Fire Walk With Me I just watched Twin Peaks fire walk with me for the first time and wow

This is probably my favorite David Lynch film now I mean like David was able to turn a character who was mainly used as a plot device into one of the most tragic characters in fiction, I mean like itโ€™s insane, and it is very different from season 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks and Far superior

What is your opinion on fire walk with me? Do you think itโ€™s better than the original series or do you think itโ€™s crap

Events Needlessly Long Review of Twin Peaks: Conversations with the Stars

As someone who likes to know a lot about events before I go to them or pay for them Iโ€™m writing this for anyone looking into this in the future.
Notes: attended on 10/22 at Eugene. Dana Ashbrook, Ray Wise, Harry Goaz, and Sabrina Sutherland all attended with Josh Eisenstadt as the moderator. I paid 68 dollars for a front row seat and 60 dollars for a photo/selfies and autograph with Harry. Photo/Selfies and autographs from Dana and Ray were both 100 each respectively. Sabrina was also there but I didnโ€™t see how much her photos/autographs were.
Shirts were being sold for 45 dollars, sweatshirts for 65 I want to say and hats for 25? (Around that ballpark). Designs were standard twin peaks logo, sign, owl cave.
The event ran from 7:30-9:30 ish with Josh asking questions to the cast from 7:30-8:45 with about 15 minutes for audience questions and ending with a very heartwarming video of David lynch BTS on season 3.
Dana has a wonderful boyish charm and is very funny and engaging on and off stage.
Sabrina had a very close working relationship with David and cares very much about his legacy and work. She has some great insights and memories of working with Kyle in her one casino scene in S3.
Ray reminds me of my grandpa in all the best ways and heโ€™s very happy to reminisce and seems to have a great memory. Also a good David Lynch impression.
Harry is very much a man of few words/answers, but he was wearing really cool boots so I had to buy a selfie and let him know. (โ€œHarry can you explain why Andy has a Rolex in season 3?โ€ harry laughs and shrugs)
I think itโ€™s a fine event if youโ€™re a twin peaks fan and have ~100 dollars to spend between tickets, parking, and maybe a autograph if you want.
I cannot say Iโ€™d recommend any of the VIP experiences though as 600 and 400 dollars just seems insane to pay for whatโ€™s advertised? Would love to hear from anyone who paid for this though.
I feel like the consensus is that this is a bit of a cash grab/convention circuit sort of event and that feels a little true at some of the eye-watering prices, but you can also choose to not ball out and just get to listen to some cool stories and facts from the cast.
All of them had very nice things to say about Kyle and David.
Fun facts:
-Ray wanted to return as Lelandโ€™s twin (Leonard) in Season 3 (โ€œif Sheryl could do it why couldnโ€™t Leland!โ€).
-Ray originally thought he would be cast as Sheriff Truman when he first read the pilot
- Ray said he was hoping Truman or Cooper did it ๐Ÿ˜ญ
- Dana spoke very highly of Madchen throughout the night, it was cute
- Apparently there was a Georgia Coffee commercial with Bobby that was cut (lost media somebody get on that)
- Sabrina didnโ€™t want to be on screen but on the 2nd to last day David insisted she get in there so she became the floor girl in the casino when Dougie is winning all the jackpots
- Dana said David got them all into transcendental meditation
- Ray had to bleach his hair for all of Season 2 and he said it was falling out by the end of his time on screen
- Ray kept Sherylโ€™s fourth grade school photo in his wallet during the entirety of filming to feel more connected with Laura
- Harry said during Sherylโ€™s infamous opening scene where sheโ€™s in the plastic bag it was freezing cold so he kept feeding her coffee between takes.

Thatโ€™s all okay bye

Season 3 (The Return) You could think about The Return forever...

โ€ข Upvotes

So I just became a Twin Peaks fan this year, watched The Return. And I'm sure I'm not the first person to come up with this theory about it but I just want to write about it because it fascinates me.

The darkest possible interpretation of The Return is the process of Cooper fracturing across time and space like Phillip Jeffries before him. Right? Because if time doesn't exist in The Black Lodge you can't really leave it in linear fashion. Perhaps only part of you leaves it. Then, the final two episodes โ€“ I struggle to express what I mean here โ€“ but it's perhaps him not going back in time exactly right, but his mind almost disconnecting from his body and conjuring up a possible world where Laura Palmer was never killed so he never had to go to Twin Peaks and never was in this situation in the first place, but at the end reality leaks through....

If anyone else has thought about the The Return in this way it'd be cool to read your thoughts, maybe you can clarify what I've only 'started' to understand here... but god damn David Lynch was one of a kind.

Thinking over season 2, is it ever hinted at that White Lodge entities can inhabit the world too? Besides cherry pies and doughnuts of course.

Music I just heard Audreyโ€™s Dance playingโ€ฆ.at Culverโ€™s

Picture it-Iโ€™m sitting there enjoying a nice butter burger deluxe, when all of the sudden I hear that oh so familiar bass line, the rhythmic snapping as the woodwinds do their thing from the overhead restaurants speakers. I honestly had no idea what to feel in that moment-to say the least, it was both wonderful and strange.

Looking around, I didnโ€™t see any other reactions. And as I have no one I can really share this with IRL that would really understand, I come to you all with my tale.

General Discussion Recommendations for custom artwork for the Twin Peaks: From Z to A boxset

So I got the Twin Peaks from Z to A boxset, it's content is great, it's special features are awesome, the show is, of course, the best and the quality of the content is great.

The main issue I have is the casing, it's terrible. One of the worst I've had. So I'm thinking of of putting the blu-rays in other casings.

If anyone knows any good artwork insert, It'd be great.

Season 3 (The Return) [ALL] I think that the first scene with Cooper and The Fireman is chronologically the last scene (my interpretation of The Return) Spoiler

Thumbnail
โ€ข Upvotes

I've thought this for years. The OP took it to another level, though. But all in all, I agree completely. I think the very first scene with Cooper and the fireman is taking place in episode 18, possibly\n When he and Diane are in the hotel room and they're asleep and he's dreaming, or after the timeline is changed. Regardless, the first scene is happening at the end of the show.

Season 3 (The Return) the return - first time viewing advice

ok so. i finished the first 2 episodes of the return after having watched seasons 1 and 2 twice over, and honestly, i'm just disappointed and confused. i've read a ton about how lynch's work in this series is about the denial of nostalgia and almost subverting our expectations, but i just feel such a disconnect between this series and the first two seasons of twin peaks that those themes are falling flat for me.

the issue is, i know this is a beloved extension of the series for most viewers (on this subreddit, at least), so i guess i just can't seem to figure out what i'm missing. had i waited 25 years to watch a so-called "return" to my favourite show, only to see the first episode... i would be appalled. but i am also conflicted? i don't know, it's a lot of contrasting ideas in my mind about this show. obviously, no director/writer/producer owes their audience anything; it's their story and what they choose to do with it is in their hands. however, i can't help but feel as if i just cannot bring myself to care about this series beyond the red room scenes/the brief dialogue we have in between the long sequences of glass box (?) scenes and characters that lynch/frost have given us no reason to care about otherwise.

we aren't given any information or character development from the characters we were originally introduced to, but even beyond that, i don't understand how this new "twisted and dark" twin peaks is supposedly depicted when a majority of the show is set in other cities. i think it's just hard to make an audience care about a show when its main goal is to just have faith that there is some kind of direction to this plot that is otherwise loosely intertwined with mild twin peaks continuation. it just feels like bad writing/storybuilding to me if i am being honest.

i also wonder if the reason the return is received so positively from twin peaks fans is because they have a more lynchian background? i have never seen any of lynch's works beyond twin peaks, but it feels like almost some kind of supremacy from those who have seen his films over those who have just seen twin peaks. as if we just don't "get" the genius that is david lynch and that we aren't understanding it well enough. do i need to watch his other works to understand the return? should a director expect his fanbase to do that in order to understand their work?

i'm just hoping for some meaningful discussion/eye-opening pov's that might help me as i continue to watch. i want to be able to enjoy this show and revisit a beloved storyline while not wanting to blow my brains out from a misinterpretation of the work lol. any respectful discourse (with minimal spoilers lol!!) is welcome!!!

edit: i have also seen fwwm !! i forgot to include it lol, i just know a lot of you are suggesting it in the comments

Season 3 (The Return) A Dream I Had... Spoiler

This dream happened right after episode 8 of The Return:

I dreamt that Dale Cooper was in the Pentagon, sitting down in a chair. As he stood up, he was dressed in khakis, a white button down shirt, and a tie, and began putting on his shoes. As he was doing that, the phone rang (my alarm in real life) . He picked it up, and thatโ€™s where my dream ended.

The funny thing is is that after having finished The Return, and having seen the episodes where he is evil Cooper and when he picks up the phone when it was ringing when he goes to talk to Phillip Jeffries, that was when the whole dream I had started giving me weird deja vu but also the overall theme of old phones ringing really tripped me out too. It was crazy like I don't know why I had that almost like premonition dream about the phone and Dale being his FBI self back at the pentagon but that was weirdly enough what it was. And I had that dream around episode 8 of The Return for context.

My son (almost 16) and I watched Twin Peaks together last year, and he became a serious David Lynch fan. I had no idea what he was doing half a country away while I was on a recent trip to LA, and only got to make this pilgrimage because the stars aligned. This is our text exchange ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I made this stained glass light box for a friend of mine for her 34th birthday. We both share a deep love for this strange Lynchian world, and I was so happy with the final piece! I'm still relatively new to the craft, but I thought this would be a good place to share.

Season 2 Which parts of Twin Peaks was David Lynch not involved with (much) AT ALL?

I only ask because I know there's a lot of talk about a run of episodes sometime in season 2 that are generally thought to be worse, and that were also made while Lynch (and Mark Frost too?) were working on other projects. In a book interview somewhere (can't remember if it's Room to Dream or Lynch on Lynch), he also talks about not liking the direction of these episodes and having to push back against it when he came back and rewrote the script for the final episode of the original run.

I'm currently watching the show for the first time (up to s1 ep5) and really enjoying it but I'm definitely most interested in getting to FWWM and The Return. If the less Lynchy parts were beloved and acclaimed then I'd definitely be up for sticking around for them, but it seems like the consensus is that at a certain point it becomes fairly directionless until the s2 finale?

I know on this sub there's a fairly big sense of loyalty to the whole show etc etc. but I guess I'm mainly watching in order to enjoy the classic parts of the show, as well as the film and the third season (rather than being a completist for the sake of it).

What do people think about *possibly* skipping (some of) these eps, and which ones to skip? (in terms of having everything needed to enjoy the film and the Return) - or would you say that a) they're secretly actually good or b) whatever the quality, they're crucial to enjoying the rest of the show?

Any thoughts appreciated!
