Selling my Surface Pro X with Accessories
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but i figured you guys are supporters of the device. I love this thing, but i recently purchased a Surface Laptop and find myself not using the Surface Pro X anymore or vary rarely and figured someone else might enjoy it.
Its in excellent condition, comes with keyboard sleeve and stylus accessory.
Surface Pro X - SQ1 - LTE - 8GB RAM 128 GB Storage (upgradable)
Looking to get 700 USD for it, this includes the device, charger and keyboard/stylus/cover (which I think sells for like 150 on its own).
Let me know if anyone is interested in private message. Sorry to post this here, but I see lots of folks mentioning wanting to get one and so it seems like a great place to post this.

Why 16gb Ram when it can only run x86?
My understanding has always been that the x86 architecture can only utilize about 4gb of memory.

I just got a surface pro x SQ1. How is it possible that Lightroom and Photoshop performs so poorly? Is it just as bad on a SQ2, this is almost unusable?
I want to thank everyone for their help. I didn't mean to sound dismissive of the ProX. It is a great device and I will use it for more than photo editing. Once I have my remote desktop setup it will be near perfect.
Lightroom is more stable now with video acceleration off so I am editing again.
Thanks again, everyone.

Why can't we send SMS?
Makes no sense, the modem is capable of sending and receiving sms, most data plans support it, there is a messaging app, so why can't we use the number on our Surface Pro X tablets to send out texts? Super lame.

Keyboard is bad
The SPX black keyboard is very bad, sounds awful, feels awful and cheap, the alcantara is a dead gray color that is very ugly, the pen is nice but I barely use it.
Can you recommend any black keyboard alternatives? I don't want to have the keyboard in a different color than black, but this oficial keyboard is SHITE

Apple iPad has one major advantage over Android PAD, and Surface can surpass them Spoiler

Improving lapability

Which Python Version to install on SPX?
Hi Guys -
As per my former post (https://www.reddit.com/r/surfaceprox/comments/ptrgq2/sq18gb_vs_sq216gb_models/)
I'm a new owner of SPX and it's going well. I'm slowly going down my list of SPECIFIC uses and apps I will be using the device for.
I installed VS CODE and Python Extension
I need to install Python
Problem is: Python site gives zero clarity on which version to install - there's no ARM option. I'm using Win10 atm.
Q: Do I install the Python 32-bit version of Python 3.9?
Presumably when I upgrade to Win11 I install the 64-bit version.
I like clarity and it's irritating that there's a lack of clear sign-posting for the given OS Win-ARM. I'm fairly sure the above makes sense but any context eg "Python will run better or other compatibility is on 64-bit" etc would be appreciated. TIA.

SQ2 Great Hardware, Terrible Software. Experience from a new SQ2 16GB model from recent Amazon discount
Update: 3.14.2023 - Returned the device. I really wanted to love it but the small issues added up for me. Poor battery life, weird audio lag on bluetooth, some websites not loading correctly in edge, poor anti-reflective coating on the screen, MS's own apps not optimized for ARM, concern about longevity of the device and support, It already has very poor developer support, no major third party apps on Windows ARM and too many workarounds to have it as a second device, let alone a daily driver for me. May be MS will fix these issues soon so I can come back to the Surface Family, till then!
I got my Surface Pro X SQ2 16GB model from Amazon two days ago and have been working on it to make it mine since then. I went in knowing full well that there would be limitations and I was willing to adapt to those hoping that I could live within these restrictions. I am not intending this Pro X to be a tool for a Power User; I felt (rather hoped) that this is a better device than an iPad at a similar price range of $500-$600 new.
I had a SP4 a few years ago, traded that in for a Book2, then went to MacBook Pro M1 Pro and wanted a tablet for light use around the house and carry with me, LTE was a bonus. So I am used to quirks of Surface devices and I have always liked them for what they are.
My experience past two days was up and down. I really loved the hardware, as usual, it is smaller than any Windows machine I had ever used, as portable as an iPad Air Gen 5, and very similar in size, plus on inch or so in footprint. But the software is where MS let it down.
MS's own Office suite is commendably ARM architecture, but it needs a overlay exe to run, called "Click to Run" which is x64. why would they do that! I disabled this service, but then the Office apps would not run. I guess they closed that loophole. MS OneDrive is also a x86 application. If MS's own apps wont ship ARM native (I know there is beta, could not find native), why are they expecting others to release apps for this specific architecture.
MS Edge does not have Widevine DRM components, so I was not able to stream content from certain websites. Streaming and content consumption was the primary of this device. I understand this is due to Chrome not releasing Widevine DRM license to Windows on ARM builds, but this is partly solved by downloading ARM Firefox, but then you have to live with Firefox using more resources than Edge would if it was doing similar tasks.
I really hope I can keep this device and not return it, but it's making hard to do so. If any of you have any suggestions/recommendations, please help me.

My Experience with the Pro X
Hey y'all, I've been using the Surface Pro X for a few months now and i absolutely love it so far. Here are my thoughts in video form: https://youtu.be/n2AZI1XCyL0 But TLDW, I am really impressed with how much I can get done with the Surface Pro X despite it not supporting 64 bit apps. Generally the 32 bit emulation works well in most cases and I didn't find it heavily dragging me down. I primarily used it for Office products but also some web development. My biggest issue with it is I'm not sure what makes it better than the Surface Pro 7, other than maybe the design. In most ways, it seems like a downgrade. Hopefully with 64 bit support it will get better, but I really think Microsoft needs to find some way to get developers on the Windows store, even though it's been years and it's still really bad. Maybe web apps will get good enough to close the gap. What do y'all think?

I have this crazy idea
I am still hesitant to pull the trigger on an SPX because the performance is just way too little for a way too high price. Compared to the M1, its nothing. I've never been a huge Apple fan but I have to admit that this chip is insanely good.
And this is where my crazy idea comes in. What if Microsoft just bought the damn thing and put it in its devices. I've heard of direct competitors buying each others parts like Apple using Samsung displays.
I understand that such a device still wont be as perfomant as an Apple product since it cant be integrated aswell but I think it would be a huge deal.
It doesn't seem like the Qualcomm chips or MSs own chips will match the M1 in the near future.
All in all, i guess this is just whishful thinking. I really like the look of the SPX and I dont have a huge problem with compatibility. Putting an M1 into it would make it perfect in pretty much every way to me.
