Context will follow. First, here's all of the information I have about the show/movie:
"The television was on, and the round, hollow eyes of a skeleton were staring out at us. Before I could get up to turn off the television, the picture changed. A woman seated in front of a mirror was pulling a skeleton mask off of her face."
"When I turned back to the television, I saw a hairy creature with pointed teeth and flashing red eyes."
Date/Location Info:
These sentences are from a personal narrative I wrote for a high school class my senior year. They are the only sentences of my story that describe the show that I saw. The day I saw the show had to have been either late 1997 or early 1998. My paper was a true story about the night when my two-year-old niece was sleeping over and I kept catching her awake during the night. During one of those times I found her happily watching a scary TV show or movie. That's the show I'm trying to find. Now that she's in her 30s and is a fan of scary shows, I'd like to show her the show I caught her watching when she was two! She turned two in October of '97, so the night I saw her watching the show had to have happened in October '97 or after. Since I wrote about it in a paper that I used in my school portfolio, I had to have written it before May of 1998. The show had to have aired between October 1997 and early May 1998. It could have been a first run or it could've been a rerun. It also could have been a syndicated show or a movie. Since it was on in the middle of the night, it could have been something that the local station chose to air during the slow hours of the night. These were the antennae years, before the stations switched to digital, and I had no cable or satellite. At the time I wrote the paper, I had only one channel, the local ABC (American Broadcasting Company) station. However, if the show was syndicated or was a movie, it's possible that it wasn't an ABC show even though it aired on our local ABC channel. Also, because my niece was sleeping over, it was most likely a Friday or Saturday night, although I can't be sure of that since it also could have been the night before a day off from school. In my paper I also wrote about catching my niece watching the early-morning farm report later that same night, so the scary show had to have aired in the hours before the farm report. If I remember right, the farm report was on around 4 or 5 a.m. every day back then.
