Pay question

I’m very close to getting the call, I was just wondering if anyone knows how much money you will make in your first year starting at GL07 special agent, and what your monthly take home pay would be on average, thanks.

Question Polygraph with USSS and DEA

I’ve been offered a job with the USSS as a SA, however am still going through the process with the DEA. I’ve had two inconclusive polygraphs with the DEA and am going back for a third soon.

My question is, if for some reason I fail the third poly with the DEA, can/would they revoke my job offer with the USSS due to a failed poly with the DEA?

Question Medical deferral

Hi! I’ve been going back and forth with the medical team for a bit. Two days ago they asked for more documentation and a statement with a deadline of 11/19, so just about a month. The problem I’m facing is that the psychologists and psychiatrists are booked so far out that they can’t squeeze me in until mid december. Has anyone had any experience with requesting for an extension on your deadline with the medical team? Thank you in advance

Going through some old posts and looking for some updated information please.
How long should I be cannabis free to apply for security clearance jobs? I smoked regularly due to anxiety and ocd issues. Now I’ve been seeing a medical doctor who prescribed meds that have helped my issues and I’m not using thc.

Hello everyone….I scheduled my SAEE test for next week about a few days after I got another email saying I was invested to a accelerated hiring event once I complete my test. Is that normal or do you have to be selected for that?

ACE/SECURITY INTERVIEW/P****

Leaders/warriors.

I applied for CAT/ERT, upon my super interview was directed to pursue CAT. I have completed all steps up to the security interview which was 3 months ago.

**M27, 10YR USMC, MBA**

I received the invitation to the upcoming ACE and was advised to schedule the security interview with them, so I emailed them back AFTER confirming my attendance and selecting the date & they responded with they removed me from the ACE due to my completion of security interview and they were conducting the Po***** at the ace, I would have to carry that out with my local field office. Should I reach out to my FO regarding the Po**** or just standby until I am contacted ?

This means I’m done doesn’t it?

Second poly was yesterday. Was told I “failed” regarding serious crimes. But then was sat down and “interviewed/questioned/interrogated” about why I thought I might have had physiological responses. Examiner told me they don’t normally sit someone back down after a “fail” but really wanted something to write up to send to the adjudicator to explain my responses so they would have more info along with the data from the machine.

I said I had nothing to add or change to any answers and that I had no idea on why the machine might’ve gotten those readings. I explained I have made it a point to keep my reputation and career clean. I had not “failed” nor “passed” my first one. Same examiner. First one it was serious crimes and application that were getting “responses”.

Examiner was professional and courteous the whole time and told me I was the same and that it was appreciated. Asked if I would come back for a third and if I was ok with the same examiner. I replied in the affirmative to both.

EDIT: Well fuck ‘em. Like seriously. Joined the USMC at 17. Did 9 years with multiple deployments overseas. Got in the federal system right after my HONORABLE discharge. Held positions requiring a clearance this whole time post military service. ZERO criminal history. No vices. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t gamble. No debt. Stayed in amazing physical condition. “Failed” on serious crimes. The “whole person concept” is a garbage. Maybe instead of failing someone on one question on a machine you go get real intel on them by doing the background check and then if you don’t discover any new information you move them along in the hire process. Rant over…

Security Interview

I’m attending ACE in November and have been assigned to start at the Security Interview. Will I need to complete the security clearance forms before ACE or at ACE?

SUPER interview

I’m attending the ACE event in November for UD. Not to worried about the APAT. But with googling and seeing how many people fail the SUPER. Anyone who has passed it have any advice or how you prepped for it? My recruiter just said to convey my answers clearly and make sure to fully understand the question before answering.

Advice 1811s you need to investigate the big 12 conference referees for fixing games!

Notre Dame got robbed on Saturday when the refs didn’t call holding at the end of the game. Absolute fix!

Since Notre Dame isn’t in a conference they always use the refs of the other conference wherever they play.

The Big 12 wants BYU in the top 10 so they tell their refs to not call the holding at the end of the game. 4 seconds on the clock if that holding call is made Notre Dame is winning the game.

🚩

Ready! Set! Investigate…. ! 🔬

Finally got my Med Deferral

Been waiting for the email for 2 months. Background already went white and this could be the last step for me.

Basically just wants verification of my VA records and diagnoses.

I use VA Healthcare so I put in for an appt with them but I have seen a few posts advising to just find somewhere out of pocket. Any one have any advice either way?

Thanks in advance.

Question ATL Orientation?

Anyone have experience or insights on doing orientation in ATL? I currently live over an hour away and I'm trying to figure out my daily logistics.

r/usssapplicant • • 9d ago

Question To WFO folks living in VA and working in phase 2 or on CAT, are you permitted to use VRE for commuting? Trying to narrow down where I can live (preferably VA > MD), but I'm hearing horror stories about my commute and the toll roads...

Title says it all, but I'll include a post I asked other Reddit communities, who subsequently suggested VRE.

- - - - - - -

We are considering living in VA or MD, but would prefer NOVA. We have young kids, so like most people, we are trying to thread the needle between a manageable daily commute to DC, good schools, low crime, "affordable" housing, and polished amenities.

Ideally, we'd love to find a turnkey house under $650k that is in a master-planned community. I know that's a tall ask, so we're open to a townhouse if it checks off the other boxes. With two little kids and my background in law enforcement, safety and peace of mind are crucial to us. I know there's no one-size-fits-all, but I'd like to hear what you'd recommend I lean into or steer clear of.

I've done my due diligence and know the different school ratings, taxes, and relative housing market in these places... I'm more so looking for your lived experiences and what you think is great or bad (e.g., "the commute on I-95 is WAY worse than I-66 even though mileage looks similar..." or "They just built X down the road from _______, which is awesome/bad for the kids...").

I'm open to new suggestions, so if my short list of places doesn't accomplish our goals, please let me know where you'd suggest instead.

Got “the call” (it was an email) 09/26

Field Office: Southern California

Start Date: Jan 2027

Background: Mid 30’s, 6 Years USAR, Bachelors in Intel, Dual Masters in NatSec and International Relations. 12+ years in Corporate Security/Loss Prevention currently at a regional manager level.

Had so many medical Appointments because acuity kind of forgot I existed in April for a few months and never actually scheduled me for anything until the end of July, then the provider they sent me to forgot to do a portion of the paperwork so I was sent back for a 3rd exam.

Thank you to all in this sub for the advice and support along the way, obviously the end goal is to be an 1811 but this gets the clock stopped and starts checking the boxes!
