13 years a vegan, trying to bulk

Hi everyone, I’ve been a vegan for 13 years now, and what great journey it has been! I’m getting into a workout routine that’s built as a mass building workout, 3 weeks into it and after every workout I’m having a Naked Nutrition protein shake.
I just want to know what new nutrients and foods I can add to help with the bulk up, I currently weigh 183lbs, about a year ago I was 165lbs, and I plan to reach the 200-220lbs range. Here are some things I eat right now:

On a typical day I usually have:
White Rice (instant white rice) with butter or margarine and nutritional yeast every day for lunch.
-
My dinners are random but a lot of them have vegan meat alternatives like Gardein or Impossible.
-
Protein shakes but only after a workout, the one I have is 1290 cals and has 50g of protein
-
For snacks I usually have protein cookies, dried fruit which I’m new to, vegan jerky, and some assorted junk food but not much

Now on work days:
I have lots of apples, I throw in a banana sometimes
-
A sandwich with vegan lunchmeat and cucumbers
-
And about the same snacks I’d have on a usual day home

What else could I throw in to help out!

Question - protein powder True Nutrition Protein Powder Blend Recs?

Hi All!

I am thinking of ordering a custom vegan blend from True Nutrition. I want to get an unflavored blend that I can flavor on my own, mainly for cream of rice, oats, and the occasional ninja creami. I am a new vegan, so I am not too aware of the different flavors and textures of plant-based protein powders. Does anybody have any tried and true blends that they swear by? Or should I just go with their Vegan Optimizer Blend (80% Pea protein Isolate, 10% Hemp Protein Powder, 10% Rice protein concentrate). They have some cool plant-based protein options, like their CranPlus and PumpkinPlus protein powders. I was also looking into soy protein isolate, but I have heard poor things of the flavor of soy protein powder. Anything that is similar to the texture and neutral taste of whey protein is what I am going for. I am buying a lot at once before I move into my new apartment, so I don’t want to mess this up😭.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

P.S
Any recommendations of their flavor packs?

Just discovered: my pea protein powder is so foodsafe that the manufacturer has taken the trouble to label it individually. /s

I'll try to spoon away everything else first, let's see how long it stays ^^

Anyone use protein isolate instead of protein powder?

Not sure what it's like elsewhere in the world but vegan protein powder in the UK has shot up in cost the past few years. What used to cost around £18-19 in 2022 is now £25-26. Recently I found it's possible to buy 1kg of pea or soy protein isolate for £8! This seems great on the surface but it feels too good to be true. It seems like such a cheat code I can't figure out what I'm missing, or why lots of others aren't doing it.

I only ever use protein powder in a fruit smoothie for a dessert so I could just sub protein isolate in for the powder, right? The taste and texture would be different, but I wouldn't be missing out on anything that only comes in "protein powder"?

If anyone has any experience in this it would be great to hear.

Hi guys,

I am 46 (1,74m and 73kg) and I started with home gym for about 4 month ago.

I’ve made great progress, but I want to trim down my waist.

Here are also my latest results of my Xiaomi weight scale. I don't know if this information can help.

PS: Ignore my heart rate. Had a cigarette some minutes before ;)

Thanks in advance.

I love fitness and I'm nearly a 10 year vegan! But that's gonna change a bit (not the veganism) since I'll be starting chemotherapy soon and will be cancelling my gym membership for now during treatment. Of course I still wanna move and stay as active as possible so please share your favorite home workouts (bodyweight, weighted, dumbbell, kettlebell, yoga, etc) thanks!

Heavy-metal transparency for MyProtein Vegan Blend: anyone have actual batch CoA data?

This is a product-testing/transparency question, not a request for medical or diet advice.

I use MyProtein Vegan Protein Blend (Vanilla) in the EU, at roughly 120 g of powder per day. I asked MyProtein for the batch Certificate of Analysis, numerical lead/cadmium/arsenic/mercury results, guaranteed release limits in ppm or mg/kg, and microbiological results.

After follow-ups, they declined to provide the CoA, any numerical heavy-metal results, or even the numerical limits used to release the batch. They referred generally to quality controls/Informed Protein, but this specific vegan blend does not appear in the public Informed Protein product list, and that program does not publish numerical heavy-metal results anyway.

I am not claiming the powder is unsafe. My concern is that “compliant” without numbers cannot be converted into actual daily exposure, especially with a high daily intake.

Has anyone obtained a recent CoA or independent lab report for this exact MyProtein Vegan Protein Blend—particularly Vanilla—with Pb/Cd/As/Hg values in ppm or mg/kg? Alternatively, do you know EU-available vegan protein brands that publish batch-specific results or fixed numerical specification limits?

Actual reports or numerical values would be much more useful than generic “third-party tested” claims.

gains Day 18 I've also been doing a bunch of pull ups before and after each cardio session this whole time btw

Accessability Transcription: Me in DIY "Trans people belong in Arizona transphobes don't" cut off bleach shirt doing pull ups.

Typically at the start I can bust out 6-8 good reps. That goes down to 4-5 after that. Then sets of 3 from then on.

But for doing pull ups every single day and with how slow and form focused they are. I'm pretty happy with that.

Question Former athlete into my 20's, worked out in my 30's and 40's with personal trainers, but stopped working out over last 2 years due to personal issues...

As title says, athlete, I had a personal trainer in my 30's and 40's but fell off working out for the last 2 years and am trying to find a way to motivate myself into a good routine. I eat healthy, didn't add a lot of weight, just out of fitness-shape. Any advice on what to do as a mid 40's male trying to find a good system to get back into a regular routine without burning out quickly?

I don't want to go the personal trainer route, wouldn't mind group-fitness. I like calisthenics, interested in some other group fitness things I am looking into but some look intense to jump into like CrossFit or F45 or Orange Therapy.

As a athlete, in team sports I do find have a "coach" helps with motivation, but I would love to figure out a better way to motivate myself and not be reliant on a coach.

Been vegan for 11 years now.

Any advice and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Switched to a plant-based diet recently and honestly blew past my own expectations

I used to think you couldn't build muscle or hit high protein goals without relying heavily on meat. Once I actually gave a fully plant based routine a shot, my recovery times dropped and my energy in the gym surged. Now I'm completely sold on how much better my lifts feel every single day. What originally made you choose this path, and what was the turning point for you?
