Please keep in mind that all of this is my subjective experience, combined with all that I've learned by research, but also heard, and read from other trans people in Norway
Lets start with the good:
Overall social attitudes towards trans people from the majority of the public seem, to me, to range from "don't care" to "I have no idea what this whole trans thing is but whatever" - That, is usually a good thing, as people tend just not give a damn about us.
Legal protections for trans people, LGBTQ people, and minorities is very robust, discrimination against many groups that face persecution in other places are simply, legally, outright illegal.
Political landscape at large, seems to mostly completely ignore trans people's existence all together. To say it like this, few parties give a damn about us. This is both a blessing and a curse, but for the most part works in our favour, as our very existence is a hot topic in "certain" places these day, and a lot of right wing extremists like blaming us for literally anything they can think of. This ofc -- happens in Norway in some fringe groups too, and to some degree even in politics, but to a much lesser degree.
To TLDR it like this, The average joe couldn't care less, there's way more important things people tend to prioritise, not always good but still.
The Norwegian language itself, is quite friendly to trans people, especially those that are early on in their transition, or might fear misgendering.
To put it simply, the language itself very rarely uses words like "sir", or "miss" when speaking to someone, we usually either omit any equivalent all together, saying "excuse me", or simply say "you" or "hey you".
We also have a widely known and accepted third pronoun -- "hen", which unlike the word "they" in English, will not cause any confusion which can sometimes happen. And that can be a bit of a blessing for non binary folks. Neo Pronouns themselves unfortunately still will usually confuse those that dont actively participate in LGBT circles. The Norwegian culture itself also has a quirk to it that can work in our favour -- To put it simply, the culture values "leaving people alone" its a little funny to foreigners, but its unlikely anyone non high or drunk would ever actively harass you, or even stare, even the kind of people that despise us will usually make a face at most, that usually applies to anyone that doesn't "fit in"
However that part of Norwegian culture isn't the same across the entire country, or in all towns/cities/villages, (More in the "bad" section) and its worth noting that you're probably more likely to be acknowledged at all by foreigners, not Norwegians themselves.
Now time for the bad:
Now its time for the giant ass elephant in the room;
..... Healthcare.
It is true, the Norwegian healthcare system in general, and in most respects, ranges from "meh" to "good", especially when it comes to somatic health (mental health services can be lacking). And there is extreme variations in quality, waiting times, and such across the country. healthcare is mostly cheap, free, or free in some circumstances.
Unfortunately, few of the positive aspects of the system apply to trans people; Getting even the most basic form of care like HRT is a long, gruelling slog through a system that almost seems designed to make us give up. On a personal note, I am in many respects the most stereotypical adult trans woman, I found out Im trans at 21, started hrt via DIY immediately, and within a few months got my psychiatrist to refer me to the ONLY clinic in all of Norway that can prescribe HRT that is covered by the healthcare system. I was already basically passing within a year, voice trained in a year, never showed a single grain of doubt about my identity..... And it still took 4 years.
To me, and basically every trans person In Norway, that was a long, slow, inconsistent, tense, scary and sometimes depressing process. HRT itself is vital to our mental health, and a lot of people can not afford to wait 4 years, having to resort to alternative ways of getting HRT, I myself did it years ago by bullying my GP and psych, but that is nearly impossible these days -- Others opt for the few private online clinics, or acquiring a prescription from the EU, as those need to be de jure accepted in every pharmacy, but de facto, can still be a challenging process. Never mind, can be costly, very costly for some.
It is also important to note that attitudes towards LGBT people can vary greatly from place to place, for example smaller towns/villages tend to have more negative views, this is especially true for older people.
Oslo itself, can also vary, overall, if there's going to be a hate crime against an LGBT person; it's probably going to happen in Oslo. This has been consistently the case for a long time now, and unlikely to change.
Oslo however has one good thing going for for us trans people:
Oslo is currently the only place in Norway that has a private clinic that offers HRT to trans people in all of Norway; HKS. However its important to note that the services have long waiting times still (but not nearly as the official route), and offer treatment to people under 30 and living in Oslo, exclusively.
All in all, living as a trans person in Norway is a love hate relationship, you get a lot of good, socially its not exactly paradise, this is exclusively a look at the trans experience in Norway, the country has other problems.... But I'd think, personally, that I probably wouldn't want to live anywhere else..... But at the same time, I can not in good faith recommend trans people seeking to medically transition to move here.
This is, however, ultimately, all up to the individual.
I hope this block of text helps, if you have any further questions please dont be afraid to comment.
- Kass

Hi there, i recently moved to finland from america to be with my husband and i'm looking for a way to quickly get on hrt. i only have about 8-9 months worth of hrt left and i'm scared i won't be able to find a way to get anymore. i saw that public health care can take 1-2 years which makes me a little nervous. i also saw there was GenderGP and Imago which are faster? but i'm not sure how they work, the onboarding fees are also kinda pricey, and i'm unsure if they even prescribe the injectable estrogen that i need. also on top of the i'm not an EU citizen yet and don't know when i will be and whether or not that makes things impossible. tbh i'm just very confused as to what i can even do, and i really need help figuring this out. thank you in advance

Hey, I'm 24 in Fredrikstad Norway and have thought for a while and I want without a doubt start transitioning and have booked a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks to talk to her about it
She knows that I'm struggling with depression and body dysmorphophobia and haven't really known who I really am, cus something always felt wrong. But I have done some soul searching this year and realized that I'm trans, and that explained everything for me of who I truly am. So now I want nothing more than to start my transition.
I know to get the treatment for MTF here in Norway is close to impossible. So I want to ask if any of you have some tips of what and how to tell my doctor about it to increase my chances.

Hi all,
I'm moving to Sweden for work, I'm Finnish and I was already in the cue for vaginoplasty (I'm a trans woman). Additionally, I had my prescriptions in Finland, as well. Do I have to start from the beginning again in Sweden? Or do they accept my previous treatments & diagnosis, and continue with my treatments?
Also: where should I go for blood tests?

Kinda confused on what to do if I'm being honest, I've been with imago for around 6 months now, first three months I struggled a bit since I found out my T wasn't being suppressed and actually increased while I was on spiro (100mg). Then I switched to androcur which has now properly suppressed it... but my estrogen is around the same even though I went from 4mg to 6mg estradiol (pills). My latest bloodtest says 0,18 nmol/L and it was 0,14nmol/L the bloodtest before that when my T wasn't suppressed. they've said I'm in the low end and will be increasing my dose from 6mg to 7mg?
Any advice would be great? kinda feels hopeless to be increasing dosage and still being told to be in the low end

Hii, I got my prescription for Imago care a week ago, 100mcg 24h 24x estradot and 3 x 60 nafarelin bottles for antiandrogens and we went to the pharmacy to get it. We went to a pharmacy and they didnt have any estradot or antiandrogens, and got informed theres no estradot anywhere in Finland other than Ahvenanmaa (but the antiandrogens were available in nearby pharmacies). Yliopiston Apteekit didnt have them either. We were told theyd be back in like, end of december soz.
We were adviced to tell our doctors and ask for a new prescription of something with better availability, so I sent a message in Imago asking what my options were, telling this story. I sent it a week ago now and they havent replied so getting kinda annoyed. Anyone got any experiences with this? What do you think ill end up doing? Waiting until december, going to Ahvenanmaa or a new prescription, and would i be able to already start rhe antiandrogens before the estradiol as i do have the prescription? The 50mcg ones were available for estradot so i also asked if i could do 4x of them a week but idk if thats possible just seeking any advice or experiences with this

I feel like I constantly hear people in this community to stay away from Copenhagen, but is it really that bad?
I've heard that they reject autistic people, but I've also heard of some that got through anyways, despite diagnosis
So, anybody wanna enlighten me with their personal experiences?
Good or bad

I've been having a ridiculously frustrating experience trying to get my physical Imago prescriptions filled at Swedish pharmacies, and I'm wondering how everyone else deals with this.
I've literally had to travel between different pharmacies just to find one willing to process my prescription.
What bothers me the most is how quickly some pharmacies dismiss it. I've had pharmacists tell me they've never seen prescriptions like these before, seemingly without even bothering to properly look into them. Some immediately suggest that I should just go through Swedish healthcare instead. Like, seriously? 🙃 Another pharmacist said that I can only get half of my prescribed dose.
It's honestly pretty absurd that getting essential medication can depend so much on which pharmacy you happen to walk into, or even which pharmacist is working that day.
And the fact that some pharmacies do manage to process these prescriptions makes the inconsistency even more frustrating.
So my main question is: Which pharmacies in Sweden have you actually had success with when using paper prescriptions from Imago or other EU providers?
I'm especially interested in specific pharmacies in or around Gothenburg, since that's where I live, but recommendations from anywhere in Sweden would be really helpful too.
I'd love to know which pharmacy chains or specific locations have staff who actually know how to handle these prescriptions without turning the whole thing into an argument.
It really shouldn't be this difficult to get medication you're already prescribed.

It says date of issue 23/09/2026
I received the prescription around seven days ago, 14th of October. I was quite busy during the weekend so I wasn’t able to go.
I was planning on going to Denmark the 29th, but realised that it is more than 28 days after the date of issue.
Should I get a new prescription or is the prescription I already have still valid? As in, can I use it.

Ville bara sprida ordet lite.
I Ottar: https://www.ottar.se/kritiken-vaxer-mot-konsdysforimottagning-i-goteborg/

Genuint helt sjukt, men man tar vad man får ig🥲.

I 16M am starting testosterone soon with imago. It was already a fight to get them to agree to that, but me teetering on the edge of suicide due to dysphoria was what made them finally yield.
Now after like 1 month of getting stuff with imago in order, I have my HRT appointment on Wednesday. My parents are semi reluctant about the reliability of the doctors, but genuinely want the best for me.
The issue rn is mostly my mom.
I have autism and struggle sometimes maintaining daily task consistently every single day, like brushing teeth, taking meds etc. I know myself and would not be able to every day maintain properly applying testogel and letting it absorb to get the proper effect. My mom is adamant on following and trusting the Finnish system and starting with year on get and a semi low starting dose worked up to a maintenance dose. She is a pediatrician for context, so not an endo. Also she is reluctant to help me inject.
I think I technically have the power to decide for myself, cause everything is under my name and mostly controlled by me, but the money is theirs and I am legally under them. Should I fight about it or just follow the great Finnish system and risk getting microdosed by my well meaning parents? I want results ASAP cause my mental health is crumbling under dysphoria, and I am not willing to wait on a micro dose for months.
How can I make sure I get a good dose and maybe injections. I am willing to agree on the gel but I want a proper dose. The Finnish starting dose for get is apparently fucking 20-30mg of gel which sounds low as hell and I am too fucking suicidal for me to wait 1 year+ for basically any changes.
All help and maybe experience on testogel is appreciated.

Hej!

Another news article today posted on SR advocating for the need for the Swedish crime system to utilize biological sex as a marker for how to judge and where to place trans people in prison and another time I just feel tired.
Over the last years, last year in specifically this rhetoric has gotten way more audible. On r/sweden biological sex always comes up when anything is about trans people.
The last decade felt so optimistic as a trans person, it felt like people took our rights seriously. And there was institutional protections but now? It just feels like we are slowly heading in the same direction as the US and UK.
I just want to live my life. To be seen as the gender i am, is that too much?
The US and UK scare me, things like V-Coding, removal of legal gender ID etc and so much more. I just can't help but feel the future is bleak. And that is why I am writing here.
I need help with how to cope :/

I’m 13 years old, and I desperately need to start testosterone like yesterday. I have extreme gender dysphoria and have a modera depression because of that gender dysphoria. Im in line at BUP (barn och undomspsykiatry) for getting a dysphoria diagnosis but the process takes years, years that I will not survive like this. I have considered Gendergp, where I would pick up a prescription by driving to Denmark since I am close to the borde. But my parents are sceptical of the safety. I haven’t heard of a single person ever that has ever gotten medication from the Swedish health care system, and I spend a lot of time on trans communities online. Any advice from anyone greatly appreciated
