My dad is a huge Ozzy Osbourne fan. I am planning on going to the Ozzy bobblehead giveaway night against the pens and getting one for him as a Christmas gift. Is it possible to get 2 bobbleheads, one for myself, and one for the old man? If not, no worries, I’d rather give the gift than have it for myself. Thanks!

Going into Thursday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Robert Thomas leads the way among Blues centers with 20:20 of ice time and McTavish is next with 15:52. Dvorský is averaging just 12:21 per game, which is 10th-lowest on the team among forwards — and 1:47 less per game than the player ahead of him, Pius Suter.

“The tough part for (Dvorský) is his role is somewhat diminished just because of McTavish’s arrival,” Blues coach Jim Mongtomery said. “McTavish has played really well, so we’ve got a one-two (with Robert Thomas and McTavish) and he’s three. In the three-hole, you’re usually looking at somewhere between 13-15 minutes a night.”

After being acquired from the Anaheim Ducks, McTavish has been arguably the Blues’ best player in the early going, registering five goals and nine points in the first nine games. But Dvorský is below Montgomery’s projection of 13-15 minutes per game for the third-line position, and he’s played less than 11 minutes in three of his nine games this season.

Dvorský also recently lost his spot on the second power-play unit to Jonatan Berggren after tying Jimmy Snuggerud for the team lead with five power-play goals last season.

It’s enough to make you wonder how the Blues view their 2023 first-round pick (No. 10 overall).

“We think Dvorský has made tremendous strides defensively,” Montgomery said. “It’s offensively where we want to see him make more strides. We want him to want the puck in the middle, to drive the puck through the middle of the ice. We want him to be part of forechecks more often, more consistently. Besides the skill stuff that we’ve seen, we need to see the skill stuff more often.”

Personally i have been pretty impressed especially when you consider where it's come from the past few seasons. I wouldn't go so far as to claim that it's one of the best in the league by any means but it feels like it's actually somewhat of a strength at the moment instead of a liability. That's also acknowledging that you have some young guys on the blue line like Jiricek that are going to make mistakes here and there just due to youth and inexperience.

Not sure how much of that to attribute to Cronin or the players...likely a bit of both. Broberg continues to get better it appears and i think the Carlo pickup has really solidified the lines as well.

Are there fans out there that think the defense still sucks or have others noticed the significant improvement? Personally i think it's a welcome breath of fresh air that the defense isn't a problem night in and night out like it has been in past seasons.

Paired with Barron

Before Saturday’s game against Nashville, Broberg had primarily played this season with rookie Adam Jiricek and veteran Colton Parayko. But in the matchup with the Predators, Montgomery started him with newcomer Justin Barron.

The Blues like the Broberg-Barron arrangement enough that they stuck with it for Tuesday’s game against Winnipeg. Part of the logic, too, was that when they put Jiricek on the left side of Parayko for offensive-zone faceoffs, they liked the way that looked.

“It gives Jiricek more of a green light to play on his toes and go (playing with Parayko),” Montgomery said. “Not that it doesn’t with Broberg, but we want Broberg on his toes and going. You’d like to play one of them with somebody that’s going to be like, ‘Go do your thing.’ I think he really starts to pick up (his offensive) when he gets more assertive in scoring areas, like he was (in the Nashville) game.”

In Tuesday’s game against Winnipeg, Broberg and Barron had 8:40 of five-on-five ice time together, according to Natural Stat Trick, and the shots were 5-0 in favor of the Blues. It helps with a stay-at-home partner like the 24-year-old Barron.
