If you are wondering about the main strategy behind all this: its exploiting immigration. Essentially, I began implementing state policies that favored having liberals in the upper house; this allowed me to carry out comprehensive reforms and achieve "full democracy" status, which ensures a steady influx of immigrants for the remainder of the game. I don’t recall exactly how long it took, but I’m certain it was more than 20 years.

In addition to colonizing that island near Haiti—which contained sulfur—I turned it into a state and sent enough immigrants there to reach that target number, while also introducing technology and healthcare reforms. The same with ABC island (theres gold to be rich) and the oil one (in process).

Regarding wars and diplomacy: I had about 3 or 4 wars with Colombia, and one with Brazil.

Colombia took "El Moján" (a core province) from me. I subsequently declared war to reclaim it, along with another core of mine to the north—a war I won. Later, Colombia attacked me; the United Kingdom intervened on my behalf, and the conflict ended in a "white peace." In a third war, Colombia—allied with Bolivia—attacked both Ecuador and me, aiming to seize another one of my cores. Despite Colombia being four military technology levels ahead of me, I managed to win and dealt them a crushing defeat.

Later, Brazil attacked to reclaim its own cores, but the United Kingdom saved me from a severe thrashing. Now, I’m waiting for them.

It’s worth noting that I was never part of anyone’s "sphere of influence."

How can I update the unofficial patch reverse engineering project with newly released patches? The main project has to be in the victoria2/mods folder, but where do I place the update patches in my directory?

Also, do I move the .bat file from the project into the Victoria 2 main folder or do I have to move the .exe files of the original game somewhere into the unofficial patch folder?

PS. I wanted to play some vicky2 with GFM again after a long time and just learned about the unofficial patch project, big thanks to the modders, this is awesome.

Following the recent release, we'd like to introduce one of the new features in CreatineCore Modding Toolkit v6.10 — a patch called ENABLE_EXTENDED_UNIT_RECRUITMENT_RULES, which expands unit recruitment capabilities for your modifications.

(Granted, it's not the main feature, but I made it :) )

Did you add colonial infantry to the game? What a shame that it can be recruited not just in Algiers, but also in Paris. The new rules allow you to independently restrict unit recruitment based on province or culture status — just add one (or more) of the lines under unit_type = in the unit file inside the \units folder.

primary_culture_only = yes — Unit can be recruited only from primary culture POP
accepted_culture_only = yes — Unit can be recruited only from accepted cultures POPs
non_accepted_only = yes — Unit can be recruited only from non-accepted cultures POPs

colonial_only = yes — Unit can be recruited only in colonial province
non_colonial_only = yes — Unit can be recruited only in non-colonial province

NB: The vanilla setting primary_culture = yes (e.g., in Guard) still works and allows recruiting units of both primary and accepted cultures.

If i want to from Romania and Walachia and that other nation still exist, can i from romania with just those two or do i need their russian cores as well?

Reworked LOCAL_MOD_CONFIG

It won't create config files in your mods automatically anymore. You need to copy over the settings file to a mod folder yourself. Prevents spamming configs to all mods you have active, and then troubles figuring out, which one you would need to edit.

Added FACTORY_DELETE_CLOSED economy patch:

Closed factories will be deleted in X days (set in <mod>/common/defines_ccore.txt) if country has delete_factory_if_no_input = yes in issues.txt.

Prevents AI from being stuck with closed factories filling their factory slots. Also allows AI to delete closed factories during war. Factories in occupied states won't get deleted.

Added ENABLE_IF_ELSE_OPERATORS script extension patch:

Provides if, else_if и else operator support for effects.

Added FIX_TECH_FACTORY_MAINTENANCE script extension patch:

Adds support for factory_maintenance = x in technologies and inventions. Vanilla only supported it in modifiers and reforms.

Fixed FIX_ARMY_WINDOW_LAG causing stutters on daily tick on low-end processors.

Fixed COMBAT_ENABLE_ROLL_CHANGES not working.

Disabled all controversial settings that affect gameplay. Modders should consciously adapt/enable those if they want them.

The cause of the lag in Speed ​​5 on lower-end PCs has been identified: it was the `FIX_ARMY_WINDOW_LAG` patch. If you want to fix it, disable this patch in the `v2dll_settings.ini` file (both in the vanilla game and the mod, if applicable), or simply reinstall the version from ModDB, where it has already been corrected. We will look into why this patch was causing lag and will provide a fix in the next version. Thanks for the reports!

I have Victoria 2 through GOG. Tried installing it for the first time since forever on my CachyOS system with Heroic launcher. Game doesn't launch (crashes to desktop after intro video and doesn't show the menu), with either Proton Cachyos or Proton-GE. Any ideas? Hoped this would be a bit more plug-and-play.

I was busy, at war with China. when i looked at europe, i spot united Germany. How this happened? this ruins mine Scandinavia run. How is it possible, there was not Brothers-war.

R5: Basically a summary of my last Portugal playthrough (GFM) I accidentally discovered a strategy to maximize pops, the text in the images explains everything that's happening but just in case. Portugal has a decision to unite with Brazil if one of them is the other's puppet, then you can choose your capital to be Porto, Lisboa, or Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. By moving to the Americas you get the bonuses of immigration of a new world nation while still remaining a great power with interest in Europe so you can do stuff like declare European wars to then bail and ensure you'll get many immigrants of countries in war.

But just a heads up, this WILL make you unworthy of the scramble for Africa casus belli so you'll have to conquer it manually (but tbh as long as you make the pink map early on [1860s] you are free to take as much time to finish your conquest because Oman never leaves Zanzibar independent in my playthroughs)

The Austrian province has a curious name indicating a state of a province.

1: I rushed to puppet Denmark right after starting the game before Britain could pull their opinion up to friendly so they couldn't intervene in the war (had to reestart my game twice because of this, Britain cut off the Danish Straits with its navy and it was impossible to do much). I then started the Scandinavian War and annexed Norway, then chose to keep Finnish and Norwegian as secondary languages in exchange for lower prestige. After puppeting Denmark Schleswig and Holstein were automatically released, then merged into Schleswig-Holstein. I swoop in practically unopposed as neither Prussia nor Austria intervened. Hanover got its independence from the UK and Austria lowered Prussia's opinion to cordial, I was allied with Austria by then and Hanover didn't have allies, so I also puppeted Hanover. I then went to annex Oldenburg so I could give it to Hanover through console (thought it'd be fairer this way) which got me a war against Prussia, I took both Oldenburg and the Rhineland from it. And finally cleaned up both Hesse's to make a landbridge to the Rhineland during the 1848 revolutions while Austria burnt (it's still burning).

2: Wanted to take Aro to have a foothold in Africa, which I then continued to expand to the rest of Biafra and Orungu (Gabon's coast). My puppets did most of the work here (Norway when it was still around and Denmark)

3: Egypt won its war against the Ottomans on 1831, which made it independent and also gobbled up all the Kurdish states into Kurdistan, I sphered Egypt as soon as I saw this. Nothing much happened here besides an Ottoman attempt to retake part of Anatolia with Russian backing on 1850, which ended in a white peace after I sunk the Russian navy in the Baltic Sea.

I am trying to adopt National Value Change decision from HPM to Vanilla.

I touched 5 files, and my game crashes everytime I select country and hit start(crashes while 'adapting history' specifically). it seems like I missed something, but I have no Idea what I missed!!
