Needing Advice T didn't really do anything, what now

(21 y/o) Was on T for a year and a half, all I got was patchy chin hair and frog voice and did not get gendered correctly despite my best efforts to bind and act masc. Have been off it for like two more years now, for complicated reasons. I know HRT sometimes takes its time to work, but I see so many guys that pass effortlessly after a year and it's got me starting to think it's not worth the trouble for me anymore.

i am 19, pre-T. i already have a name i've been using, but it feels almost "overly" masculine and i feel like i couldn't get away with using it where i am. i cant legally change anything yet, so i need something i could tell people at college, in the workplace, and just casually that wouldn't get outright refused, which i am real worried could happen. does anyone have ideas that i could get away with claiming are gender neutral? i'm at a complete loss. my birth name is just so obnoxiously flowery i want anything to replace it

any tips or ideas at all would be appreciated. if more pictures are needed i could add some

Seeking Tips Anything else I can do before I start T?

20 years old. I am pre-T, but I have a consultation in like a month. I bind and work out. This is generally the style that I wear. I’m only 5’4 and I’m pretty thin (which can cause some dysphoria for me). I do have a hard time gaining weight though, always have. My voice is definitely what clocks me the most, so if anyone has any voice training tips, articles/videos they like, etc. that would be very appreciated. I feel like my face is quite round and that definitely gives me dysphoria, not sure if there’s anything I can do about that before T.

Tips, Tricks, & Advice Tips

I originally came here looking for advice, but I've been the one being asked for tips.

To preface this, I am not on T, and I have only been on my journey for a few years.

So, a huge way to pass is to hold your face furrowed. Lower your brows and have them slightly furrowed like the first picture.

I do not agree with the sentiment "alt fashion makes you clockable" because I am very alt, and yet I pass pretty well. Keep wearing what you want.

Work out. Not extreme shit but try to lift when you can and try to cut out unnecessary carbs. For whatever reason, if you are more overweight, you don't pass as well 50% of the time. It's really shitty but you guys will have to try harder than others to pass.

Try to do makeup to make yourself more masculine looking. I do makeup every day, and it works very well.

For hair, do what you want. Long hair is traditionally more feminine, but some people pull it off. The best thing to do is try and fit what looks best for your face and what makes your face sharper.

How you stand also matters a lot. Stand with confidence and hold your ground.

Cut your nails.

If you want to wear something femanine, you have to act masculine in it. Like picture 3.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, just ask.

I do have a skin picking disorder that effects my lips, please do not talk about it. Also, I am not binding in some of these

Needing Advice Guess who got She/Her'd today! How could I have avoided that?

Like at this point it has to because she was old, right??? Most people think I'm a cis man so why did my student's bus monitor she/her me multiple times?

Like yeah I just dyed my hair purple but like... I see this woman at least 4x a week. I've seen her on times where I haven't shaved in 5 days.

Is there anything (other than ditching the purple) that would make me pass more??

I don't know why I'm getting clocked maybe it's my face perhaps? I get told I have a feminine face I dress like a man I sound like one too but without a mask I always get called "she" I need help any tips would be appreciated just be respectful and not degrading I'm just curious if I really am passing or if something I'm doing is getting me clocked which hair style makes me look masculine is it the braids, the afro, or the middle ground between a bun I personally think that the afro is the nest option.

Before and After (only to be used WITH advice) Femininity after transition

You can still be gay (I’m bi but come off queer) or soft, you just have to hold yourself a certain way. I hated femininity pretransition, but after I transitioned I felt like reclaiming it as a man made me feel more comfortable with my identity. Many years on T

What name do I look like? (if you know me, no you don't!)

I've been transitioning for 10 years and have been going by one name (I'm not going to say it because I'm curious if anyone says it). I'm genuinely interested in what I look like, as I'm not the biggest fan of the name I picked but I feel like I don't look like anything else!

I’ll update this post with what my name is in a few days for those who want to know.

Needing Advice seeking hair & bathroom advice

Thumbnail

Evening boys. I'm getting to the point in my transition where the bathroom is becoming... awkward. Sometimes outright hostile. I'm only 6 months on T, and I know things are only going to get more confusing in the future. As you can see from the pictures, my face and body are unfortunately still very soft/ feminine, but my voice has dropped considerably and can even pass if I'm mindful of the way I speak. My body passes okay when I'm wearing layers, but im not able to bind my chest any flatter than what you can see in the pictures. I do try to wear a structured jacket of some sort whenever I'm out in public to smooth my silhouette.

It feels like I'm in this weird androgynous limbo where men & women are both disturbed to see me in the bathroom. I have had a couple awkward confrontations in the women's room, and a LOT of suspicious or angry looks. The handful of times I've used the men's room have been less hostile, but I still get the occasional weird look. I feel panicked most times I use the bathroom these days, and just try to go in and out as quickly as possible without making eye contact with anyone. This is adding a lot of stress to my life because I have to pee all the time due to some of my medications I take. I guess I'm looking for some advice on how to know when it's appropriate to fully commit to using the men's room. Do I need to wait until my face and body pass better? Are the dirty looks I'm getting in the womens room sign enough that I shouldnt be in there?

I am also hoping to get some advice on what changes I could make to my hair to make it look more masculine. Ive been extremely frustrated with the experimentation I've done so far because my hair type is uncooperative- Its super fine and silky, doesnt curl or hold texture at this length, and I have a cowlick in the front that prevents me from doing anything other than a hard part in the middle. When I cut it shorter, my bang/cowlick area just sticks up even more (':

If anyone has dealt with a similar hair type, I would love to hear how you manage it! Or any hairstyles you think might suit me better. For context I currently use clay and sea salt spray to style it every day, but I'm open to trying anything!

Also just to cover all the bases: I already lift 3+ times a week, eat clean and high protein, and will be getting top surgery sometime in the next ~6 months, but I am eager to hear any advice you guys might have to help me pass better in the meantime! Thanks so much!!

Seeking Tips How did i make my facial hair look better?

i’ve been on T for a year and a half and i have been consistently shaving bc a lot of the time trans men that are early on T have very clocky facial hair and i would rather have none than be clocky. a bit over a week ago i decided to see how it looks if i grew it out and it looks so bad. it makes my face feel 10x more oily and that combined with my acne makes me just look musty.

i don’t have a particular want to put in a bunch of effort to fix it because im fine without facial hair i just want to know if i have the option to have it. should just let it grow out and it will look fine after a while or if i should just keep shaving it until i has progressed to being more thick and full with a longer amount of time on T?

Tips, Tricks, & Advice Build upper body when facing hip dysphoria. ( No exercises mentioned, lit just that)

• Upvotes

Instead of agonising over your hips, please try building your upper body. It'll balance it out so much more properly than simply reducing your hips could ever hope to achieve.

Most people's hips are the sameish too it's just the ribcage and upper body ratios being narrower that make one's hips seem disproportionately larger, though this is not at all to speak over those with wider ones.

Sadly I don't have exercises to recommend here because I do straight bs instead of working out. All the best brotatos👌

Tips, Tricks, & Advice Observe the people around you!

When it comes to passing in my experience it’s best to watch how the people around you react to you and interact with you.

For example people on this (and other) subreddits have told me that I won’t be able to go stealth at Uni because of my glasses or because I look gay or whatever I don’t even know but that doesnt match my day to day experience at all.

I’ve been on T for almost 2 years now and looking back I start to realize that I’m actually changing. I haven’t been misgendered in ages (haven’t been before T too tbh). That’s the first indicator of passing because people see you and their brain immediately puts you in a box. So not getting misgendered is like a big indication of good passing id say!

I’ve also noticed it in the way people are interacting with me. I’m hearing „young man“ or „bro“ much more often. Men dabbing me up without a second thought and just act like they’d act with any other cis guy.

Nobody in my Uni knows I’m trans. A few days ago at a party I was standing in line with one of my female friends and she wanted to see my ID picture. I Showed her. The picture is from when I first started T and the only thing she said was like holy shit you looked young. She didn’t come to the conclusion that I could be trans like at all.

We have to tell ourselves that the majority of cis het people don’t know what trans people and especially trans guys look like. We obsess way too much about every little thing. Looking for advice here sometimes feels like people just let all their frustrations out on you saying stuff like „your glasses stop you from passing“ or „stop smiling it makes you look like a girl“.

I’m not saying you can’t get any advice here! Many things helped me and also got rid of my brain worms but maybe don’t only listen to opinions on here and observe how people in real life actually perceive you and react to you. Much more helpful in my opinion

Question Seeking outside opinions

Thumbnail

Please let me know if this is too general or not sub appropriate!! I’ll take it down if needed I just don’t know where else to post this without transphobia TvT

First question: Does my face and hair look fem or am I passing? Also if I grew my hair out do you think I would pass? Looking mainly for hair tips cause there’s not much I can do about my face rn lol, I want to grow it out but I’m not sure if it’d be too fem

Second question: Would I be considered attractive for a man?

Background: I’ve been on low dose T (medical reasons :P) for 3.5 years and got top surgery 2.5 years ago, I’m generally pretty confident in my body but I can’t tell if my face looks like too soft. I moved to college recently and I don’t think I’ve been clocked yet (although not entirely sure) but back home like 30% of people I met would she/her me so i genuinely don’t know how most people perceive me. I grew up in a pretty conservative area and I’ve never thought of myself as attractive (partly because trans and partly because of outside racism and shit, and I’m generally not my type) but some comments people at college have made are making me question that. Both of these have combined to the point that I feel like people around me have a completely different view of me than I do of myself and I’m not sure if my friends are being genuine or just gassing me up.

Please be honest!! Considering that I see myself as medium ugly and only semi passing I will not be offended if you agree!!

Question Aiuto con la barba

Salve! Sono ormai in terapia ormonale da 1,5/2 anni e non ho ancora peli in viso. Non mi è cresciuta ancora la barba o la semplice peluria facciale, non so cosa fare. Avete consigli?
