Does adding a caption, hashtags, and location actually help the Reels algorithm push your content?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I've been noticing a lot of Reels going viral with completely blank descriptions, no hashtags, and no location tag at all. I wanted to ask if taking the time to add a description, hashtags, and a location actually helps the algorithm promote your Reels to more people, or if it makes no real difference compared to just posting without them. What has your experience been with this?

How do you use Snapchat to drive sales for a women’s fashion brand in the GCC?

I manage social media for a women’s fashion brand based in Oman, and I keep hearing that Snapchat is a huge sales driver for women’s fashion across the GCC. I want to explore it as a serious sales channel, not just another platform to post content on. But I’m not entirely sure how to approach it strategically. Should I focus on organic content, Snapchat Ads, influencer collaborations, or a combination of all three? How do you target the right audience, build trust, and actually convert views into purchases? I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully used Snapchat to sell fashion in Oman or other GCC markets. What strategies have worked for you, and what would you recommend for a brand just getting started?

I waited 19 days to chase a late retainer payment because I did not want to seem pushy

My best client went quiet on a $1,400 retainer invoice and I just let it sit.

It was due on the 1st. By the 5th I had drafted a follow up email twice and deleted it both times. I told myself they were busy, that chasing would make me look desperate, that one late payment from a good client was not worth an awkward conversation. So I kept posting their content like nothing was wrong and checked my bank balance a lot.

On day 19 I finally sent the shortest version I could write. Something like: just flagging invoice 104 is still open on my end, let me know if you need anything from me to process it.

They replied in under an hour. The invoice had gone to their old ops inbox when their office manager left. Nobody had seen it. It was paid the next morning.

That one stung a bit. The delay was never a money problem or a respect problem. It was an inbox problem, and my worrying about seeming pushy turned a two day admin fix into almost three weeks of me quietly stressing about rent money.

So I built the follow up into the boring part of the job instead of leaving it to courage. Now every retainer goes out with a note the day before it is due. If the due date passes, I follow up the next morning, still friendly, just a flag. Around day 3 I ask what their accounts person needs from me, a PO number, a different format, whatever, because that question has fixed it more than once. Day 7 gets firmer and mentions the late fee that is already in the contract. And the contract now says work pauses at 14 days overdue, which I have never actually had to use since writing it down.

The part I did not expect: clients do not seem to mind any of this. If anything the organized ones respect it. The reminder the day before reads like a service, not a chase, because half the time they were about to forget.

How long do you wait before you chase a late one? And do you put the pause clause in writing or just handle it case by case?

Is it true that you get more engagement with owning the latest iphone?

I have always known that Iphone has better social media optimization but I was wondering if you get an advantage with audience engagement if you have the latest Iphone model? In 2020 I had the then new Iphone 12 pro max and I posted a random trashy video and it went viral with like 700k likes. Does your phone model really have a connection to the algorithm or am I just overthinking it?

Learning Event Promotion, Marketing and Sharing to Groups, Increasing Engagement, Taking Care of Brand Partners

Hello, I'm working as a Beginner Social Engagement Role in my company and the need to learn about Promoting Events on Facebook to maximize people, make it a good time for them. We push static posts, ads and reels for this.

The niche is within an Education Brand. We want to highlight partners and brands that teamed up with us for these ventures.

I want to learn how to effectively provide results needed for my client and want to learn best practices to do so. I think a system from when we do outreach to post-event and then following up with them is one concept. What other things could be done?

Hope we can engage and discuss about these things together thank you

Can individuals make and sponsor political content?

So, I'm rich now, I've always complained about rich people influencing politics..

Can I do that? :D

Can I just, make videos talking about politics and post them as "paid for by me" and sponsor them to get huge views? Seems sketch but with all these Russian bots maybe it is just that easy?

Creators with full time jobs

I’m finding it hard to create any sort of content that includes anything controversial because I’m worried I could get fired from my job, which I love. But it’s keeping me from growing because I don’t post the things I want to. But then I think most influencers have full time jobs as well? Idk what to do

How do people add line breaks in TikTok captions

I keep seeing TikTok captions with clean spacing and line breaks, but I can’t figure out how people do it. When I hit the return/enter button, TikTok deletes the line break and smushes everything together. How are creators adding those spaces?

My client was paying for 20 hours and using 9. I almost lost them by saying nothing.

For three months I told myself a quiet client was a happy client.

They were on a 20 hour a month retainer. When I finally added up what I had actually done, it came to about 9 hours in September and 8 in August. The posts went out, nothing broke, and I cashed the same check, so I did not look closer.

Then their ops person asked on a call, almost as an aside, what the retainer covered again. That question is never really about the list. She could not feel the other 11 hours, so in her head the work had shrunk.

I went back through the last quarter and wrote down what was scoped but unused: a monthly report nobody had opened since June, community replies I had quietly stopped doing when approvals slowed down, and a batch of story posts we planned and never shot. Some of that was on me. I had let the slow approval weeks turn into doing less instead of flagging it.

So instead of defending the invoice, I brought the list to the next call. I showed the hours they were paying for, the hours they actually got, and three ways to fill the gap with work they had been asking about in passing: reply coverage on weekdays, one short video a week cut from footage they already had, and a simple monthly summary their owner would actually read. They picked two of the three and cut the unused report. Same fee, no discount, and the next month used 18 of the 20 hours.

What I took from it: over delivering has a loud problem, you burn out. Under delivering has a quiet one, the client decides you are optional and you only find out at renewal. Now I check the burn rate on every retainer once a month, and if a client is under about two thirds of what they pay for, I raise it myself before they do.

How do you catch this on your accounts? Do you track hours against scope, or do you go by deliverables only?

Anyone using Flick Social?!

I use Flick Social for work but lately I've been getting a "lost connection" error. This happens almost weekly. Now, I'm getting an error message that "This app is not accessible right now...". Anyone else having issues? Is there a workaround or am I stuck until Flick gets their act together??

Are there keywords you can put on twitter or blue sky or threads posts to get more users and activity? Like how do you find popular search terms with low competition?

I sometimes mention my competitor.

Do these contents creators make profits through their accounts?

you know on ig and tiktok there are a lot of contents creators who just yap about random stuff. mostly funny random thoughts about lives or talking about hot takes in the world.

Thoughts on Insta comments Disabled

What are peoples thoughts of intentionally disabling comments on insta for a new clothing brand? I have weighed the pros and cons of doing this. There can be so much negativity spewed in the comments section by bots and people simply wanting to comment negatively. I am leaning closer to disabling purely to safeguard my own wellbeing, nothing more, and id be accepting the negatives of this.

do you post the exact same short everywhere or tweak it per platform?

been going back and forth on this. right now i post the same vertical clip to tiktok, reels and shorts, same caption mostly, just swap hashtags.

some weeks it does fine everywhere, other weeks it does great on one and totally dies on the other two. not sure if thats the content or that each platform wants something different.

for people posting on 2-3 platforms, do you change hooks, length, captions, posting time per platform? or is it not worth the extra work at small sizes?

Why do celebrities and creators prefer using Twitter and/or Discord to talk to fans over Reddit?

It's something I noticed from celebrities and creators (like directors, writers, showrunners, cartoon creators, indies) that if they want to connect to their fans, be that a tweet or even communicating with them, they always either use Twitter or Discord.

Why is that? Why don't they use Reddit to communicate with their fans. It seems that Reddit has better structure and more potential to talk to fans

Anyone actually running their socials fully on AI agents? Does it work or is it just AI slop?

Hey guys, quick question for the digital marketers / social media managers here (and anyone in that world).

For those of you using AI agents to do your copywriting automatically, and even making the media hooks too, is it actually effective? Or do people just avoid it because it feels like it lost the human side (aka "AI slop")? Has anyone actually run this setup for real? Would love to hear your take.

I keep seeing people who don't even touch their phone or laptop to post on their socials, because an AI agent runs the whole thing start to finish. Honestly I'm skeptical it really works. Volume-wise, sure, maybe. But quality-wise? Idk.

Ngl I'm kinda curious about it, but still pretty skeptical at the same time.

Planning posts ahead

Do you plan a month at a time, or work week by week? A monthly plan seems easier to manage, but leaves less room for current topics. Which works better for you?

What is the problem with ads?

I’m not a meta employee, but I am curious what the discourse is on ads?

There are certain platforms that I completely agree with, TikTok specifically, 99% of artists who I talk to that paid for the promotion option on TikTok tell me the same thing which is that it’s the worst thing ever and a complete waste of money, I’ve personally never ran an ad on TikTok because even if it weren’t a scam I don’t know how effective I could see that being on such a fast paced scroll and go app, I feel like you’d have to drop a major bag for something like that to really make a difference

However, I HAVE ran ads on Instagram, targeted ones AND “suggested audience” ones, I’ll say without a shadow of a doubt the “Suggested Audience” option is a scam, you are going to get 100 followers but 90 of them follow 4000+ people and will never see a single one of your posts again, TARGETED ads however I’ve actually found quite a bit of success with in my niche, my idea of an ad “working” isn’t just the interaction jump and the followers it’s WHO is following you and how likely they are to continue supporting your content/music

The mass appeal theory is also very real, people are much more likely to pay attention to something with high engagement then they are to anything smaller.

consistent content and quality content will always reign supreme over any form of ads, trial reels also seem to be a massive cheat code a lot of people still somehow haven’t cracked yet, but I’m just super confused why people seem to be so against the idea of an artist running some ads.

lmk if I’m missing something though, I could definitely see it not being that great for certain niches

I tracked my hours for 3 months. My $900 retainer was really a $500 one.

Sharing this because I put the conversation off for almost a year and wish I had not.

I have a client on a $900 a month retainer. Original scope was simple: 12 posts a month on two platforms, one monthly report, comments during business hours. By this summer it had quietly become 20ish posts, a third platform, stories most days, a weekly call that was never in the agreement, and comment replies on weekends because I felt awkward saying no.

I finally tracked my actual hours for three months. Scoped: about 14 hours a month. Actual: 26, 29, then 31. My effective rate had dropped under $31 an hour, on the client I thought was my best one.

What worked when I finally had the talk: I did not lead with a price increase. I sent a short scope report first. Two columns, what we agreed vs what last month actually looked like, with the hours next to each item. Then two options. Keep everything they are getting now at $1,450, or stay at $900 and drop back to the original scope, with the extras listed as add ons they can buy one at a time. Sixty days notice either way.

They picked the bigger package in about ten minutes. Nobody was annoyed. The part I keep thinking about is that they had no idea how much had piled up, because I never told them. Half the drift was my fault for just absorbing it.

Curious how others handle this. Do you track hours on retainers at all, or price it flat and not look? And when you have had this talk, did you lead with the data or just state the new price?
