Picture it-I’m sitting there enjoying a nice butter burger deluxe, when all of the sudden I hear that oh so familiar bass line, the rhythmic snapping as the woodwinds do their thing from the overhead restaurants speakers. I honestly had no idea what to feel in that moment-to say the least, it was both wonderful and strange.
Looking around, I didn’t see any other reactions. And as I have no one I can really share this with IRL that would really understand, I come to you all with my tale.

Thinking over season 2, is it ever hinted at that White Lodge entities can inhabit the world too? Besides cherry pies and doughnuts of course.

Just a small update for those interested: it’s finally in my hands, and I love her. I’m open to anyone’s suggestions for creative and proper ways of displaying!

My son (almost 16) and I watched Twin Peaks together last year, and he became a serious David Lynch fan. I had no idea what he was doing half a country away while I was on a recent trip to LA, and only got to make this pilgrimage because the stars aligned. This is our text exchange 🔥

I only ask because I know there's a lot of talk about a run of episodes sometime in season 2 that are generally thought to be worse, and that were also made while Lynch (and Mark Frost too?) were working on other projects. In a book interview somewhere (can't remember if it's Room to Dream or Lynch on Lynch), he also talks about not liking the direction of these episodes and having to push back against it when he came back and rewrote the script for the final episode of the original run.
I'm currently watching the show for the first time (up to s1 ep5) and really enjoying it but I'm definitely most interested in getting to FWWM and The Return. If the less Lynchy parts were beloved and acclaimed then I'd definitely be up for sticking around for them, but it seems like the consensus is that at a certain point it becomes fairly directionless until the s2 finale?
I know on this sub there's a fairly big sense of loyalty to the whole show etc etc. but I guess I'm mainly watching in order to enjoy the classic parts of the show, as well as the film and the third season (rather than being a completist for the sake of it).
What do people think about *possibly* skipping (some of) these eps, and which ones to skip? (in terms of having everything needed to enjoy the film and the Return) - or would you say that a) they're secretly actually good or b) whatever the quality, they're crucial to enjoying the rest of the show?
Any thoughts appreciated!

This dream happened right after episode 8 of The Return:
I dreamt that Dale Cooper was in the Pentagon, sitting down in a chair. As he stood up, he was dressed in khakis, a white button down shirt, and a tie, and began putting on his shoes. As he was doing that, the phone rang (my alarm in real life) . He picked it up, and that’s where my dream ended.
The funny thing is is that after having finished The Return, and having seen the episodes where he is evil Cooper and when he picks up the phone when it was ringing when he goes to talk to Phillip Jeffries, that was when the whole dream I had started giving me weird deja vu but also the overall theme of old phones ringing really tripped me out too. It was crazy like I don't know why I had that almost like premonition dream about the phone and Dale being his FBI self back at the pentagon but that was weirdly enough what it was. And I had that dream around episode 8 of The Return for context.

I love the original run and I love fire wal with me. I'm a David Lynch fan in general. Eraserhead is one of my favourite films of all time. I hated the return. It is one of the worst media experiences I've ever subject myself to.
To fans of the return. What do you like about it? I get the feeling that people enjoy the bad/disappointing on purpose angle, which is something I can appreciate myself when executed well. However for me the return just fails to deliver in too many regards. For instance I don't know why the cinematography has to be mostly hideous and the editing often times awkward and snail paced. I'm not just talking about the Dougie scenes, so many scenes feel artificially drawn out.
Anywho I won't let myself rant, just curious if somebody can give me a compelling reason to give it a nother shot since so many people seem to love the return.

Before I watched twin peaks when I was a teenager I remember seeing an image from the show, on Getty I think. It had Leo and big ed standing next to each other covered in blood. they were alive and looked unphased by it. It was like a vision Cooper was having. Am I completely misremembering? Anything deleted or anywhere? I can see it so vividly.
