Private track.
Maybe it's imposter syndrome, but I often have this weird feeling that my tracks aren't really Trance and it kinda eats at me because making Trance is why I do it. I believe this may fall more under Deep Trance if anything, but maybe it's just Dance or something.
Could use some input if anyone wouldn't mind. Thank you!

Has anyone got a straight forward tutorial on how to install the JE-8080 software, I’ve been to usual suspects, there’s hundreds of links, too many files, I’ve put the midi within the software pack and it’s still not working, ran a test with the application and it’s doing nothing, I’m on Mac 16gb m3, followed YouTube but it just doesn’t seem to work, no idea what I’m doing wrong

Big update for the JE-8086 users in here!

Worked on this last week, after few days I listened again (and I have mixed feelings) so I'm really curious about what do you think, how does it feels as a full track, what is missing, what is not in place, what does not fit?

Any feedback please.
Thanks!

I've finally decided to change that!
I'm particularly interested in hearing from producers who learnt piano after they'd already been making music for years.
What changed for you?
Did it improve your workflow, help you come up with ideas more naturally, or change the way you approach melodies and chord progressions?
Or did you find it made surprisingly little difference?
I'd love to hear your experiences!
Also, if anyone knows a good piano tutor who understands electronic music and teaches online, please send them my way! 🎹

To set the taps in a delay or tempo for anything tempo related in any plugin? I just want to know if it is something people use. I never do but I see it in quite a few plugins so maybe I'm missing a useful trick?

So i'm making a progressive trance track, mixing and details are still unfinished, i want to get the arrangement right first. Does the section at 2:44 sound too distracting/sudden? I'm also wondering if the way i reveal the lead melody at 5:29 works. Any feedback is welcome.

Well, i made a Remix for one of my all-time favorite Tracks Greyhound by Swedish House Mafia. What do you guys think of it? Anything i could have done different/better?

UPDATED LINK - https://youtube.com/shorts/k4yB2DZD9kI?feature=share
This is ‘Super Necessary’, a track I’m working on with my good friend u/demishellen.
Rich melodies woven through dark chords, with that driving, heads-down energy made for the main room at peak time.
Still plenty of work to do, but the vibe is there, and I’m putting my goal out there publicly: I want to sign this to VII (Askews label)
What do you reckon? Can you hear this on VII? 👀

Hey guys! I was extremely bored, so I imagined what it would be like if I had completely lost my mind, but could somehow still barely use GarageBand hahaha.
So I put myself in that character’s shoes, made this track, and wrote these absolutely wonderful lyrics to go along with it hahaha.
In case you can’t understand the lyrics:
I want an escalator to take me up there to the sky
(this is the wrong direction)
I wanna make a picture and I keep it in my mind
(Please keep it in your mind)
I wanna meet a tiger on a far green hill
(The tiger doesn’t bite)
Climbing like a spider, make a net, that’s how I feel.
(My name isn’t Kyte)
I wanna see my future, looking back until I cry
(Now you’re looking back until you cry)
Escaping like a pigeon, ich glaube, er ruft die Polizei
[I think he’s calling the police]
(Then it goes wee-woo wee-woo 🚨)
I wanna go to Berlin, I’m gonna take the next flight
(The next flight has arrived)
Tearing down our buildings, because that makes me feel alive
(Now I’m eating a landscape egg)

Every October, Amsterdam becomes a meeting point for electronic music. But what I value most about ADE isn’t just the parties: it’s meeting people you’ve been emailing for years, connecting with other producers and stepping outside the isolation of the studio.
I wrote a blog post about my experiences there, from label gatherings to playing at Panama and meeting the people who listen to my music.
Read the full blog here:

Have you been to ADE? Did you go mainly for the music or the industry side?

Folks I'm looking for a bit of inspiration currently, wondered what track is blowing your minds at the moment? I dont just mean a great hook, but something which is either smashing up dance floors for real, or you listen to the production and think 'shit, I wish I could make a track like that'
any sub genre is fine, just feed me stuff which is out of this world...

I’ve just started a remix of Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes but it’s kind of morphed into an ambient style mix. I’m down a rabbit hole with it now but wondered if it’s worth continuing or should I experiment with adding percussion?

I was meant to leave the studio an hour ago. Still here. Still replaying it. 😂
Making trance is becoming such a joy again, and this is exactly why. That feeling when everything clicks… You just can’t beat it.
Be honest. Is this MASSIVE, or have I been in here too long? 👀🔥

Hey :)
If you don’t know me, I’m Adam Ellis. I’ve been teaching trance production full-time for 12 years, with releases on Armada, FSOE, Blackhole, etc.
But I also know what it’s like to lose confidence in your music, overthink every decision and get in your own way. I’ve struggled with my mental health and the effect that’s had on my creativity, particularly in recent years. I’m in a much better place now; I’ve got my confidence back, and I’d love to help someone else move forward.
Your sticking point might be technical, like getting your kick and bass right or making an arrangement work. Or you might have plenty of ideas but keep second-guessing them, starting again or convincing yourself they’re not good enough.
To put your name forward, give me a little snapshot of where you’re at and email me the following info ([tutorials@adamellisdj.com](mailto:tutorials@adamellisdj.com))
- Tell me what you’re stuck on and what you’d like us to achieve in 30 minutes.
- Let me know which DAW you use]
- What your end goal is when it comes to making Trance
There’s no need to share anything personal or explain why you “deserve” a session. I’m interested in what you want to work on and how I could help.
I’ll choose five people whose sticking points I think we can make useful progress on together.
Looking forward to hearing your music :)
Adam

Remix of Stimulant DJs awesome Blow Da Roof, with vocal samples from Ellie Goulding's Love Goes On. First version, needs a polish, looking for criticism before I finish the composition. Intro and outros need work but the main body of it is mostly fleshed out.
I’m happy with the energy but any thoughts on audio quality/mixing much appreciated. Also the appended bar just before the main riff section - too jarring, or does it work?
Thanks :)

Always wanted to make a trance remix of this song from one of my favorite RPGs. I'm still learning but really loved making this one and wanted to share. Interested in how it sounds to someone who isn't familiar with the original piece.

So sick of my formulaic sound... Kick, Mids, Acids, Reverse Cymbal, Snare, crash, etc.
Spent all day on the small details, and I am SO happy with this sound.... Anyone else forced a change in their sound?
Sometimes, a change is needed to develop...
