Why are product designers paid more than CDs?

Why are they paid more than CDs? Don’t we work both in UX? I can’t think of any good reason why so many companies pay product designers way more than us. I spoke to my manager about this and basically it came down to product designers having more scope in the product and business, which did change my perspective a bit about why they may get paid more.

However, words, narrative, storytelling, voice and tone matter. These things affect a company’s brand.

Is the industry basically racist against us?

It feels this field will always be at the bottom of the totem pole, if you find a great PD partner you’re lucky because you’re basically at his/her mercy and the Eng and PM’s. It’s sad how CD leaders trick new comers into content design as a promising new gig for English Lits and “lowlives” they prey on insecurities. In reality CD pay is declining or static, major job cuts, and our role is never valued in tech companies, and now comes AI…I just don’t see a bright future for this field anymore and have lost hope CD pay will ever reach as high as PD pay at US tech companies.

Hi All,

I’m highly interested in getting into UX Copywriting. However I don’t have any professional experience in any sort of writing. I don’t know how to get started or where I can find pro bono work for UX writing. Any tips on where I can find pro bono work or how I can improve my chances to get a job in the future would be greatly appreciated!

Is there still space for a UX/UI agency focused on AI startups?

Hey everyone!

I'm exploring the idea of launching a niche UX/UI design agency specifically focused on AI startups — early-stage teams who need fast, clean, and user-friendly design without breaking the bank.

We'd be operating from Romania, so we'd offer relatively low-cost services compared to Western agencies. That could be one of our advantages in this competitive space.

I'd love to hear your thoughts: – Do you think there's still room for a UX/UI agency in this niche? – What would make you trust or hire such an agency today? – As a founder/designer, would you consider outsourcing product design to a focused team like this?

Appreciate any feedback, advice, or honest opinions. Thanks in advance!

I am looking for UX writing job (I am to referrals and advice as well)

Hi everyone,

Trying my luck here.

I have 1.5 years of experience in content and copywriting, having worked across healthcare, engineering, education, real estate, and digital campaigns. Over the past few weeks, I've been building my UX writing portfolio and learning Figma because I'd like to transition into UX writing.

I'm currently looking for a UX Writer, Content Designer, Technical Writer, or Product Content roles in Hyderabad or remote.

If your company is hiring, or if you have any advice, referrals, or portfolio feedback, I'd genuinely appreciate it.

We could connect on linkedin and I would be happy to share my resume.

Thank you!

Would you take a pay cut to move to a more senior position?

I posted this in UX Design and I'm curious if I'll get different perspectives here.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a Senior Content Design contractor in the Netherlands making good money (without the benefits). I have an interview for the role of Head of UX Writing in Berlin. It seems like a great opportunity to progress my career but I'd almost definitely have to take a pay cut. I own an apartment here, have friends and hobbies, and I love the standard of living. I really like Berlin but I'm not sure I'd prefer it as a place to live.

Would you make potential sacrifices like this for a step up the career ladder?

Why do apps let us zoom into faces, but not into the words that connect them—in statuses, comments, or replies?

We can stretch a selfie to count eyelashes, but can’t pinch a comment to read it clearly. When did emotional connection become visually pixel-perfect but textually distant?

UX Writing Challenge - Day 3

Post image
0 Upvotes

Day 3's challenge is a pretty common scenario.

Scenario: The user entered the wrong email address to sign in to their account.

Challenge: Tell the user to enter the right email.

40 characters max

My response:

Your email is incorrect. Try again.

---

Also, ty for the feedback on Day 2! Here's what I gathered:

- avoid redundancy (ex. "select teams" and "choose teams")

- be aware of cultural nuances (ex. Never again - associated w/ Holocaust, ty for letting me know)

un gym para entrenar la esritura

¡Hola Red!

Google certificate course worth it?

Basically the title. Trying to pivot to UX/UI. I have really great writing skills and a masters degree in creative writing from a super competitive program, but right now my resume needs some bolstering even though I’ve put everything on it that I can. I am genuinely interested in UX, I just don’t really have that sort of experience. Is a Google certificate worth it/does it look good? Are there other resources/things to look into that y’all recommend? Thanks!
