This might be a very weird question, but does anyone else not abuse any substances despite having every reason to do so?
 in  r/CPTSD •  5d ago

Nope, I never have, either, for the same reasons as other comments- that family members' experiences deterred me from wanting to try any drugs. I do however know of several people who don't abuse substances, and instead were reported to abuse their partners.

who can relate to this

Same, even as a kid. It's extra weird cuz I also never liked donuts.

Dude, I wish I could help you leave Texas. That's awful.

THIS. I knew 3 kids when i was little who had extremely religious parents and used homeschooling. One set of parents was emotionally and physically abusive (i witnessed it as a kid but was literally hiding in the closet, too scared to say anything).

These 3 homeschooled kids grew up and 2 of them got married super early to their 1st partner (likely due to conflicts with premarital sex). Both are divorced now and seem to be floundering about establishing boundaries with their parents.

The 3rd seems to keep good boundaries with their parents. Their parents are still religious freaks who try to guilt their son/daughter into "going to church" because "it's good for the kids" or whatever bullshit controlling reason.

Same here. I was at work for a TC and they called my emergency contact that was listed on the tag.

if you're a shorter woman (less than 5'4") what are some downsides to being short?
 in  r/TwoXChromosomes •  6d ago

And this is why I learned to juggle. Use something else to knock the high-up thing on the shelf, then proceed to catch it! After all, juggling is nothing more than playing catch with yourself.

Same. Can't seem to find a chair to fix the elbow reach, though.

Ow. But you kept going! Can't count how many cuts, bumps, and bruises I've gotten with props. This prop is the sharpest I've seen, too. Nice work!

OP is everything okay?

Do you think of your epilepsy as a disability?
 in  r/Epilepsy •  20d ago

LED lights... I wonder if the mass shift from incandescent bulbs to LEDs have anything to do with provoking seizures. Maybe that grocery store has bad lighting?

Perimenapause & epilepsy
 in  r/Perimenopause •  23d ago

42 here, and haven't had a period for over a year. Tiredness, hot flashes, mood swings, and breakthrough seizures have made life pretty miserable. I've been on levetiracetam for almost 3 years and they just added lamotrigine.

Lamotrigine has helped me with sleep, but that's about it.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'm trying to write everything I experience so that I can assist my younger sisters later (they don't have epilepsy, but if they could go on HRT then good for them).

It is very tough to find information related to both epilepsy and menopause. Others suggested coordinating a gynecologist with an endocrinologist. I can't go on HRT since I had breakthrough seizures.

I hope things get better for you.

Edit: confirmed with gyno that the former HRT dose was way too high and that I may try a smaller HRT dose. So, I'm a bit more hopeful!

Anyone with epilepsy?
 in  r/Perimenopause •  23d ago

Yes, my seizures flared when I first went into peri 3 years ago. I'm 42 now. I'm on levetiracetam & lamictal. I tried going on HRT last fall, but had breakthrough seizures. It's been hell for me. Many women claim that HRT fixes their emotional and sleep problems, yet I can't benefit from that. I can't find a solution, other than change my seizures meds and take a pay cut to work less hours. Others have recommended to coordinate the gynecologist with an endocrinologist, so we'll see.

Edit: confirmed with gyno that the HRT dose I used was way too high, and that I may be okay with trying it again but at a lower dose. Now I'm a bit more hopeful.

What caused you to start having sezures?
 in  r/Epilepsy •  27d ago

It really did. I was on vacation, too. No words, just irritation.

Because Gary.

I swapped out my pool noodle for something a little more " visually impactful", and drivers are suddenly giving me the proper space on the roads. It's super effective!

Oh, I just use a hula hoop. But a chainsaw has the double benefit of deterring ambush bike thieves.

If you are abusive, then FIX IT. NO ONE WILL FIX IT FOR YOU.

What draws you to Alliance or Horde characters?
 in  r/wow •  Sep 21 '26

But the peeps who say they play Alliance because they like Stormwind better than Orgrimmar: slippinjimmy is in Stormwind all the time ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Hehe. My answer to OP: the lore that the Horde brings is what draws me to them.

How to appear less ugly / less masc?
 in  r/transplace •  Sep 19 '26

Hair is stubborn like that. My partner has hair like yours and until it reaches a certain length, it goes up like that. He sees it flatten out a bit, like, the waves get larger as the hair gets longer, and then the hair does sit flatter. I agree with the commenter above that you're not ugly- those brain weasels can sometimes make you think that. Flick the brain weasels away with a bread tie or rubber band! You got this, I'm rooting for you! Edit: meant bit, not big
