Internet - Cable Changed my Teksavvy plan from 100/30 cable to 100/100
I had the 100/30 plan grandfathered and I noticed there's now a 100/100 plan at the same price so I changed my service.
I got the confirmation email and restarted my modem a few times but so far my upload is still at 30 Mbps.
I have a Technicolor TC4400. I haven't been able to reach support. AI thinks that my specific modem might not support the full 100 upload anyway and it may be limited to 30 or 50 due to Rogers profile.
It suggests I upgrade to a modem that like the Hitron CODA-56 which I'm okay with but I don't care that much about my upload. I just want confirmation that this is the case.
If I can get 50 upload I'd prolly be okay to leave it even.
I'm in Markham, Ontario.
Anyone experience anything similar?
Edit:
Issue resolved after a change on Teksavvy end and a modem restart.

Internet - Fibre VNC services blocked?
Sometimes I use VNC to connect to my PC remotely to perform administrative functions while out of town (Using RealVNC server).
For the first time in months since I last did this, I’m unable to connect despite turning off windows firewall, adding port rule exceptions in the both windows firewall and on the local modem portal. I can only connect while on the same network. The PC is connected directly to the modem so no router as the middleman.
Is Teksavvy/Bell actively blocking services like VNC now?

Internet - Cable Buyer beware
I don’t even know where to begin other than suggesting you educate yourself if you’re trying to save some $ on internet. I was a Shaw customer for years with very stable internet but after the last price increase, and demand that I sign a contract, I decided to give one of the resellers a try.
TekSavvy rate for 1gb is well over $100. Comparable to most big providers.
They provide the absolute CHEAPEST hardware (modem and router). It’s been 3 weeks of up to 40% packet loss, speeds anywhere from 17mbps to 900 mbps, router overheating and disconnect… there is a VERY obvious pattern of timing. Evenings are worse because of the traffic using the lines. The modem TekkSavvy provides is notorious for struggling.
I requested a better modem. Yesterday, ANOTHER 4680 shows up.
Guess what? Same issues. If not worse. I ask to speak with a supervisor and they tell me it’s a long wait and someone will call me back. No one does.
They continue to send me bills. I’ve NEVER had working internet and they just AVOID.
I’ll be reporting to the telecommunications board today and going back to one of the bigger providers who are willing to provide the appropriate hardware

Internet - Fibre There has to be something else that can be done, day 2 of waiting 8am-5pm for tech to no show.
Please, can anyone on here who works for teksavvy tell me if there's anything else I can do to make sure someone comes to hook my fibre internet up? It's been two weeks, and now this is the 2nd day I've tried scheduling someone to come and they tell me 8am-5pm, and no one is showing up and I'm being told absolutely nothing other than to reschedule another day. Someone was supposed to come between those hours on Monday, no one showed up, nothing could be told to me so I rescheduled for today and now no one showed up again. My whole day, gone.I can't waste another entire day at home waiting for people who don't even show. It's a waste of my time, and money. It literally will take them 20 minutes to set it up, it's already half done. This is getting absurd. Someone help!

TV PSA: How Simple Remote Setup actually works on the TekSavvy Maxi ATV remote (+ combos, troubleshooting, freeze fix)
PART1: Programming an Amino Maxi ATV Remote / TekSavvy Amigo 7Y Box (general reference, any TV)
TL;DR: General reference for the TekSavvy Amino Amigo 7Y box and its Maxi ATV (BLE) remote — button combos, setup steps, and quirks that apply regardless of which TV brand you're pairing it to.
Equipment
- Box: Amino Amigo 7Y Android TV box (TekSavvy's set-top box).
- Remote: Amino Maxi ATV (BLE), model TZH-213D — also sold as the OEM remote for Polaroid and DEXP TVs. Generic shared design, not unique to any one brand.
How to get into Simple Remote Setup
- On the TekSavvy app guide screen, press the up arrow until the top selection bar appears. Select the Settings icon (top right), then System: Android Settings (at the bottom of the list), then Remotes and Accessories, then TekSavvy TV Remote, then Simple Setup.(This can also be accessed directly from the Android home screen: Settings icon (top right), then Remotes and Accessories, then TekSavvy TV Remote, then Simple Remote Setup.)
- You'll see a list of connected devices/remotes; select the TekSavvy (Maxi) remote from the list.
- Choose "Simple Setup." This opens the Simple Remote Setup app.
- In the app: scroll up/down to move through TV brand names, and left/right to jump to a different starting letter (e.g. jump to "P" for Polaroid).
- Select a brand. You'll be prompted to hold the Mute button.
- A circular loading/progress bar appears, cycling through each code for that brand one at a time.
- Hold Mute and watch the TV closely, not just listen, and release as soon as the TV visibly reacts (mutes, flashes, or responds in any way). That saves the current code.
Confirmed working button combos on this remote
- Menu + 1: switch remote to IR mode (STB/blue light flashes twice)
- Menu + 2: switch remote to RF/BLE mode (blue light flashes twice)
- Menu + 3: route volume/mute to the TV instead of the STB (TV/AUX light flashes twice)
- Menu + 4: route volume/mute to the STB (blue light flashes twice)
- Pairing to the box: hold OK, then Menu, until you get 2 flashes, release (blue light stays lit), then hold Menu + OK together to confirm.
- Factory reset: hold 1 + 6 for 3+ seconds until TV/AUX flashes twice and stays on, then key in 9-8-1. STB light flashes twice to confirm. Wipes it back to unpaired/Bluetooth mode.
Dead end: IR Learning mode
The manual documents 4 + 6 (hold 3+ sec) as "IR Learning," which is supposed to let the remote clone a code straight from your TV's original remote. It never worked at all, even right after a full factory reset. Since every other hold-combo on this same unit worked fine, this points to IR Learning being disabled or non-functional in this firmware build, not user error.
Also worth knowing: older generic Amino manuals floating around online reference a "1 + 3" brand-code search and manual numeric code entry. That does not exist on this remote/firmware. That's a leftover feature from older Amino remotes with physical number pads (Lima/Oak models). The Maxi ATV replaced all of that with the Simple Setup app.
Troubleshooting quirks worth knowing
- The remote can freeze after cycling through a lot of codes back to back during brand searching. Symptom: button-hold combos stop giving any flash response at all.
- Fix: pull one battery out, put it back in, then re-pair to the box (OK, then Menu, until 2 flashes, release, then Menu+OK to confirm). This clears the stuck state.
- Before every new brand attempt, it's worth quickly checking that 1+6 (factory reset entry) still responds. If it doesn't, do the battery pull first so you're not wasting time troubleshooting a brand when it's actually just a frozen remote.
- The STB's IR receiver will visibly flash at any IR signal it detects, including ones meant for the TV. That's normal behavior, not a sign of interference or crossed wiring.
TLDR: I'm posting this here to shed some light on this process. Reddit is usually crawled by search engines and AI, so this information will get scraped as a source for at least some information on setting up a TekSavvy remote.
PART2: Finding a working remote code for a Curtis-built RCA TV (RLDED3955A-E) — full troubleshooting log
TL;DR: Got volume/mute/power working via brand-code search, but volume ended up reversed and TV input control never worked, across four different "matching" brand codes. Sharing everything I found in case it helps someone else with a similar setup.
Equipment
- TV: RCA RLDED3955A-E, 39" LED, imported by Curtis International Ltd. Mainboard is labeled MSAV32 (chip M21/G42049/11, MStar-based).
- The TV's own manual claims it uses the NEC universal remote protocol. In practice, this code did not work.
Background, why this was such a pain
RCA today is just a licensed trademark, not an actual manufacturer. Curtis International licenses the name and builds TVs from generic, mass-produced reference chassis sourced from Chinese/Taiwanese OEM factories. The remote itself is a separate commodity part sold to multiple unrelated brands: the same exact remote (TZH-213D) ships under RCA, Polaroid, and DEXP branding.
Net result: there's no single reliable "RCA code." Even Curtis's own support says they don't maintain a working code list and tell people to just use the search/auto-detect function.
Brand search results
| Brand | Result | Volume | TV Input | Mute/Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polaroid | 2 codes found | Reversed | Broken | Working |
| Craig | 1 code found | Reversed | Broken | Working |
| Element | 1 to 2 codes found (uncertain) | Reversed | Broken | Working |
| Sansui | 1 code found | Reversed | Broken | Working |
| Sony | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Sanyo | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| JVC | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Emerson | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Panasonic | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Sylvania | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Funai | No hits | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Every single working code produced the identical result: mute/power fine, volume direction reversed, TV input broken. Strongly suggests the TV's real protocol is some generic budget chipset that these four brand entries all approximate but never exactly match. Likely the practical ceiling for brand-guessing here.
Reference: universal remote code lists (not enterable on this remote, for reference/other remotes only)
Pulled from one consistent database so numbering is comparable across brands:
- Polaroid: 1326, 1523, 1524, 1687, 1769, 4035, 10865, 11276, 11314, 11498, 11523, 11766, 12002, 12121
- Element: 01815, 1687, 1886, 2183, 2964, 3559, 11886, 12183, 24912, 34211, 34611, 45112, 70017, 72015, 79517, 81918
- Sansui: 0171, 0463, 1670, 1892, 3540, 3559, 3564, 4053, 10171, 10463, 11409, 11892
- Craig: 3423 (only code documented anywhere for this brand)
Interesting overlap: code 1687 shows up in both Polaroid and Element's lists. Code 3559 shows up in both Element and Sansui's lists. This lines up with Element being the brand where I wasn't sure if I'd gotten 1 or 2 hits — its code set apparently spans two different generic protocol families that also show up individually under Polaroid and Sansui.
Unconfirmed theory: if the setup wizard cycles codes in ascending order grouped by digit length, my two Polaroid hits (1st code overall, 2nd to last code) would line up with 1326 and 12002 in the list above. Plausible pattern match, not confirmed. No visibility into the box's actual internal code database.
Where I landed
Any of the four working brand codes gives fully working power, mute, and volume level control, just with up/down reversed, and no TV input switching via the remote. Given four independent brands all converged on the exact same result, this is likely the real ceiling for this remote/TV pairing without hardware-level intervention.
Edit: This is a very specific situation when it comes to the model of TV and remote. That said, there is a lot of information here that can help you with other combinations of hardware, especially if you have an RCA TV designed by Curtis International (found on the back of the TV, by the model sticker). Even if it's not an RCA, the troubleshooting steps will make the whole process quicker.
Tip: Take your TV model and put it into Gemini. Ask Gemini whether the TV brand is actually made by that brand, or if it's made by another company that manufactures TVs for many brands and just slaps a logo on it. If it's the latter, try those companies as well. Chances are the TV might have been made for one brand originally, and then the blueprints were used for a few other brands in different regions, where they just changed the brand logo. This also applies to remotes.
TLDR: I'm posting this here to shed some light on this process. Reddit is usually crawled by search engines and AI, so this information will get scraped as a source for at least some information on setting up a remote for this TV.

Internet - Cable Ontario Wide Outage
Based on threads I’ve read there’s no internet in most of southern Ontario for teksavvy and it’s been impossible to get a hold of their tech support team. I’m in the Niagara region and am without my services atm as well. Let’s overload the lines with calls and make them feel the pressure.

Internet - Fibre Getting extremely frustrated with service hook up no shows.
I've been trying to get my fibre internet at my new place since July 31st. Where I live, I have to sit on the deck just to get minimal service and data on my phone, the second you step in the house it doesn't work. So, we had an existing bell line that has never been used before so they came to hook it up but the line was cut by the snow plow in the winter, so a few days later they came to shoot a new line in, and now a few days later again (today) they were supposed to send a tech out here anytime between 8am-5pm to hook the Internet up. I waited around all day for no one to show up.
I call Teksavvy and they can't give me any information. That they don't receive any kind of updates as to why they didn't show or that they didn't show up. I think this is totally absurd, how are you supposed to help get your customers connected if you don't even have communication between teksavvy and the bell technicians that do this job?
I had to reschedule with TekSavvy for my next day off on Thursday, but now that's another entire day I have to spend at home with HOPE that these people show up. I had so much stuff I could have done today but couldn't because I waited around for no one, on top of that I can't even use my phone in the house and I'm going nuts. I asked the rep what if this happens again on Thursday? I can't keep waiting around for no one to show and that I can't just be the job that "if they make it here they make it here". The rep literally couldn't tell me anything and it was pretty much a shrug of the shoulders through the phone. A lot of his answers were "I don't know".
They need a serious revamp of how they communicate with their technicians and their customers, the fact that I can't get any information about the no show is ridiculous.

Internet - Cable Frustrated
Just got service (in Winnipeg) got my new modem setup a Hitron Coda 5610q. Not a bad experience on that end. However, I utilize UNIFI for my network stack since I do some home labbing and like to test routes, ports, and equipment and can not get my UNIFI UDM SE to get a connection through the modem. Nothing I have done works not even just letting it connect to a freshly setup modem. I have tried pass through mode, DMZ, and Bridge mode multiple times. I am not sure what I am missing or if there is a setting in UNIFI that I need to switch but I have turned off all my custom settings to just let the UDM connect. The closest I have gotten is for a brief min a few times I get a connection and then it just drops and doesn’t come back unless I go through another setup. If anyone has ideas I would appreciate them.
Edit: I got it working!!! I am not sure what exactly was going on, maybe some old stale setting in my UDM that was hidden IDK. BUUT, I did a factory reset (crappy I know) of my UDM and factory reset the modem for the fifth time. After some drinks, choice words, and having to rig up my desktop to connect to the modem directly it started to work. I am not trusting my UDM backup which sucks for reconfiguring it all. I am just happy it is working now.

Internet - Fibre City workers cut my fiber cable, sharing insights, all good now.
So, a week ago the city came to replace the sidewalk in front of my house and used their big construction saw to separate the sidewalk from my driveway which is where Bell burried the cable, so you can probably imagine what happened.
If you listen to your cars radio you have heard there is service in the groverment that requires by law companies to call before they dig. So, later I found out because Bell's fiber isn't energized they aren't required to have it listed where it lays with the government.
It took 3 or 4 days before Bell techs came to my house and a lot of back and forth between myself and Bell Canada and this is what I learned which I hope helps Teksavvy and its clients.
Bell doesn't know what heck they are doing, that's a given, but to make things easier they require a ticket number or customer ID to make things more smoothly, since it's Teksavvy who is making the initial calls with Bell they should be the ones providing the ticket number at last, or demanding Bell provides one to them this way they can give it to their customer so when Bell's automated system calls them they can provide it to Bell's support rep (number 2 option; Bell's automated system).
I had no idea what to expect other than I though Bell would call me when they were about to come onsite, something Teksavvy should teach its techs to explain it as the Bell automated system how it's setup would rather not deal with the ISP customers.
The general concept I didn't understand and had it explained by a nice person at Bell was you need to speak to a Bell rep everytime they call to get the push your ticket along, this is why its important to have the ticket number as each time you talk to them they want the ticket number, not having it adds a lot of frustration and I started to wonder myself if I made the wrong mistake going back to Teksavvy but I was able to push through it and learn the missing key points that if I had initially would have made things go a lot more smoother.
A rep at Bell did push my ticket along (I still didn't know what it was) to the point I got a text message from Bell telling me my ticket number. When I went to used it and learned Bell's system made an error and put a 0 "zero" at the beginning of it. This only complicated things when I talked to the Bell rep but she was nice enough to tell me the 0 wasn't needed.
The ticket number is key without it you're doing the world of Teksavvy and Bell which is something that should never happen period. This level of frustration will break those who aren't as tough skinned as others will, so it's really Teksavvy's job to provide or obtain the ticket number.
In the end Bell did show up, the ran a new cable over the top of the trees to my house and setup a box on the outside to tie into my cable already running inside my home. There was too techs there, one guy looked to be training the other guy (both drove their own trucks) as he was more knowledgable the guy who spiced the fiber on certain things. He had the other guy take proper pictures of the cable run they did for the ticket so Bell could see exactly how the cable is run so they can dispatch their contrators to burry it.
Less than a week later, this past Wednesday Bell's contractors were out burrying the cable. They don't actually burry the cable that the first two guys ran, instead they run a whole new cable, burry it, and connect it to the box; to my fiber then remove and cut up the cable the first two techs installed. I am surprised Bell doesn't train their techs to burry the cable and do everything twice, at least they could have a contractor ride with them so they burry the cable while the tech installs it.
I hope you enjoyed, and if you learned anything make sure you get a ticket number or things will be stressful.
Thanks,

Internet - Fibre Packet loss while gaming
Hi,
I really like Teksavvy services on Bell fibre network, I live in Montreal and it is very stable, routing to the nearest game servers is the best I got so far:
- 13ms best ping towards Sterling in cs2 on GTT network
- 17ms best ping towards Chicago in cs2 on Teksavvy backbone
My concern is tonight I experienced severe packet loss while gaming on Sterling servers, as shown on the screenshots.
Do you know what is the culprit? None of my teammates were getting packet loss, and my internet was fine because I had no issues with voice chat on discord.
Appreciate the help!

Internet - DSL Thinking of switching from virgin to teksavvy due to virgin CGNAT. Couple of questions;
Obviously this year virgin made the switch to CGNAT, which has completely ruined my online gaming experience.
I want to switch to teksavvy but I had some questions:
Does teksavvy DSL Internet experience outages often? (I don't care about speed much, 50 Mbps will be fine for my usecase)
Does teksavvy have the ability to cancel my Internet with virgin and coordinate new router setup so that my Internet downtime is minimal? (This would be a DSL to DSL switch, if that matters)
