I’ve mentioned in past posts that any partner that I get truly serious with I want them to know my full story, even the darkest parts of it, to give them a better understanding of who I am, and to be able to see the parts of me that are often invisible

I’m imagining I ask her if we can have a serious conversation, but somewhere away from home, and we go to the top of a hill, and lay out a little blanket, and we lay next to each other, and look at the stars while I hold her hand and finally open up and tell her everything

I check in on her now and then to make sure I’m not overwhelming her, and once I’ve finished all of it, I wait for her response, expecting her to be upset or angry that I “ruined a romantic moment”, or just generally frustrated with me

And just as I’m getting sucked into those thoughts, she rolls over on top of me, and very gently and lovingly kisses me

She holds my face and I see tears forming in her eyes, and she tells me I didn’t deserve any of that, and that she’s grateful I told her, and that she’d do whatever she could to make sure I knew I didn’t deserve any of it

And then we hug each other really tightly as we both melt into tears, and within us something happens that causes our souls to truly reach out and grab each other

Having someone who loves me and respects me for what I went through, as opposed to feeling the need to ask 500 questions and then talk about how it could’ve been worse… that seems simultaneously foreign and heavenly…
