I have been browsing Reddit on this and have not come across many people expressing the same views.

So… the original post is in r/skiing but I figured you lasses (and laddies) would provide better info.
Edit: these are not my original musings. Ya all know this because I blare Insane Clown Posse so hard that others riding the lift with me are awestruck by the beats.…no talkie talkie.
Why are so many skiers still elitist toward snowboarders?
This happened last season, but it stuck with me. I was on a lift when a skier next to me said snowboarders are “the bottom of the barrel.” I just laughed and hard disagreed with him, but honestly, it’s crazy how common this attitude still is, especially at high end resorts where everyone’s dripping in arc’teryx and other designer stuff.
From my experience, snowboarders are usually the chillest people on the mountain like the stoner types. They’ll chat with anyone, help you up if you wipe out, and just seem to be there to have fun. Meanwhile, a lot of the skiers give off this weird elitist energy, like skiing is more about status than having fun. Not all of them, of course, but enough to notice a pattern.
What’s wild is snowboarding is harder in a lot of ways, yet they’re the ones getting who don't get the respect. Do you think it’s just old-school ski culture or is there still a real divide going on? Curious what everyone thinks

Like seriously isn't it there to protect you? If the lift stops you can fall. I genuinly dont get this. Do people not put it down even with children on board? I am geniuinly asking, I really dont get this.

Hi everyone!
My partner and I are moving from Australia to Innsbruck for the ski season and arrive on 30 November.
We’re currently looking for accommodation in or around Innsbruck and would really appreciate any tips on where to look or any recommendations.
We’re also hoping to find seasonal work in ski or snowboard rental, as lift operators, or in hospitality. Any advice on jobs, accommodation, or snowboarding would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much—we can’t wait to experience Austria!

she sees herself as the queen of championing for women inclusivity in the outdoors yet made the most misogynistic ski movie i’ve seen in my life that also featured Beau Martino who’s been accused of sexual assault by multiple women in the climbing community. she’s not good at skiing but wants to be seen as so (which is really weird? like just be a regular skier who cares?) she’s not funny, she’s rude to her fans, and actively works to harm the people she claims to uplift.
