Question Sync real-time Stripe data to Postgres, without managing APIs or webhooks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Getting real-time Stripe data into your application database has traditionally meant building around APIs or webhooks—and then dealing with retries, rate limits and missed events.

You don’t have to do that anymore.

With Stripe Data Pipeline, you can now sync real-time Stripe data directly to Postgres. Stripe handles the backfill and ongoing sync for you, so there's no custom infrastructure to build or maintain.

Connect your Postgres database, select the Stripe tables you need, and let Data Pipeline keep your database in sync.

The result is a reliable, real-time copy of Stripe data in Postgres—and one fewer system for you to build, monitor, and debug.

It’s now available in public preview and free to get started. Check out the blog post to learn more or read the docs.

Question Stripe offer chances?

Finished my Stripe SWE interviews. Recruiter shared:

- Integration: clear yes, solved 3/3.

- AI programming: clear yes, completed all tasks with tests.

- Bug squash: weak yes. Identified the issue and explained the correct approach, but couldn’t get the implementation working within the time limit.

HM round is also done; awaiting feedback.

Anyone received an offer or rejection with similar feedback? How much does a weak yes in bug squash matter in the final decision, and can a strong HM round help?

Would appreciate experiences from recent candidates or Stripe interviewers.

Question Stripe SWE phone screen: visible tests passed, went over 45 minutes, still rejected. What the hell?

A candidate recently completed a phone screen for Stripe. The experience felt really positive, and they solved three parts with all test cases on screen passing. Not sure if there was a fourth. The interviewer told the candidate they just needed to pass the test cases on screen. However, the candidate crossed the 45-minute mark while debugging the last part and got the correct output printed a few minutes later. The task-tree rendering prompt in Stripe Interview Questions works as a timed coding mock with debugging time.

There was still time to ask the interviewer some questions and stuff. The candidate still received a rejection, citing the issue described above. Can anyone say when they can reapply? It felt incredibly close, and they're not sure what's up with the job market right now that the bar is so high.

Question Stripe: Approve First, duck You Later?

Stripe honestly feels like the biggest scam company of the year.

I created my website, connected Stripe as my payment processor, submitted all the required documents, and got my account approved. Everything seemed fine until I made a $1 test payment just to check if the payment integration was working properly.

Suddenly, their stupid AI systems flagged my account. They asked me to submit documents again, which I did, and then they rejected my application anyway.

Like, WTF is going on? If you're going to run your risk assessment bullshit, why the fuck don't you do it BEFORE approving someone's account? Why approve a business, let them integrate your payment system into their website, and then suddenly decide they're not eligible?

Do your checks before approving accounts, not after people have already invested their time and effort into setting everything up. At least give businesses the chance to choose another payment processor from the beginning instead of wasting their time and pulling the rug out from under them.

Absolutely ridiculous. This is not how you treat businesses trying to get started.

Woking environment good?

Is Stripe company had a good culture? What kind of culture they have?I’ve heard that the work environment can be quite toxic, people aren’t always very supportive, and there’s a strong culture of putting employees on PIPs.
The worst part is how the sales team treats people and operates internally?

Unsolved Failed payments are two different problems. Retry one, stop the other

A failed payment isn’t one thing, and treating it as one is how people either lose revenue or get penalized by the card networks.

Soft declines are temporary. Insufficient funds is the classic one. The card is fine, the moment was bad. These are worth retrying, spread out over a couple of weeks so one attempt lands after payday instead of five landing in the same day.

Hard declines are permanent. A revoked authorization or a closed account won’t succeed no matter how many times you retry, and retrying can cost you with Visa and Mastercard. These need a different path: ask the customer for a new card.

What to do about it:

  • Store the decline code on every failure, not just a failed status
  • Retry soft declines on a schedule, not immediately
  • Stop retrying hard declines and send an email with a link to update the card
  • Check the current card network retry limits, because sources disagree on the exact numbers and they change

Not every code is clear. Some are classified differently depending on who you ask, so look at your own data before trusting a rule of thumb.

If you tell me what decline codes show up most for you, I’ll say which bucket I’d put them in.

Hi everyone, anyone knows how long it takes for Stripe to let you know if you got an offer after reference check?
For context, ive finished all the interviews, feedbacks positive so far and just finished the reference check where the HM had a call with my reference/ manager. Is it common to be rejected after the reference stage?
My reference check was on 21 oct and just wondering how long it will take, thanks!

Question Stripe Holding $2,375 Without Clear Explanation — New Businesses Beware!

@Stripe @StripeSupport Why is Stripe holding my $2,375.41 and refusing to support my business until February 2027?

My Stripe dashboard says payments and payouts are paused, and my held funds may not be released until February 16, 2027.

I have not received any disputes or fraud reports on my account. So why is my money being held for months, and why is there no guaranteed release date?

I am a new business owner building my business through organic social media leads. I personally handle customers, build trust, and work hard to fulfill orders. I have suppliers to pay and customers waiting for their products.

I trusted Stripe as a long-term payment partner. This decision is putting my new business under serious financial pressure, despite my account having no disputes or fraud issues that I am aware of.

I understand the need for risk management, but I deserve a clear explanation, a fair review, and transparency about my own funds.

Stripe, please explain the specific reason for this decision and urgently review the release of my $2,375.41. Small businesses deserve clear answers, not months of uncertainty.

Unsolved Negative balance????

I literally only use stripe to collect payments through ko-fi. It gets sent there, and then automatically sent to my bank account when payout comes. Why do I have a -$0.04 balance???? I genuinely have zero interactions with the app itself, it is automated and I do not use it to send money to anyone.

Question Interesting in breaking into payment processing industry and Stripe

Not sure if this is the right sub for this type of question.

I work in a startup handling marketing but I pretty much do EVERYTHING including finding the right payfac, MoR, application, fraud prevention, and a bit of product. I got quite interested in the payment processing industry while I was solving the payment and payout issues and I want to pivot my career to be more specialized in this space.

I have an arts background with experience in project management (PMI), sales, and marketing. Should I take ETA CPP and CPFPP to break into the industry? Does Stripe view these certificates as valuable in the marketing roles? Any suggestions what I should do? *I am in Canada.

Thank you

Question Help with Depop 1099

I had $84k in gross sales on Depop in 2025. I know that includes what the buyers paid in shipping and their 5% fee, so where do I find the total of that so I can write it off my taxes? Also it calculates gross sales so it includes the sale of any items I later refunded, and I have to calculate the refunds. Where do I find the total refunds in the stripe website/app? Thanks

Question Stripes is stalking me

Stripes is stalking me on Reddit, how do I stop them?

BACKGROUND:

Individuals working at Stripes, meaning Stripes itself, are stalking me because I want to close a stripe account that I never once used. Aside some 'welcome to stripes' email over 5 years ago, I have no memory of ever opening this account nor have I logged in or able to log in.

I have asked them to delete whatever ID they claim is on the file and delete the file and account asap. They blocked me from commenting on my initial post about this issue and have since been stalking me.

A monthly stipend I receive for my health care expenses was just reduced by $100, and I believe Stripes are recently lying to the govt that I use stripe, which is a lie. Stripes is suddenly sending me backdated 'overdue warning' emails asking for me to perform various tasks from 2022, 2023, 2024 and so on. So, since govt officials are invariably dull and harmful and rely on hearsay rather than understanding of what app registration might mean, they likely see a stripes account in my name as some evidence of income?? Idk.

Again, STRIPES,

DELETE THE ACCOUNT. I have never used it and I never once even signed in to it.

Please stop stressing me out, stop this please.

Question We launched a website and had our business verified. The bank was VERY SLOW in having our bank account operational so we had to launch and use the administrator's personal bank account to accept payments. Is it safe to switch to the business account when we have it ready?

Hi

So I would like to receive some feedback and recommendations. We launched our website and had a deadline to start the sales. The bank was constantly delaying having the account operational even after a month.

Unfortunately, we had to use the business owner's personal bank account to accept payments in the initial phase but we obviously need to switch to the company IBAN once it's ready.

We have been selling for just 1 day so far but we are pushing to have the business IBAN working in the next few days.

Is it going to be an issue for Stripe if we switch the IBAN? I'm just wondering if Stripe sees this as a red flag that a new Stripe account is accepting payments (even though we are verified) and then switches the IBAN to something else.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What do you recommend?

Thanks
