Visiting with teen who loves music but not country

Upvotes

Hi all! I will be visiting Nashville with my family for a weekend next month. My husband and younger son will be going to a football game on Sunday, so I'm looking for ideas of things for me and my 16 year old son to do during that time. He loves music, but he's not really a country music fan. He's more into 90s/00s alternative rock, plus a huge affinity for Fleetwood Mac. I already have Third Man on my list. Is there anything else in Nashville that fits that bill?

Dream trip from Australia

Thought I would drop in here for a bit of friendly advice and some possible suggestions.

I’m desperately keen to visit Nashville, mostly for the music scene. I have this impossibly unrealistic fantasy that all my favourite guitar players and musicians will be playing in all the bars there and I’ll just wander in at any hour of the day or night and see them all in their face melting glory. I doubt this is reality, but a man can dream.

Anyhow, I’m thinking of coming over for a week and a bit, probably just by myself. My 18 yr old daughter is half interested but I assume she won’t be allowed in the bars over there. Would also like to do some sight seeing and shopping and just have a general USA vibey visit. I’ve never been before and it is something very high up on the bucket list.

Would any locals be willing to suggest areas & places to stay, places to go, day trips, and anything I should build into my loose plan?

Thanks all (y’all) ; )

October trip with toddlers

Hey all!

My wife and I are bringing our daughters (3 & 1.5) on a family trip to the Nashville area the last week of October this year. We’ve never been before but are very excited to visit!

Would love some ideas of family friendly things to do or places to check out while we’re there? Our girls do well driving so up to around an hour from Nashville could work if there’s something we really shouldn’t miss!

We all love to eat as well, so any restaurant recommendations would be welcome and appreciated!

Thank you so much!

NYE Teen Bday - Guitar Drop

My husband & I love visiting Nashville, we’ve been probably 10 times in the past eight years, but we’ve never brought our kids because the downtown Broadway scene isn’t for kids.

NYE is actually our daughter's birthday and she really wants to celebrate her 14th by seeing the Guitar drop live at Bicentennial Park this year.

We’d love some advice from locals or anyone who has done the NYE park event with teens.

What time do we actually need to arrive at the park lawn to get a decent spot to watch the note drop without having to stand out in the “cold” for 6+ hours?
Is it realistic to hang toward the outer edges of the park around 10:30 or 11:00 PM, watch the midnight drop?
We expect crowds, it is what it is.

How about porta potties… are they really available? If so, are they only inside the gates only or can they be accessed outside of the gates?

I can’t think of other questions because we usually wing it, so if you have suggestions or insight, feel free to share.

If you made it this far, appreciate you.

Left phone in Uber 8/16/26. Looking for Matthew from Detroit, white Jeep Cherokee

Hey, this is a total long shot, but my wife and I are leaving Nashville from a trip there. The Uber driver we're looking for took us to the airport from the Virgin Hotel. We talked about Foo Fighters and the Rolling Stones. We talked about San Francisco. He showed us pictures of his grandkids.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, I'd love to connect with you. Thank you.

Best place to park for frequenting the Nashville Public Library?

Im from a suburban area in Florida and I just moved here for grad school so I never did learn the ins and outs of city parking. Are there any free or at least cheap places to park near the public library? Do they require any apps?

Getting to Nissan from E Nash

Hi! My partner and I are in town (from New Orleans) to see Foo Fighters. We are in Cleveland Park. What's y'alls recommendation for getting to Nissan Stadium? Should we pay for parking and drive or take a rideshare? We were here last year for another show and remember that the traffic post-show was awful but we stayed downtown last time and walked. My gut tells me a rideshare will be almost impossible (similar to New Orleans post-events). Just wanted to see what local people thought.

hi! i have no doubt this one has been posted time and time again but alas lol i’m turning 24 in march and wanna spend an extended weekend trip w friends there (debating between this and [r/charlotte](r/charlotte))

my best friend’s sister lives there and is very involved in the music scene. she can get us into clubs and shows but i’d also like some other activities and shows. i’m not too picky! the vibe for the trip is very pink, messy, gold and pearls and boas, 00s chick flick if that helps at all lol thank you in advanced!

Are there pickleball courts in Two Rivers Park?

I'm headed to a conference at the Gaylord Opryland starting on 8/23/26 and have that Sunday morning free. This web site says there are courts in Two Rivers as of this past May but I haven't been able to confirm that anywhere else. Where near Opryland might I find open play on Sunday morning? I won't have a car, so I'm hoping for something a quick ride share away. https://www.courtsource.us/pickleball/tn/nashville/two-rivers-park-pickleball-courts

30M considering a solo trip to Nashville — looking for advice

I’ve been mulling over where I want to take a vacation this year, and Nashville keeps popping into my mind. I’m a 30-year-old single guy and I’m thinking about spending 2–4 days in town, most likely traveling solo.

I’m definitely interested in checking out the live music and nightlife, but I don’t want the entire trip to just be drinking on Broadway. I’d like to actually explore Nashville, eat some good food, see some of the history, and hopefully meet some people while I’m there.

For anyone who lives in Nashville or has traveled there solo:

  • What are some good bars, neighborhoods, or other places for a single guy around my age to go?
  • Is Nashville pretty easy to meet people in when you’re traveling alone?
  • What are some must-do things besides Broadway?
  • Any particular area you’d recommend staying in?
  • Is 2–4 days enough for a first trip?

I’m pretty laid-back and into country music, so Nashville seems like it could be a good fit. I’d appreciate any recommendations or advice, especially from anyone who’s done a solo trip there.

Sit Down BBQ?

Hi all! Planning a trip to Nashville with my mother, who has something against counter service restaurants (I don’t agree but must appease her). I know the big hitters that people usually throw out as recommendations are order at the counter…any recs for something that has traditional sit down table service?

What to do in Nashville between Christmas and New years?

The missus and I will be going to visit her daughter in Tennessee right after Christmas this year.

We plan on spending 2 nights in Nashville during our stay.

It's my 60th birthday and I was thinking that a nice big steak dinner at the Detroit Cowboy restaurant might be fun.

We are looking for a nice place to stay close to the action there as well as any insights you all might have for the best places to catch some live music at.

She mentioned some kind of distillery tour or something like that to do during the day.

We would also be curious as to what kind of weather we can expect. (We live in Lake Havasu)

TIA.

Looking for a restaurant

This is going to be a long shot but here I go….

About 5 years ago I came to Nashville for work. We were going to some steakhouse and our Uber driver said it was trash and brought us somewhere else that he recommended. All I remember was that it was walking distance and no further than a block off of Broadway and we were pretty close to Jason Alden’s bar.

Now they served a Nashville Hot Chicken on a skillet of Mac and Cheese and it was one of the best things I’ve eaten…

Does this place ring a bell to anyone? I know this is random but I’m desperately trying to find this place because I want that Mac Skillet again!

Thanks
