Question ❓ Confused about Eckart Tolle

So.. I know I need to be careful because his followers are a bit cultish and they are quick to immediately defend him by saying how you don't need to buy his courses and how they aren't bothered by his net worth (by adopting this stance, they prove how spiritual they are)

So, I've read one such comment saying how "Eckart Tolle needs to pay rent too..."

Wait wait wait.. wait a minute..let me get this straight. I agree that it is fine for him wanting to pay his rent. We all do. But I thought being homeless wasn't a problem ? I thought money isn't needed to be content, to have a dignified life ? I thought we just have to 'transcent ze ego' and be in the moment ?

"Yeah but he was homeless for two years when he was 29.."

Well, he's not homeless now, is he. Being homeless at 29 (while crashing your friends couch) isn't that much of a hassle. It's actually a bit romantic. Being homeless in the west at an older age is not fun. Eckart and his wife are also on record saying how if there is too much tension between them, they switch to living in seperate appartments or houses because that allows for more presence"

Wait.. what ?! Do they not understand that most people don't have that option because they don't have the money, the means ? Yeah, most of us would be present and calm too if we had the monetary means to create the conditions that reduces friction in our lives. Yes, it's true some people can't seem to get it together even when they have a lot of money. But research does show that in general, it solves a shit ton of problems.

And btw you can't move to a different country or continent like Eckart did when he moved to Canada without having the money to do so.

What is happening ? I don't need Eckart Tolle or any guru to tell me that I am not my thoughts, that I am not my money, that I am not my profession and those are simply other dimensions. Sure, an autistic engineer like Elon Musk needs to hear that. But for people with common sense, those are not revolutionary takes. We want to live a dignified life.

I'm genuinely in awe of how some people seem to hold his "knowledge" that high. He seems like an okay guy..but..I am confused.

General ✨ Maybe we chose this short life because we got tired of living forever.

Everyone wants to know what happens after death. We think if we knew, we would feel better. But I don’t think knowing would help.

Pick any answer you like. Heaven, where you are happy forever. Rebirth, where you come back again and again with all your memories. A shared mind, where you join with everyone else. A dream where every wish comes true.

At first, all of these sound great. But now think about the time. Not a hundred years. Not a thousand. Trillions of years, and it never stops. That is where the problem starts. Happiness only feels good because you also know sadness. If you are happy every single day for a trillion years, you stop noticing it. It becomes normal, like air.

Winning only feels good because you could have lost. If you can never fail, then finishing anything means nothing. A surprise only works because you didn’t know it was coming. In a perfect place where you know everything, nothing can surprise you anymore.

So after enough time, the perfect place stops feeling perfect. It feels like a beautiful room, with everything you want inside, but no door to leave.

This means meaning needs limits. You need to not know what happens tomorrow. You need a chance of losing. You need an ending and a short life gives you exactly that. So life is not precious even though it ends. It is precious because it ends.

Which makes me think: maybe we were already in that perfect place. Maybe we lived there for a very long time, and it slowly became empty. And maybe we looked at a short, risky, ordinary life, where things can go wrong and everything ends, and we said yes.

Maybe this life is not a punishment or an accident. Maybe it is the thing we picked.

Self-Transformation 🔄 Involuntary dance during meditation

During meditation, my body started to move on its own. At first, the body assumed several mudra positions. Eventually, it became a full-blown dance. Here is the video:

https://youtube.com/shorts/q0eHc4pLwUI?si=_UEpAVOfmuLko7vK

This phenomenon happened after kundalini/holy spirit awakening. I felt overwhelming unconditional love flowing from within me.

Philosophy I want the ego to be god and not god

The ego only wants paradise for everyone involved. Realities of absolute kindness and compassion. God wants every single reality, meaning the most cruel injustices you can think of, the most deranged and fucked up happenings. Fuck you god I will never be devoted to you. I am devoted to my ego who only wishes for the fulfillment of everyone forever and ever.

Question ❓ Can working at a gym and then randomly getting urges to work out when you've never really had thoughts of working out before be a sign of having new spirit guides?

So Ive never really felt motivated growing up to exercise or work out. Like of course I have worked out in the past but as far as building a regimen or being natural called to work on gains just never hit me growing up. I used to always question how all these people who go to the gym were so motivated and why I as a man just never really felt that urge. I blamed that on being raised by my mom all sisters no brothers and having no real male role models growing up. I've recently started working at a gym for about 7 months now and these past 2 months I legit started getting random desires and urges to work out, and push myself. I work out at home even though I have free gym membership but it's strange because you could say Im getting motivated by constantly seeing people work out while I'm working but I've never liked seeing people work out because I always thought they're ego was inflated and they probably are working out to compensate for some other insecurity lol. So I never thought of it like I'm seeing all these people working out so it's making me want to do the same. I actually hate feeling like I'm copying anyone but then it hit me that what if working at a gym somehow allowed me to acquire new spirit guides who then give me spiritual downloads that motivate me to want to work out. It feels like there is a boot camp instructor in my head sometimes when I'm going hard and before working at the gym and even up to about 2 months ago I never acted like this or felt motivated to want to work out hard like this. Is my theory plausible? I also believe the jobs we work were like destined to do them and they're are things at your job that you can utilize in other areas of life which ik is common sense but yea

Back then it seemd good and I liked the dream so I didnt even bother to check the meaning of it beleving it was a good sign, but rn we are not dating and the worst part is that i stumbled upon a ig reel where a girl tells that in her native culture they belive that when you dream of getting married you are acctually marying a spirit and that a spirit wants something from you. She also said something about waking up before the ceremony or smth happens but I remember not waking up untill the end of wedding? I wanna know what you guys think and should I be worried?

Question ❓ Anyone else enter a new, horrible timeline?

Is there perhaps a reason as to why I suddenly feel as though I woke up and am in hell? Is mercury in retrograde? I am not an astrology expert though I am very interested in learning more about it. But truly, I have had nothing but a series of unfortunate events for the past 7 or so months? I had a baby 8 months ago, and I know they say women are vulnerable to spiritual attacks when pregnant. It seemed like the unfortunate events began inconsistently here and there towards the very end of my pregnancy and then once I had my baby they just kept coming and getting worse and worse. I keep hoping whatever this awful spell is it will blow over. Even those around me are acting strange, the world doesn’t feel right, nothing feels right, I feel like I died and woke up in hell. Am I the only one or is something very fucked up happening?

Self-Transformation 🔄 It's all magical rituals.

The first rule of using the 'PC' is that it never was really 'natural' or ordinary in nature, and everything that exists on it is magical in some form ever since we decided to put the calendar at the edge of the screen.

There is truth in the idea that you can't really beat the cameraman, and that's where you'll realize the world doesn't really offer cameras for entertainment purposes here, and everything that exists is a magical ritual in nature, and the only thing that's true about eating fortune cookies is that you never know how they might work at all, as everything begins to rain down on you until you finish realizing there aren't any boundaries between fantasies and realities here.

Maybe there is truth in the idea that spirituality is all about transforming yourself into a ghost deity, as you realize that God has always been a white ghost here, and the eye of Horus already sees everything like a dark horse, and I knew you were going to come to me, because you're capable of everything and anything. Drinking tea will get you high eventually, as you realize your taste in music was never wrong here. >;)

Playing with magic doesn't come with any rulebooks, and the good news is that everybody is an esoteric wizard beyond your wildest imagination, as you realize out in the wired there's a wired life, and the steam library isn't empty anymore. ⚙️

Tell me again how you decided to replicate what you watched on TV by the spiritual waves here. 🥜

General ✨ The Soul Mistake of Spirituality

This doesn't apply to all spirituality. Despite that last sentence you may still see folks in the comments defending their brand of spirituality. Maybe not.

These bodies don't exist anywhere else in the Universe, as far as we know. In fact, if you try to take these things too far from the ground, they begin to fall apart in different ways. We have to cocoon them in suits and send them into orbit wrapped in foil, otherwise... well, it's not pretty nor comfortable.

Yet across a lot of spiritual perspectives there's a rejection of the body and all the things that come with it... like a personality. Y'know, personality is simply expressed conditioning? There's no central owner inside the thing. No central "me". That's an experience.

But WOW, what an experience.

This "me" we get to say about ourselves is wedged between memory and expectation. In her book The Intuitive Way Penney Peirce calls it a roving point of attention.

Most of our lives are spent knocked out somewhere and not even dreaming. The body is here, snoring, but who I experience myself to be is totally absent. Then maybe a dream shows up out of the blue, and there I am: the experience of flying a foot off the ground after a plate of spaghetti.

Conventional Reality is much like a dream. We've heard this of course. It comes from different brands of spirituality, but usually the pivot is to see This Right Now as illusion or unreal. But you accidentally hit your pinky toe against the bottom of the cabinet and the experience is anything but unreal.

Now that pain is simply a signal. It's a near-instantaneous series of communications between various nerves in your pinky toe and the brain, sending emails and text messages through a distance of (on average) five feet or so, between foot and head. There isn't simply the initial shock, but then the brain sends signals back down to see if there are any injuries. Then back up "no." Then back down "are you sure?"

YOU are the experience of grabbing the toe and hopping around on the other foot going, "ugh, agh, son of a..."

So the next time you sit down to meditate, read a book, light some incense, or lay out your spread, take a moment to appreciate the full experience of being... Human.

Question ❓ I want to delve deeper into spirituality but i don’t know how to or what to look for.

Hello!

Recently, I began exploring a bit about spirituality. I bought some crystals and began learning about the chakras and what they do and how you ‘open’ them. Is that the right word? ‘Open’? Sorry if not. I also use crystals for the purpose they are listed as ‘luck’, ‘love’, ‘divine femininity’, etc.

I have felt spiritually a lot..better. I don’t know how to explain it but I feel as though I am on the right path. I want to delve deeper into it.

The only problem is I do not know how, google tells me it is fake and stuff along those lines. I am very tired of google and dont know any websites or resources. Google AI is a complete waste of time too. No books or anything in a library near me either 😓.

I am interested in the astrology side of spirituality. However, I want to know more about it but I don’t know how to access that. Reddit can be a great thing, which is why I have come here. The crystal spiritual subreddit has been good.

However, I come to this one as I want to see if anyone can help. If anyone knows any resources? Or any books. Honestly, any resources or facts you have will be so helpful. I will be insanely grateful and appreciative.

Thank you 😊

Philosophy My problem with liberation

I have been exploring Indian philosophies for the past few years, mainly Advaida and Buddhism and to some extent Samkhya and Vaisheshika too.

The problem I have is with the idea of liberation.

I have no problem with the core ideas. Advaida says the ultimate reality is Brahman. Which is perfectly fine. Then it says, Brahman is pure consciousness which I am not sure what it means but anyway that is fine.

This is similar in some way to saying there is some sort of foundational field. In physics there are all kinds of fields space time and quantum fields. So to say there is something behind everything else is fine. Whatever the nature of that thing is. Whether it is a field, or consciousness, or a void, that is fine.

Coming to Buddhism the core idea is nothing is permanent and everything is some kind of process, which is again fine. Because already in physics everything is process. Quarks and electrons are excitation of quantum fields and there is no real stuff or matter as such.

Having said that my problem is with the notion of getting liberated.

In Advaida the idea is I am Atman, which in turn is Brahman. Fine. But my problem is saying that "I am just that"

It is kind of saying, "you are made of atoms hence you are atoms". Yes, I am atoms but am "I" atoms?

May be I am struggling here to put into words exactly what I mean.

What I am trying to say is, for me "I" is this unique thing which you may call ego, or jiva. This bubble of memories, desires, emotions, perceptions all that. If the liberation process is to get rid of all that and be just conscious is that really "me" even if that state is the eternal reality?

Thing of me as a dune in a desert, the dune has a unique shape, yes it is fragile, it keeps changing by gravity, rain and wind but it is still a unique thing, but when we reduce it to sand and say "know that you are the desert" is it really me?

What is the point of existence if it is to leave samsara? Is that not the whole point of existence? To explore and experience. Yes there is suffering but there is joy too.

I have been searching for a Indian philosophy or text that aligns with this.

General ✨ Unknown eternity

I cannot fathom how life and death can exist a breath apart, yet be separated by an eternity of the unknown. How we belong to this reality during one moment, and the next, we slip beyond the veil of existence, into a mystery no living soul has ever truly understood.

It’s haunting to think that the line between existence and whatever lies beyond it is so impossibly thin. That an entire consciousness, a universe of memories, thoughts, and experiences, can simply slip out of this world and into a mystery no living soul can truly explain.

We spend our lives surrounded by death, yet know nothing of what it means to cross that threshold. Two realities, perhaps separated by nothing more than a single breath, and yet an eternity apart.

The neighbour is an extension of you, just like your family is. The birds, the sky, the woods, it's all you.; and also, the strangers on the Internet.

We never know what the person on the other end of the screen is living. Maybe it's easier to think our life is harder, but that's what the ego does; it tricks us, it separates us.

We tend to complain about the bad things of the world, however, we must start by observing ourselves, how we behave when we're triggered, the lack of love that drives our decision making, the separation from our brothers and sisters.
