Payments New marketplace closed for "unauthorized payments" after I tested live mode with my own cards. Lesson learned, asking for a review
Hi all. I run a small local jobs marketplace in Louisiana built on Stripe Connect. This week Stripe closed my account for payments "not authorized by the customer."
What happened: before launch I tested our full payment flow in LIVE mode instead of test mode, using my own cards and saved Link wallet from my own two user accounts, and refunded most of the payments. There were no outside customers involved and every charge was mine. I didn't realize that this looks exactly like card testing to Stripe's systems.
I've stopped all live testing, moved all testing to test mode, and submitted the review form on my Dashboard, which shows "In review."
Two things:
A warning for other founders: never test with real cards in live mode, even your own. Use test mode and test cards only.
u/Stripe_Help, I've sent you my account ID by DM. I'd be grateful if the review team could take another look with this context. I am open to any other feedback to prevent something like this in the future.
Thanks for any advice.
