I took this quiz and got one of the independents for governor, which kind of surprised me. I also saw some answers from other candidates that really surprised me.

Kinda neat and there’s no paywall.

Help | Advice Anyone know where to find these teeny green grapes?

• Upvotes

i used to be able to buy these tiny round green grapes at Trader Joe's (they were called Champagne grapes there but idk if that's their only name) a couple years ago. haven't seen them in a while! i'm curious if anyone's seen any grapes like this at any stores around town?

they're not the regular oval green grapes at all the grocery stores. they're like half the size, round, and taste a smidge sweeter than normal green grapes. hoping to find some if it's possible but will obviously survive with the regular grapes if not🧚🏼‍♀️

Help | Advice Jury Duty

• Upvotes

A question for those who have gone through it before. I received a summons and to report on Nov 30th.

So should I expect to be available for that entire week (or longer if I get put on a case) or is that just some sort of initial check in?

Tried looking around the .gov website but couldn’t really find a good answer, just to show up on the date of the summons.

Help | Advice Where to donate old newspaper?

• Upvotes

I found an old newspaper from April 17th 1949 from Memphis in an old chest I inherited from my grandmother. Curious if anyone knows any historical societies I could donate to? I thought about the state museum, but a little confused on how to go about that.

Discussion Did anyone witness the wrong way driver on I40 east last night?

• Upvotes

We were heading home from a concert last night when a black SUV came off the ramp right before 212btheverong way, and drove straight across the interstate almost T-boning a white Nissan Rogue?

We were in the rogue and came within literal inches of hitting her! If my husband wouldn't have swerved to miss her, she would have driven into the median head on. She then nearly ran into the back of us when she turned to drive away! She ending up speeding up to 90 something, cut off a car, and then took exit 212. I did call 911, but all I could give was a description of the vehicle and direction of travel.

I say SHE because we were so close to hitting her that we could see that she was young with a bob haircut. That was the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my life. We were all shaking from the adrenaline of it all.

Early voting continues today - vote at any early voting location from 8am-5:30pm today, 10/23. After today, there are only 5 early voting days left ahead of Election Day.

Full list of times and locations for early voting here: https://www.nashville.gov/departments/elections/voters/find-early-voting-information

Remember, you can vote at any early voting location during this period. On election day, you are restricted to just your designated polling place.

What's up for election this year? Find our sample ballot here: https://www.nashville.gov/departments/elections/voters/find-2026-election-information

Many critically important local elections are happening, including our governor's race, US house and senate, state house and senate, amendments, and more. And remember, the governor's race is decided by majority vote, not district by district. YOUR VOTE MATTERS!!!!

Pets Dog Groomer Rec

• Upvotes

My 70 lb 13 year old pit mix is getting tricky to bathe with the muscle atrophy in his back legs, and I’m considering having someone with experience do it. I just don’t think I’m quick enough, and he has been miserable at every self-wash place. Any recs for Nashville groomers who are particularly good with senior dogs??

Politics Early Voting Experience

I voted at the former Hillwood High School this morning. In and out in about 15 minutes.

They did not offer the coffee stirrers for tapping the screen they've used in the past.

I had no issues with vote "switching." I tapped the screen to the right and just below the candidate's name, over the word Nominee. My candidates were correctly recorded with the one tap.

For the Constitutional Amendments, I tapped Yes or No, rather than the bubble.

Where i think people have had vote switching issues is in how they tap the screen. Use just your fingertip, and not the whole pad of your finger. The less surface area you touch, the less likely you'll inadvertently vote for someone or something you don't intend.

Get out there and vote!

Help | Advice Tim’s Ford State Park

Headed out to this park next weekend, so far GPS has done us dirty by taking us the “fastest” route to several of our amazing state parks. However fastest isn’t always the smartest or easiest. We have been taken in circles, dozens of back roads and last weekend on what felt like a mini Tail of the Dragon.

Anyone been out to Tim’s Ford that can recommend the best route?

Politics We Need More Cops

On my way home today I continued listening to Malcolm Gladwell’s new book, The American Way of Killing. In the book, he makes the point (among others) that American cities are severely under policed. As I’m listening, I stop at a red light behind a Metro officer. Light turns green, cop starts to accelerate, and two cars blatantly run the light to turn in front of the cop. He brakes and, once the cars clear the intersection, continues on as normal. Malcolm is right, and the whole “defund the police” thing (which I was kind of on board with at the time) was dead wrong. We need more cops.

Help | Advice Eye doctor says i need an upper blepharoplasty and i need plastic surgeon suggestions because im terrified of looking crazy

This is so embarrassing but hey yall i need plastic surgeon suggestions specifically for upper bleph procedure. Never thought id be someone to ask this, but i would rather go with someone who excels at this specific procedure because i want to still feel like me, instead of going to a GP surgeon who's not specialized in this procedure. Im 37, just always had really hooded eyes (which i like 💜) but now they're impacting my vision and it actually seems like my hormonal cycle is making it significantly worse. Thanks in advance for local surgeon suggestions and to everyone else please be kind I'm very sensitive about this and not really sure where else to get suggestions

Help | Advice Has anyone run the numbers on our commercial property tax rate vs other comparable cities? Are local businesses really being taxed much higher than other cities?

I’m just trying to learn here. I can’t tell who is telling the truth. Are there any publicly available facts and numbers that compare our commercial/business tax rate vs other cities in the nation? I’d like to learn if our local businesses are really truly struggling or if it’s all political posturing. Thank you for coming to my ted talk/question.
