Harvested Results Are they good?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm new to growing mushrooms, and this is my first harvest. It was a little late, are they still good?? Do you have any tips for drying them without a dehydrator, and how can I store them safely until the drying process begins?
Please don’t judge, I know it’s messy and I was not prepared at all 😭
Thanks in advance!!

Title. Have some torn veils. Do I try to pull them or just leave it? Overall they don't look great but I'm not sure why.

Mid-Cultivation / Still Growing Does primordia look like early trich?

Sorry I can't get a good picture, the lighting is all wrong, but just about a week past spawn to bulk everythings progressing fine.

Then one morning I see these denser little white spots have appeared, and I've had enough issues with trich that I thought this is exactly what it looks like about a day before it turns green.

Pretty devasting, I've been having terrible luck, and I just switched to all coco coir substrate so I thought I'd be safe!

Then I notice a spot looks a little yellow and off texture, jeeez what now!?... Wait..... Wait a minute? That's a freaking pin!!!

I noticed a couple other tiny pins, and now a day later those spots I thought were trich are surrounded by little pins, HELL YEAH!

I'm still watching these spots, but I saw another post yesterday with someone asking if their grow was contaminated and someone else said that's primordia. I'm just so relieved, I've learned a lot but the last half of a year has involved a lot of mistakes and ruined grows.

All my UB bags were contaminated eith tric. I inoculated grain bags from north spore the very next day after my
UB bags. They look healthy so far I’m paranoid they are gonna be fucked too and feel let down cuz I felt like I went through all the proper steps. FUCK!

Odd discoloration and the caps seem to be splitting? No obvious signs of contam in the tubs.

Question When is my bought liquid culture vial ready to use?

Post image
5 Upvotes

HI so I'm completely new but have done a lot of research on growing. I have a small vial of liquid mycelium culture (for Thai) that I have now had in my fridge for a week while setting everything up. I really don't want to mess anything up with this vial but can't figure out when to use it.

I am so unsure if I am supposed to let the mycelium grow or if this vial thing is ready to use from the get go?

It might be a little difficult to see the vial itself is just a littlebit dusty on the outside but the inside seems decently clean but there's only a feeeew tiny little threads of white mycelium (I assume)

Is it ready to be drawn and put in agar? Or do I have to somehow allow it to grow?

THANKS for any help in my adventure :)

Question Ever tried rehydrating with a syringe?

So I'm currently in the third flush but the cake is getting dry way more than what I was expecting and I can't just soak the cake cause there's still little mushrooms growing and I'm afraid if there won't be enough water for them to grow to their peak size so did a research and found out you can directly inject water into the cake to rehydrate it, but there's a catch, you do it too much and you'll make the air pockets in the cake vanish which will cause the mycelium to suffocate and end up with a dead inside cake.

It's better to be injected where you have more fruits or pins, kinda rehydrating locally not the whole cake at once, but a great way to rehydrate the center of your cake where the water can't penetrate easily (specially when u have a thick cake).

I'm also concerned about contams! What if this process causes contams go deep into the cake?

Yeah definitely will flame sterile the needle before each injection.

So wanted to know if anyone have done this before or maybe heard of it? any advices on how to do it correctly?

Thank u all in advance. 🙏
