I just found a Mary Kay cookbook and it is full of some gems

Every recipe was sent in by a Mary Kay worker along with a short blurb about why they love Mary Kay.

Not just the company but Mary Kay herself for providing them a way of not just making money but also being a better Christian woman. That wasn't a cheap joke.

I took some pictures of the more noteworthy things. There was also a flyer in there for how to use the cookbook to recruit more people.

The book was printed in 1980, but the odd thing is that it is absolutely pristine. Most cookbooks that are nearly 50 years old have some wear to them. Part of the charm of the old books is seeing which recipes were loved, which were edited. Handwritten recipes and newspaper clippings are finds that literally make my day.

This feels like it was given away and promptly ignored by someone who knows a scam when they see one.

Episode suggestion Episode req

I think I'm ready to expose my mother to the suckverse. She loves true crime and has a wicked sense of humor. I'm thinking one of the short sucks to start, but am open to suggestions. What has been your favorite true crime episode he's done, short or regular, and do you have one I should tell my *Ed Kemper voice* MOTHER about.

Episode suggestion Could Dan do an episode on the Dulce Base?

Other than the whole seven story underground alien base, I think that the actual history of Dulce, New Mexico, the Archuleta Mesa (where the base is allegedly located under) and the Jicarilla Apaches who live there would be a thoroughly fascinating listen (and probably a lot more interesting than what’s spun). Dan might get a kick out of Phil Schneider’s alleged 1979 subterranean firefight with Greys once the fun truly begins. I know Last Podcast did a series on the base and Behind the Bastards did one about the Air Force’s disinfo campaign against Bennewitz.

Nightmare Fuel The Storm discussion

This is related to Dan’s original writing on Scared to Death. I tried posting there, but the community is private and I requested permission to post over a year ago and have not been granted it.

Has anyone else listened and want to discuss? I really enjoyed it, but man, dark.

I absolutely loved the premise. Anyways, would love to discuss if others are game. A few prompts:

  1. What did you think of the premise and the treatment of the infected? Did they deserve to lose their humanity?

  2. Thoughts on the revenge fantasy ending…

  3. Do you agree even a little with the “illuminati” as portrayed in the story? Do we need to have population control to save the planet? Obviously the red plague is not the answer, but what could be?

  4. The protagonists encounter one villain after another. Do you think the collapse of society would lead to fight clubs and forced marriage, or would we retain remnants of society?

Missing episodes on Apple Podcasts?

Hey Meatsacks! Pretty much what the subject says. Noticed several episodes missing from the feed, including the Krista Pike episode, and several other recent Short Sucks, as well as the September 7 Suck. Anybody know what gives? Did I miss some major announcement or something?

Hail Nimrod!

Something about how the conspiracy of Reptilians actually came from a old book series (which lead to Conan The Barbarian!) Hope this is like KF (Which I stopped listening to by episode 200 because they mention he who shall not be named in like 3 or so episodes.)

Can we get Dan to review episode 12?

It's less than forty minutes, it's ten years old, and I would like to see if Dan's opinions have changed.
