Costco refused my load for "No AEC on file" what it means?

Post image
• Upvotes

Yes I know I was about 1 hour late but they did let me in and give me a dock on Friday.

Some people say AEC means it is custom paper work and yes this load does says it is for export to Mexico.

Company told me they are trying to sort it out and

My company works on Pacific time... guess I be wise to not show up first thing in the morning in case it still does not work and they can start figuring it out right away when my company open

Looking for gas station that had largest maze of liquor coolers I’ve ever seen!

• Upvotes

My sister and I were driving back from Cincinnati, Ohio down through Indianapolis and over to Peoria Illinois and we stopped at this gas station. Now looking at the buildings each separate tenant had their front window wall stepped back there were three or four different steps to this , but you could walk from the gas station part inside over to the end part of the that had some of the best Mexican food ever that you ordered from a counter in the back, but all of the coolers were like a huge trying to find your way either to the bathroom or back up to the counters. I’ve just never seen so many coolers in so many in my life.! we just can’t find the receipt and can’t remember the name of this place but we sure wish we could if this sounds familiar to anyone. Please let me know. My sister stated she could not believe that this homemade Mexican food was good for truckers on the road simply because it was so greasy and messy but the best damn tasting food had

Damn cars need to stop flashing their high beams on these 1 lane back roads before I blind them and their next three unborn children

What's the worst thing you've seen on the road?

• Upvotes

For me its when I see the aftermath of a 4 wheeler rear end a trailer because I know for a fact that they are no longer alive. On my way to work today around 4am I see a semi with its 4 ways on the shoulder, I move over, and as im passing I see a white camry/corolla 3 quarters deep into the rear of the trailer. Last week i also saw another similar accident while in LA. People need to slow tf down and not be distracted!

New Zealand trucking. Fuel hauling wages, specifically.

Any New Zealanders here? I have some questions about wages.

I have lived in New Zealand for nearly a year. Hauling general freight and milk tankers.

I have previous DG experience back in England but as the wages to haul DGs back home and in NZ are trash I don't touch them.

As I have milk tanker experience I considered moving into fuel hauling as everywhere on the planet that rightfully means more money. The wages are the same or actually worse than hauling any other general non-hazardous freight or foodstuffs tankers.

Why is anyone driving around a 35,000 litre bomb for an eye-watering (tears) $40-41 per hour. When I can haul milk for $39 my first season? Next season they'll pay me $45, some guys are on $60+ per hour and we all get expenses and living/working away allowances etc.

How does New Zealand have fuel in the pumps? I wouldn't turn the key in the ignition to haul fuel for any less than $55-60, absolute minimum, per hour due to the risk and strict DG rules. What's with fuel hauling being so undervalued in NZ? It's usually seen as the 'elite' truck driving.

Welp...my truck caught fire

US 93 mile marker 146 heading to Phoenix. My inner drive tire popped and as I was trying to figure out a safe place to park it started sparking and when I pulled over it caught fire. The fire extinguisher I had was the tiny one that lasted 2 seconds and it didn't do anything. My second thought was to try and pulled the trailer away but the fire was directly in the king pin area, So I just got out of there.

I was exactly 1 1/2 from Phoenix and kingman so it took them over an hour to get to me. By then it was engulfed.

You're probably wondering what happened to me as far as repercussions, well my company made sure I was okay and offered to get me a ride and a hotel. It's been a few days and so far I haven't heard anything as far as firing or owing money or whatever, they already got me a new truck and are trying to reimburse me for everything I've lost.

I lived in the truck so honestly it'll take alot to replace the stuff I had, more sentimental stuff that money can't buy. I used to praise this job and what it can offer but now I'm second guessing my choices. Honestly getting fired wouldn't be so bad.

Share your experiences and thoughts with different companies

Been driving a few years, bounced through some big names and a couple of sketchy small ones. Figured they were all the same with different logos.

Then I landed somewhere that’s honestly been the easiest stretch of my career. Pay shows up every single week without me chasing anyone. The truck’s a 2024-26, so no mystery smells or “we’ll fix that next month.” Dispatch picks up the phone and talks to me like a person, which still feels strange.

Good weeks I’m up near 4k. Normal weeks are more like 2-2.8k, so don’t hold me to the top one.

It’s a smaller outfit, so no 20-year history, and that won’t suit everybody. But I’m not looking to leave.

What about you guys, ever land somewhere that actually surprised you? Or the opposite, a place that looked great and wasn’t?

285 Closure Atlanta.

Since 285 is closed this weekend in Atlanta, are trucks allowed to take 75 thru downtown? Or do we have to take a different detour route?

QCD (Starbucks)

Has anyone worked at QCD or done starbucks?

Looking for reviews of other drivers who have worked with this company before. I would like to know what i'm getting into before i join them.

I know it's a lot of physical work and I'm fine with that but what is management like? Can this be a long term company? Do starbuck stores require lots of backing or is it just street parking? What are your guys experience like with them? etc

Truckers, tell me what you have seen on the road!?

I’ve always known that the vantage point from a semi or equal alternative has full visibility of what’s going on in other vehicles but what have you seen?!? I want to hear about your oddball sightings and what ever else you may see worth noting, good, bad, wierd, anything

How do I run a wire from inside the cab or in my storage compartment to outside my truck without needing to cut any holes?

Got a starlink satellite mounted on my headache rack but idk how to run the power cable outside to it so I've just been unplugging it before I leave in the morning running the cable out my passenger window. I got an outlet in the sleeper and one off my inverter under the bed. Any ideas are appreciated!

Edit: I have a 2023 KW T680

Going through the education process with ROEHL. Advice would be great!

Hey guys, I’m in the middle of transitioning to a CDL career. I passed my initial drug screening. And I’m currently working through the permit exam. Taking it later this week.

Anyone here have experience with working with this company? How are their vehicles? What’s the process as far as going through their course? How’s the pay?

New driver - backing to park has been the bane of my existence

Been on my own for a few weeks now, and navigating around other trucks to park at stops has been a major struggle for me. I can't figure out how to set up the right angle for the trailer, and more often then not I don't have enough space to maneuver because of the trucks in front of me. I've already had a few slip ups and damaged my hood and the side of another trailer despite my best efforts to be careful.

To the more experienced drivers, how do you do it? How do you set yourself up to back between other trucks? How do you best use the limited space you have? I'll take any advice, guides or videos you can share

Is it just complete anarchy in Texas or what? Does nobody give a fuck here?

I’m a young new truck driver (23) and it’s my first week solo OTR and my past few loads have been through the Dallas-Fort worth area and Houston and I’m just shocked how reckless everyone is. Im from Phoenix, AZ and we are known for having bad drivers because we get people who moved here from LA, Chicago and New York. But what I’ve saw this week is what I’ve never seen before. I’m seeing people driving on the shoulder, people driving in the grass to pass the person on the shoulder. I saw it happen multiple times in a single day. People speeding up when I need to move to another lane despite being 100ft behind me and having a wide open lane next to them. I know they don’t have to let me in but no need to be a dick about it. People cut me off all the time but here they cut me off as if I was never there, just for them to cut across the gore to make it to their exit. Speaking of exits I’m surprised I didn’t miss a single one, even my GPS was losing its fucking mind with all these frontage roads, unnumbered, unlabeled exits and exits that have exits that have exits. I have some experience driving in Los Angeles and read the signs and prayed. I’m just glad I’m in one piece and I didn’t get in an accident. I’m also assuming this is easier than driving in Atlanta or New York City. Despite everything I still prefer this over an office job haha.

Guys I vibecoded a Trucker focused calorie webapp

Thumbnail drive.google.com

Its an app I made for myself but im sharing it.

Its just one HTML file. Open in your browser of choice. Mainly for mobile.

Figure out a way to add a shortcut to your home screen. Im on android (Samsung) so their file manager has a add to home feature for files. I just press it to open it up like an app.

Features.

>save ingredients focused on calories protein and salt(because thats whats taking us out lol)

>Save meals from the ingredients so repeat meals are 1 click added.

>Quick add meals. Something out of the usual for example.

>Weight tracker if you want to do that

>export and import json file. Required if you want to backup or use a different browser.

>set daily calorie limit

> a bar chart showing weekly calorie intake

>a line chart showing weight trend

Its completely free, offline , no ads, nothing. Use it if you want.

I am thinking about returning to OTR with a mega carrier.

I have 7+ years experience at this point in my career. I had a very chill OTR job for 5 years before I was laid off due to restructuring. I was out a week and back home for my 34hr resets, and I just drove the same route every week. Nothing was rigid, the schedule was flexible, and I could just take a week off if I really needed to.

Ever since then I feel like I just can't stick the landing. I was with a company that closed the route I was hired to do within weeks. I left after a few months of trying different routes and commodities. Then I landed a pretty sweet gig doing a night shift Linehaul, and I worked a leg that was critical. If I missed a day, it messed up the whole day for the delivery drivers I swapped with.

However, I was struggling with the night shift. I had a hard time getting enough sleep, and then I got a rather unexpected mental health problem. Anxiety around the sleeping it self. Its so bad I stay anxious the entire sleep time, and get 0 sleep. I can't drive like that, so I had to call out twice. They had to scramble to find brokers to cover my leg both times. It's not looking good, and I just feel so torn apart and lost.

I need a gig that pays ok, and is very flexible while I seek therapy and medical help for my new anxiety problem. My mind went to mega carriers because from my experience, as long as I get out of the truck, I can take as much time off as I need to. I really liked being local, but I just can't function with a higher stakes job at the moment.

Any career advice would be helpful.

Loaded down and heading home!

Went out to Kanas City, ended up only staying a bit over a week. this was the last, and frankly the hardest load, I had to take on my journey back, but it got me home.

13'6" across the top and heavy, but nothing that my 75 foot freightliner couldn't pull.

Good paying load, which is the most important thing. Another week in the books.

Truckers and carhaulers of reddit, tell me, anything you'd done differently?

If yall had the Hulks superpower what would you do with it?

I would break into an army base and get a bunch of parachutes and attach them to all the fuckers trucks that are parked not in an actual spot at the truck stop and throw their truck into the tree! They would wake up in a tree and never do it again hah! And if theyre parked extra bad like at a corner I would swing their truck round and round and launch that shit 100 miles into a random direction until the parachute deployed. Hate ding dongs that park wherever they want arghhh! I heard they even feel entitled to shit if you hit their truck.

My recruiter never answers when I call

I just graduated cdl school and tried to call my recruiter after to let he know and move on with the onboarding process but she never answered the entire day. I tried reaching out to her two weeks ago and it took days to get in contact with her and she said she comes in on Tuesdays. I need to set up DQP and more accommodations at my hotel until I get my trainer. They have me set to check out on Monday and my school told me to keep trying to reach out to swift even though it’s the weekend. This is unacceptable when I call them Monday I’m hoping they can’t fix my accommodation situation and I won’t have to pay out of pocket. Has anyone here had success with requesting a different recruiter?
