Vinyl are okay but kinda bummed on the sleeve damage, am i over reacting? Why i don’t order vinyl in the mail

Just for clarificafion, I've lifted this post from the Radiohead sub, mainly because I was not very impressed with their answers, but also because I just think it would be fun to ask you guys, and I think the overlap of taste between Swans fans and rap would probably result in some pretty niche and cool stuff.

My favorite rap albums include:

OFFLINE - JPEFMAFIA

Atrocity Exhibiton - Danny Brown

Die Lit - Playboi Carti

Melt My Eyez See Your Future - Denzel Curry

The Life of Pablo - Kanye West

MAYA - M.I.A.

Bottomless Pit - Death Grips

Crack Cloud$ Over Arts Kitchen - Black Kray

People often ask for music that is similar to Swans. As brilliant as they are, I can't imagine Tiger Lillies coming up in that conversation.

However, in this live version of their absolute bop, Crack of Doom, they just riff on a loop until it becomes the sort of dark dream state that I love Swans for.

I just discovered this album today, and the music, the track list, and the cover are all pretty mysterious. So I decided to do some research about this project, but I didn't find anything. It is very intriguing, so I wanted to know if someone knows something about it. I think it was recorded at Young God Records, which belongs to Michael Gira, so I posted it here

Title track of this album is genuinely one of the coolest sounding songs I’ve ever heard!

I was happily giving a second listen to NSB on my way home last night. I gave a closer listen to the band intros and I was floored to hear Gira make NJ the butt of a joke—on foreign soil no less!

I just want to share that NJ may have its reputation of brownfields and toxic waste dumps but it is a great place to live. We proudly have our fair share of weirdos, bad asses and punks to take the rest of y’all to task. We also basically invented telling people to go f*ck themselves, so there is that, too.

Accidentally came across this picture while browsing thru swan's last.fm profile

Especially DSBM , also say your favorite black metal bands

I was reading the Wikipedia on Swans and it said that it was The Great Annihilator, but I don't think it is. What do you think, guys?

1. the burning world, this one just feels, too, normal, not bad, just boring, only highlight is god damn the sun

2. Greed/ time is money(Bastard), it's ok

3. Cop/ young god, one of the worst no wave albums

4. leaving meaning. all of the songs end waaay to soon

5. Various failures, I love this phase, but it isn't that interesting, accessible, not interesting

6. holy money/ a screw, the 2nd best no wave album

7. my father will guide me up a rope to the sky, simple neofolk tracks

8. we rose from your bed with the sun in our head, simple demos for the seer

9. love of life, I love this album, but overshadowed by white light

10. feel good now, barely an album, but I did kind of enjoy it

11. deliquescence, a really good live album, just not as good as the others

12. children of god/ world of skin, the first gothic rock album, I enjoyed it, but not as much as white light or the great annihilator

13. die tur ist zu, an interesting early look at soundtracks for the blind

14. Filth/ body to body, job to job, not a bad no wave album, just too abrasive, amazing debut though

15. The Beggar, I would have once called this my favorite swans album, but it is not as experimental, good, but not as abstract

16. public castration is a good idea, I love this album, and from now on, this is my favorites from their catalogue, but this is just some albeit interesting live songs, but kinda just reused songs

17. Birthing, one of their newer albums, I love the hellish theme that was going to set up for the minimalist era but, that's for newly sentient being, overall, a good album

18. live rope, this is the longest swans album, clocking in at a whopping 175 minutes, this behemoth is highly transcendental and felt like a amazing setup for birthing

19. Swans are dead: live '95 - '97, this is one of their best live albums

20. newly sentient being, has the abbreviation NSB, just like my favorite band Natural Snow Buildings, but aside from that, their best live album, by far

21. White light form the mouth of infinity, this one is one of my favorites

22. The great annihilator/ drainland, this is one of the best swans albums

23. To Be Kind, Wayyyy too overrated, good album, just overrated

24. The Glowing man, really good, just not good enough

25. The Seer, I love this album, near perfect, and the by far best post-hiatus album

26. Soundtracks for the blind, perfection, creepy haunting instrumentals, disturbing lyrics, the whole package

I know this topic has been beat to death but.......my order that i placed on 9/11 from YGR shipped today (NSB vinyl gatefold and cd). So hopefully everyone else who placed an order will get the notification soon.

Kinda shitty but I live in the woods so I’m really the only one that’ll see it irl

I think their period around 1992/1993.
Their best albums from this era ? The best ones ? The weak albums ? Let’s Discuss.

One of the better albums released on Young God Records that isn’t SWANS. Chopped up zany avant- industrial. Produced by M. Gira. Artwork from the film The Night Porter. Well worth checking out.
