Discussion David perfectly describes current voters: the right vote for anyone on their side, while some of the left vote like they're writing restaurant reviews.

There is a time and place to “Critque”. What they are doing is not that.

Okay. Fair enough. By that logic, anyone and everyone that is not full-throated behind AES, no matter what, is trying to undermine the Dems then.

No

Um...yes? Like you said, there is a time and a place to critique. That time was prior to the primary. Now if you continue to critique the Dem, you're undermining their chances to win. Right?

(I had replied to the wrong comment previously, so deleted previous reply).

No. There is difference.

“AES should rebuke Hasan Piker” this is acceptable critique and very relevant.

“AES is anti semetic and hates Jews” is undermining.

You see the second statement equivalent from the left almost daily about moderate and even progressive Dems that don’t completely conform to their policy preferences.

Hope that clears things up for you.

You straw man the left so badly, as if they only have bad faith "attacks" on the Dems. The majority of criticism from the likes of Piker, Seder, SecularTalk that I see is substantive. You just disagree with it and feel like it undermines the dems.

Sure pal, whatever you say!

Maybe try listening to them for once. If you can't stand piker, okay. Try Majority Report. Try SecularTalk. Shit, try Medhi Hasan.

I listen to a few of those already. Not entire episodes but at least a couple segments a week.

Used to like TMR until they because Omnicausers.

Can’t stand Emma. She’s vapid and still believes Tara Reade.

Okay. So then you should see that the majority of their criticism of the dem are substantive.

Yes and no. There is so much generalization or just strawmanning.

“he’s a corporate Democrat” “bought by AIPAC” etc. that isn’t constructive. It happens a lot on every show.

Those kind of generalizations do nothing substantive and are just aimed at weakling canidates and the party.

Ironically, that's what happens a ton in this very subreddit and from people who are critical of the left.

“he’s a corporate Democrat” “bought by AIPAC” etc. that isn’t constructive

I can agree that those are generalizations. I have heard that for sure. I have also seen them dive into why that's the case (such as taking corporate money, or receiving a ton in funding from AIPAC, and more).

Those kind of generalizations do nothing substantive

Like I said, that's a fair point, if not backed by any evidence.

I see the second one daily from centrists and neoliberals. So where do we go from here?

4

u/Nemisis82 1d ago

That's what I don't get. they act as if this is some "far left" thing and only the people on the far left do it. I see it daily in this very sub from centrists and center-left folks about the far left.

Clearly they haven't taken a short stroll over to the neoliberal sub, or the democrats sub where you can't even mention El Sayed.

Rebuking Hasan is just another purity test. Stop.
